Open Metalcast Episode #89: New Music Smell | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 45:55

Call me an old fogey but I still get excited to tear open the shrink-wrap of a brand new album, especially when it's from a band that I enjoy like Deep Space Destructors album II. Part of the joy was listening to their bonus track Sykli which I believe is only available on CD. But I know some of you have eschewed the physical realm for the more tidy and sanitary digital realm so with Deep Space Destructors' kind permission I've included it in this episode. And lest you miss that new-music smell we also have new tracks from Chiral, Grey Heaven Gall, Nemost, Mahidevran, Azgard, Eschatos, and Hesus Attor. And rather than dispose of the wrapper when you're done you're encouraged by the artists to share with your friends. So until we can send new-music smell over the Internet this is the next best thing. Shownotes after the break: * (00:10) Eternal Winter Day by Chiral from Winter Eternal (BY-NC-SA) * (03:58) Последняя песнь твоей мечты by Grey Heaven Fall from Grey Heaven Fall – Серые небеса осени 2008 (Demo) (BY-SA) * (09:04) Sardanapale by Nemost from The Shadow's Trail (BY-NC-ND) * (12:58) My way by Mahidevran from Singl My way (BY-NC-SA) * (18:44) Azgard – Будь Мужиком by Azgard from Будь Мужиком (BY-NC-SA) * (22:28) One That Divides The Time by Eschatos from Hierophanies (BY-NC-ND) * (29:03) Sykli by Deep Space Destructors from II (BY-NC-ND) * (41:29) Bombono Vox by Hesus Attor from State Of Downfall (2013) (BY-NC-SA) Please support the bands in this show! Buy a T-Shirt, head to the shows, buy some physical media like the album II, or paint their logo on the front of a snow plow. Whatever you can do to help these bands keep making music, please do it! Welcome friends to the annual MSRcast rewind. This is the first part of our look back at our favorite releases from the past year.  Open Metalcast Episode #88: Palindromic Repdigit Piano | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 45:11

One of the ways that I try to get around writing one of these introductions to an episode (which is coincidentally the hardest part about putting together an episode) is to take a peek at Wikipedia to see if there's anything interesting related to the episode number. Apparently 88 is considered by the Chinese to be a number of fortune and good luck which is something that I wish for you as you listen to this episode. As luck would have it there's 8 tracks in this episode as well full of the best Creative Commons Licensed Metal Music the net has to offer including MUERTE POR MIL CORTES, The Conjuration, Sick Of Hailstone, Lothorian, Deep Space Destructors, Sarin, Mighty Zazuum, and Another Destiny Project. But lest you think this is "bye-bye" for Open Metalcast feat not: there's still plenty of music to explore. And as long as there's a Wikipedia there'll be something for you to read along with it. Shownotes after the break. * (00:10) Ojos by MUERTE POR MIL CORTES from Muerte Por Mil Cortes (BY-NC-ND) * (04:11) Gozu by The Conjuration from The Human Condition (BY-NC-SA) * (08:24) Lullaby by Sick Of Hailstone from The Story Of A Lullaby (BY-NC-ND) * (13:27) Welldweller by Lothorian from Welldweller (BY-NC-ND) * (18:20) Spacy Phantasy by Deep Space Destructors from II (BY-NC-ND) * (27:54) Mosque by Sarin from House of Leaves (BY-ND) * (33:00) Chemtrails by Mighty Zazuum from State Of Downfall (2013) (BY-NC-SA) * (40:33) The Virus Of Illusion by Another Destiny Project from Metodo Paranoico-Critico (BY-ND) Please support the bands in this show! Buy a T-Shirt, head to the shows, or explode a meteor over their home town. Wait, that's not good. Nevermind. Whatever you can do to help these bands keep making music, please do it!  Open Metalcast Episode #87: Yellow Snow | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 34:54

