In the second hour, we talk about Dave Mustaine playing the national anthem, we test our own knowledge of America's history and we fall deep into a 90s nu-metal path discussing Godsmack with an ending that makes it all worth it.  Open Metalcast #97: Time immemorial | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 54:53

Time was in the early days of the Internet there weren't many options for finding new music. However once better bandwidth came about the Internet became a wonderful and strange place indeed. Where else could one find a Symphonic Metal Opera album about My Little Pony (that's actually really good)? And where else could you find more a seemingly endless source of metal music from talented bands like Napalm Strike, Obsidian Throne, Wildernessking, Old Wainds, Lycanthia, Maniac Butcher, and the inimitable deafheaven? Fortunately you don't have to go searching for all of these bands on the Internet and can add a sampling of each to your collection with just a simple click or via your podcatcher. How times have changed indeed. * (00:11) Riding Through The Darkest Woods… by Maniac Butcher from Masakr (BY-NC-ND) * (04:30) Time Feeds this Wound by Lycanthia from Oligarchy (BY-NC) * (10:58) Insane stellar race by Old Wainds from Nordraum (BY-NC-ND) * (15:44) Sunbather by deafheaven from Sunbather (BY-NC-ND) * (25:58) The Devil Within by Wildernessking from The Devil Within (BY-NC-ND) * (35:58) Black Hole in Human Form by Obsidian Tongue from A Nest of Ravens in the Throat of Time (BY-NC) * (44:28) Mind Control by Napalm Strike from Aiming Down the Sights (BY-NC-ND) * (50:10) Scene 4: Lunar March by The L-Train (and friends) from Moonrise (BY-SA) Please support the bands in this show! Buy a T-Shirt, head to the shows, or set up a memorial for your favorite band. Whatever you can do to help these bands keep making music, please do it!  METAL INJECTION LIVECAST #260 - Haagen-Guys w/Brett from REVOCATION | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2:02:50

3D was absent for this edition of the Livecast, so we broadcast in standard definition. Get it? Sid talked about visiting Noa at Sirius for an ice cream party, which got the gang onto the topic of favorite ice cream flavors. Rob couldn't properly pronounce Häagen-Dazs. We talk about the UCSB shooter, the Revolver Golden Gods Awards and bands getting exposure in today's world. We also had a hilarious convo with Brett Bamberger, bassist of Revocation, who called in during the first hour to talk about working out deals, pissing in bottles, teabagging tourmates and appropriate times to pull over on long drives. We also got an exclusive update on his side project with Corpsegrinder and Shannon Lucas.  Open Metalcast Episode #96: Proggy Weather | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 48:33

Many years ago when I was heavily into Dream Theater I stumbled upon a band that sounded interesting but was unable to hear their music (this was before Youtube made it insanely easy to hear most of mankind's recorded output). The band was Spock's Beard and I bought several of their albums sight-unseen from the Thoughts mailing list admin (Thanks, Lisa!). Fortunately in this day and age with sites like Jamendo and Bandcamp you don't have to guess what an album sounds like and once I heard the band Anasazi's "Drop Dead Silence" I was immediately reminded of Spock's Beard and that moment when The Kindness of Strangers (and not just the album) set me on another musical rabbit-hole. Speaking of proggish rabbit holes, we also have a proggish track from Wall of the Eyeless, as well as crushing tracks from FLYING RENOS, Avolation, CABEZA DE CABALLO and Umor. And if you like your metal with a little King Crimson / Frank Zappa then the latest from Peculate will fit the bill quite nicely. And it thrills me no end when I see bands that I know release material under a Creative Commons License so I'm thrilled to welcome Arsis to the show. So if you like multiple time signatures, thoughtful music, and crushing riffs you're ini for a treat. Cape and Mellotron not required. Shownotes after the break: * (00:11) drop dead silence by anasazi from 1000 yard stare (BY-NC-ND) * (05:56) FLICKER by Wall Of The Eyeless from Wimfolsfestta [Demo] (BY-NC-ND) * (15:39) Global Insanity by FLYING RENOS from Massive (BY-NC-ND) * (20:51) Worship Depraved by Arsis from As Regret Becomes Guilt (BY-NC-ND) * (23:52) An Intricate Balance by Avolation from Core To The Core Compilation Vol. 2 (BY-NC-ND) * (27:27) Volcanic Spell by CABEZA DE CABALLO from Iron and Wood (BY-NC-ND) * (34:36) Sandstone by Umor from Held Us Silent For A Moment (BY-NC-SA) * (44:56) Extra Varnish Please by Peculate from In Two (A) (BY-NC-SA) Please support the bands in this show! Buy a T-Shirt, head to the shows, or offer to send the band's music to random folks on the Internet. Whatever you can do to help these bands keep making music, please do it!  METAL INJECTION LIVECAST #258 - Due Dillinger | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2:10:06

