However, when you get to the part about the birds singing, you stop abruptly at a complete loss for the appropriate Hebrew words. Again, noticing the sudden disappointment on your face, your friend asks in Hebrew, "You still okay?" Deeply saddened by your inability to express the beauty of the swans in the pond or the beautiful peacock with its colorful display that you experienced today, you drop your head and answer in Hebrew, "Well, there were these birds, and they were pretty." Your friend looks at you as if you have lost your mind, replying in Hebrew, "Oh, that's nice." Another lost opportunity...HebrewPod101.com is the most fun and effective way to learn Hebrew! Learn Hebrew with HebrewPod101! Don't forget to stop by HebrewPod101.com for more great Hebrew Language Learning Resources! (Actually, it was in Meggido, near Afula). (He was eventually identified as Eliyahu Timsit). ----Formal English---- "Number 17 is Anonymous" The 2003 documentary "Number 17 is Anonymous" focuses on the June 2002 bus bombing that happened near the Israeli city of Tel Aviv in 2002. Seventeen people died in that bombing, and sixteen of the victims were easily and quickly identified, but the seventeenth victim's identity was never found out. Over a period of six months, authorities tried to figure out who the person was, but the person ended up being buried anonymously. Officials believed that the seventeenth victim must have been a foreign worker. David Ofek directed the film, and he used some very interesting ways to attempt to draw out the identity of the seventeenth victim. The victim's body was so badly burned in the bombing that he was unrecognizable, and no one ever reported him missing. In the United States, the focus in these kinds of cases is nearly always on the technology that is used to determine who the victims are, but Ofek took an entirely different approach. He guides the viewers through the side stories and lives of the victims of the attack, and we do get a chance to meet some of the surviving victims. Throughout the course of the documentary, it becomes clear that the only one who really cares that number seventeen's identity is discovered is the filmmaker himself. He even goes so far as to track down the investigators of the case while they are on vacation. After several wrong turns, there does seem to be a glimmer of hope toward the end of the film. --------------------------- Learn Hebrew with HebrewPod101!