Well 2014 has started off rather cold and snowy at the Open Metalcast bunker. Fortunately the network connection has withstood the elements and we've been able to find some great music to start off the new year right. We've got music by At Daggers Drawn, Firestorm, Just Another, Coalest, NAJA, DSW, and a killer piece from Mean Messiah. And though we don't have any scientific proof I'm pretty sure headbanging can prevent frostbite. OK maybe not, but it does make the day go by quicker when you're stranded at home. And remember "all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy". Shownotes after the break: * (00:10) Gaia (Thou Shalt Not Kill) by At Daggers Drawn from Ignition (BY-NC-ND) * (04:51) Through The Fire by FIRESTORM from Sands Of Time (EP) (BY-NC-ND) * (09:01) Where to by Just Another from Polarities (BY-NC-SA) * (13:44) Monochrome by Coalest from Magnolian Root (BY-NC-SA) * (17:29) Brain Detonation by NAJA from No Escape From Yourself (BY-NC-SA) * (22:52) Space Cubeship by DSW from Dust Storm Warning (BY-NC-ND) * (29:16) The Last Ride by Mean Messiah from Hell (BY-NC-ND) Please support the bands in this show!  METAL INJECTION LIVECAST #242 - My Relationship with Wet Wipes | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2:06:53

Darren couldn't join us this week because he was out sick, so our good friend Dan Ozzi from Noisey joined us. We began talking about poo and bidets and it only went up from there. Discussions of shitty landlords, odd jobs that Noa and Rob shared, and weird findings on computers. We also played a rousing edition of Thrash it or Trash It judging music from Desolate Rage, Insentient, Your Accident, and this weird Murdoc and then the metal Murdoc. Here is this week's playlist: Lamb of God – The Faded Line The Dillinger Escape Plan – Sunshine the Werewolf Mastodon – Blood And Thunder Pig Destroyer – Gravedancer Hatebreed – Perseverance Listen to the Metal Injection Livecast on Stitcher or on iTunes (please leave a rating/review as well).  METAL INJECTION LIVECAST #241 - The Tracheotomy Had Me Rolling | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2:01:43

This was the final Livecast of 2013, and it may have been the funniest. Darren's birthday isn't technically until Wednesday (yep, New Year's Day), but we celebrated early. For every caller who wished him a happy birthday, Darren said something nice about Steve Harvey. We spent hour one figuring out where Jerusalem 1 Pizza was, discussing Tub Girl (art rendering pictured) and had a laugh-off between Rob and a caller. Hour two is when things really picked up, as we played some NYC anti-smoking ads featuring Ronaldo and could not stop laughing. We're clearly going to hell. We also talk about our favorite Livecast moment of 2013, let us know what yours is in the comments. The show ends with a special-year end surprise, so make sure you listen all the way. Here's this week's playlist: Bloodbath – Eaten Doomriders – Bad Vibes In Flames – Pinball Map Sepultura – Desperate Cry Join us live next week starting at 6pm Eastern (3PM Pacific Time, 11pm In London, 10am Mon in Sydney) and going until 8PM eastern time for an all new edition of the Livecast.

METAL INJECTION LIVECAST #240 - Procreation, Not Recreation with Jim Breuer | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2:03:53

There were many special guests on this edition of the Livecast. Axl Rosenberg of MetalSucks sat in on the entire episode. Comedian Jim Breuer called in the first hour to talk about his new Christmas single, "Santa Claus Ain't Coming To Town" and he and Darren exchanged Big 4 impersonations. It was a magical moment. Also, Blake from Pig Destroyer randomly called in to say hello, so it was quite an eventful evening. In the second hour, we discussed the Duck Dynasty drama, Christmas and somehow got onto Metallica's album sales. Here's this week's playlist: Jim Breuer – Santa Claus Ain't Coming To Town Megadeth – Sweating Bullets Pig Destroyer – The Diplomat Listen to the Metal Injection Livecast on Stitcher or on iTunes (please leave a rating/review as well).  Open Metalcast Episode #86: Cult of the New | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 53:15

The term "Cult of the New" is a term used in the boardgame circles to (sometimes derogatorily) refer to people who are constantly in search of the latest releases at the expense of ignoring some of the older releases. This show is about putting on the brakes for a bit and slowing down to re-listen to some of the bands that we've featured on the podcast before such as Rase, Neverside, Panic.0, Inordem, Nuestros Derechos, Overlord, Les Chants de Nihil, Anthemon, Spawn from Deceit and Rezistor. And we welcome back Amity in Fame who recently released their stellar sophmore album "Through" under a Creative Commons License. So enjoy another spin of these amazing tracks and be sure to find a spot in your library for these albums. Because if you haven't heard them before they're still new to you.