We spend some time reading some hilarious Yelp reviews, and listen back to an amazing wrestling promo and this guy. Here's this week's playlist, featurings hits from the 80s, 90s, 00s and 10s on Metalinjection.FM: Down – Bury Me In Smoke Death – Cosmic Sea Daath – Self-Corruption Manifesto Metallica – Am I Evil?  METAL INJECTION LIVECAST #257 - Mr. Doody's Personal Viagra | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2:12:48

This is a jam-packed show. Rob begins by talking about his Golden Gods experience. The conversation veers into many tangents including some jerk who was hitting on his female friend at the Rainbow bar in LA, who the Livecast crew proceeded to prank on the show. We learn about the first time Rob smoked pot. We also listen to new music from Slayer and torture ourselves with GNR and the new Avril video. The highlight of the show is the unveiling of the new Livecast diss track pointed towards Emmure's Frankie Palmeri. Here is this week's playlist: Mastodon – High Road In Flames – Everything Counts Alice In Chains – Again Misery Index – The Killing Gods Listen to the Metal Injection Livecast on Stitcher or on iTunes (please leave a rating/review as well).  Open Metalcast Episode #94: Post Pycon Ham Hangover | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 50:24

Regular listeners of the show may notice this episode posting later than normal. That's because the normal posting date was during Pycon and I was hanging out in beautiful Montréal Canada enjoying the largest gathering of Python developers in the world. And I'm recovering from Easter weekend and a ham hangover. But lest this devolve into your typical blog post we've compiled 8 tracks of some amazing metal music, starting off with Sam Whitaker (feat. Jake Barnes of the Final Chapter), as well as brand-new music by EWÏG FROST. We also have the amazing new album by electronic black-metalers Psygnosis, and the jazz-influenced black metal of Schattenbrandung. There's also post-metal sludge from Wovka, the groove-djent stylings of Pursuance, and the groove metal of Azoah. Capping off the show is the catchy prog-metal of Pervy Perkin. So feel free to move about this episode freely, and be sure to make copies of the music for your friends. Just don't get too spooked at the gremlin ripping off the wings. I think I need a drink to calm my nerves. Shownotes after the break: * (00:10) Natural Force [Feat. Jake Barnes of The Final Chapter] by Sam Whitaker from None (BY-NC-ND) * (04:10) The Boys Are Back by EWÏG FROST from Dirty Tales (BY-NC-ND) * (06:03) Noesis by Pursuance from The Spiral Dynamic (BY-NC-ND) * (11:06) Δrowning by Psygnosis from Human Be[ing] (BY) * (21:28) III by Schattenbrandung from I – Apophänie (BY-NC-SA) * (28:13) Sleep Eater by Wovoka from None (BY-NC-ND) * (36:22) Al Kepun by Azoah from Azoah (BY-NC-SA) * (42:21) The End of the Beginning by Pervy Perkin from Ink (BY-NC-SA) Please support the bands in this show!
