 TED Podcast Extras – Beddit | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 8:48

Did you know your sleep isn't the same throughout the night? This is a sleep monitor that tracks your sleep. Accurately, without any disturbing wearable sensors. Only a sensor attached to your bed. All you need to do is sleep on the sensor and Beddit takes care of the rest. Works with either Apple iOS or Android apps. App is designed for phones but may work with tablets. Comes in black or white. $150 on web site or $130 on Amazon. Sleep Monitor is based on (BCG)ballistocardiography, a scientific method for measuring cardiorespiratory functions. It detects the tiny signals caused by heartbeat, respiration and movements of the person in bed. Things it measures: - Heart rate - resting rate. Is an important indicator of recovery and stress. - Respiration - breathing frequency and gives you a possibility to follow your stress levels. Tracking your respiration it also knows if you snore during the night. - Sleep cycles - sensing your movements it recognizes the different sleep stages and sleep cycles you go through during the night. - Sleep time - tracks your overall sleep time and recognizes absences from bed, awake periods and periods of restless sleep. Sleep Matters and has a significant effect on your overall wellness. A good night’s sleep improves your working efficiency, reduces stress, boosts your workout and has a positive impact on your relationships. This may help you sleep smarter and is just one of several devices coming out soon to track your sleep. Some lay on your bed like this one and others lay on your bed lengthwise. They all work about the same and work with apps to track patterns. These can be very useful to let you know how your health is doing and whether you need to seek other medical advice. February is also National Heart Month!  TED-2015-01-28 – Health Trackers | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 13:28

Health Trackers come in all types and sizes. Some you have never heard of. Many new ones were shown at the International CES 2015 Consumer and Electronic Show, some will make it to market and some might not. Others are just newer versions of old products. These devices are getting more and more sophisticated as time goes on. Soon you will be able to know almost as much at home as your doctors office visits learn about your health. There are many new classes of devices from Sleep, Diabetes, Heart, Calories and more. These don't just have to be for fitness and exercise. If you are 50+ and want to know more about your health without the expense and time at the doctor, maybe one of these is in your future. These mostly work with apps on your phone. Some work with Apple iOS and others Android or both. Types of trackers: - Sleep - resting heart rate, respiration, sleep cycles, stages and time, stress levels, movements, snoring, (REM)Rapid eye movement cycles, and other... - Diabetes - blood glucose, carbs, sugar and others... - Heart - resting or continuous heart rate, current rate, rhythm, real-time (ECG)electo cardio gram, peak and others... - Calories - burned and others... - Blood - pressure, oxygen level, perfusion index and others... - Body - temperature and others... Trackers can be ones placed on your bed, worn on your wrist, apps on your phone or tablet, worn across the chest, worn as clothing, worn as a hat, worn as socks or shoes. Almost every way you can think of they are trying to make. Not all of these work the best or have the accuracy needed. I think these are great if you want to follow long term goals or other health issues you might want to know more about. Kind of spendy if you only looking for short term info. Can be useful as long as you know they are not everything and you should seek medical advice if needed. Also some privacy issues may be involved, so read the (EULA)end-user license agreement or privacy statements if you are concerned. Some have (GPS)global positioning system tracking built in others don't but may use phone for this if it's with you. They usually are connected via bluetooth.  TED Tutorials – Internet Basics part 1 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 19:09

Internet Basics part 1 The Net or Internet is a global system of inter-connected computer networks that started everyday use in 1993 with the World Wide Web protocols. These computer networks consisting of private, public, academic, business and government packet switched systems linked by electronic, wireless and optical technologies. Internet History of. Today most of our use of the Internet is helped by search engines. The first of with was Archie in 1990. It was not until 1994 that the first natural language search with Altavista started followed by Yahoo that same year. The present day King of Internet search Google did not happen until 1996. Google gave us advanced algorithms and speed in everyday natural language search. Search Engine History of. To utilize all this you first need a Web Browser or software application to retrieve, present and traverse information and resources on the World Wide Web. The first browser was Netscape Navigator in the 1990’s that is no longer in business. Their are several browsers today. Most are staying very similar in capabilities and everyone has their favorite. The Top ones are Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Opera along with Microsoft (IE)Internet Explorer and Apple Safari. The last 2 have some security issues that make them less desirable on a whole but are improving. Web Browser History of. Now that we have a little background we can move on to some of the basics and how to use a browser to get on the net or surf the net. After double clicking on browser icon, opening your browser of choice. This first page that appears is the start page, which can be changed but we will discuss that later. Now then look for is Address Bar, location or URL which consists of a long blank rectangle area you can type a search term or (URL)uniform resource locator into. A URL is a web address you already know without using a search engine. Some thing like http://www.ElderDivide.com. The (http)hyper text transport protocol semi-colon and two forward slashes is already provided in most modern browsers so you only need the (www)world wide web plus a period followed by site name and ending in period and (com)commercial. There are some different beginning URL’s besides www and some web sites do not require this either as browsers now even put this part in for you like the http://. The last part (.com)dot com or domain designator or name can also end with different country codes or extensions.

 CES 2015 – BeZilch | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 10:41

BeZilch.com The best place to buy, sell, and research smartphones & electronics! Efficiency (ef·fi·cien·cy) Achieving maximum productivity with minimum wasted effort or expense. When you think of buying and selling used electronics, efficiency probably isn’t something that comes immediately to mind. You’re probably more concerned with convenience, or money, or any number of other things. But what if there was a way to transact with ultimate efficiency? A place for you to cover all your bases: time, convenience, and money? This is where beZilch comes in. With three ways to buy and three ways to sell, we allow you to choose the type of transaction that best suits your needs. No more selling to companies that drastically undervalue your electronics. No more listing your items online and paying outrageously high listing fees. And no more hassle. We make it easy to transact in the way that best works for you. “Efficiency” may not be the most exciting word when it comes to running a business. However, you won’t care about the lack of excitement the word entails when you’re able to find the exact phone you want at the perfect price, or when you’ve managed to sell your tablet for more than you thought you’d be able to. With the most efficient place to buy and sell electronics, beZilch will quickly become your favorite place to shop online. Each week will be an ongoing tutorial with progression of a subject line from basics to everyday usability. Nothing too complicated or over your head, just information useful to you and others. I hope you enjoy this TED Tutorial series and let me know what you think or any suggestions for topics at my email: TheElderDivide@ElderDivide.info First up will be the future Windows 10. Returning is the Start Menu with desktop view like in Windows 7 and also it will have Metro Apps support as in Windows 8 and 8.1. Windows 10 will also have a new Browser to replace IE Internet Explorer. Windows is also pushing towards a single core OS Operating System for both desktop and mobile so apps will work on your Windows Phone, Tablet or Desktop from Windows App Store. These tools downloads just check for OS upgrade eligibility. This tool and upgrade is only for technical insider use. It will still notify you when Windows 10 upgrades become available.
