STP 014: The Grannies of ICE CHIPS say Just GO FOR IT! | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:05:15

The "Grannies" of Ice Chips have a big update , a big bombshell, and are doing big business! Charlotte joins me on the Shark Tank Podcast to pick up where the cameras leave off.  When I speak to her it reminds me of everything I love and cherish about my grannies.    Charlotte is the quintessential "fun" grandma...and there is always candy within arms reach...how do you beat that?? If you aren't having any fun, you probably aren't in the right business - Charlotte This podcast isn't all unicorns and rainbows...there is some serious stuff going on here.  I feel like Geraldo, had AL Capone actually been in the tomb.  I did not know until speaking with Charlotte that their deal with Mark & Barbara DID NOT GO THROUGH.  This is a bombshell and we don't know whether this will be mentioned on the Grannies' update this week (May 17th) I won't write the details here...you have to listen.  Ice Chips sold several thousands of dollars of Ice Chips right after the show aired...which is why they say this could not have worked out better for them.  "Shark Tank has been the gift that keeps on giving!" says Charlotte. Do not miss this podcast! "There is no way we could have known that Ice Chips would be the big idea when we were struggling over the years"  Charlotte Click here to send this post out as a Tweet>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Click here to leave a review on ITUNES Enjoy!   In this episode you will hear: The Grannies met 26 years ago and Ice Chips is the culmination of 30 different "business cards" Charlotte is the first person she knew who had an online business (Do you remember those days?) Why do the Grannies always rip on scrapbooking?? The grannies were told you couldn't make small candies from Xylitol.  Duh~ Online sourcing opens the field up to people who wouldn't likely be entrepreneurs otherwise. Everyone has to pass through their "window of terrible" (My new term) Your net worth is in your network...the grannies have proven this. There best sales person asked them to sell their product and now has a company built around his sales team.  (great story!) The grannies now have over 30 employees...30 people that earn their living and provide for their families from the sweat equity of the grannies. The grannies were in the groove, what did they need the money for?? Daymond made an outstanding offer for 15% less equity and the grannies passed right over him...why?? (This offer seems better to them now then it did at the time) The grannies told the sharks they would sell a million dollars in product in 2012, but they hit a snag with the original plan. (As entrepreneurs often do) Sales in 2012 put them at 1.1 MILLION in 2012.  They are already one of the most successful shark tank stories ever. Where are the grampas when all this craziness is taking place?? The Grannies pay young employees to smash candy with a hammer...where was that job when I was in high school? Plus a whole lot more... Advice from Grannie Charlotte for entrepreneurs who haven't made it over the hump just yet: Don't get discouraged if the first 17 ideas don't work out (How great is that?) It doesn't matter if you don't have the answers...don't stop, and the answers will come to you. We didn't know our husbands industries would TANK when we were figuring this out...Be Prepared! We could not fail, it was not an option. Don't go into massive debt!  You will be a slave. Don't get married to any single idea. Items we talked about during the Podcast: ICE CHIPS Candy Variety Pack Producers include Ethan's Brick shot in the final cut Two grannies in a garage Book (August release) Ice Chips CandyWebsite Truce Serum (The grannies know skin care as well) STITCHER RADIO (The Future of Radio) So what if he was a fraud..the book was decent SKS bottle alibaba.com  Shark Tank CONTEST!!  STP 013: Nate Holzapfel Is On a Mission | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 46:21

Mission Belt Company has made belts sexy again. Nate Holzapfel put on a clinic in the Shark Tank.  It was one of the best presentations we have seen on the show without question. Nate joins me on the Shark Tank Podcast to pick up where the cameras leave off.  His energetic style is infectious and he has a great story to tell.  All entrepreneurs should take notes on how to sell yourself and your product from Nate and his brief & successful visit in the Shark Tank. I don't chase money, I chase improvement and fulfillment...the money follows"  Nate Holzapfel "Buy a belt, feed a family" That's the mission statement at Mission Belt Company.  Nate explains how they do this and provides an excellent example of how Mission gives others the same type of help that he and his company have received a la Shark Tank.  Don't miss this podcast! Nate believes he is unusually lucky, but I think he is doing all the right things. Riches are in the niches, but Nate  wanted to take something boring and make it fun. Which Shark Nate had his eye on when he jumped in the tank. Did Nate and Mark Cuban have a little man-crush going on?  Nate explains How do you know whether Lori or Barbara is on the show...Nate knows (I feel dumb) The best objection rebuttal I have seen in a long time (SHAZAM!)  STP 012: Your Best Investment is to “Choose Yourself” with James Altucher | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 57:17

Shouldn't we all have a friend like James? A friend to remind you to breathe deeply, that losing millions of investment dollars isn't the end of the world, to give sage business advice (shall we call it "Angelic"?),  & to not be your wing man at the next wedding reception? I can't do justice to James in a blog post, perhaps I can chip away at him in the PODCAST, but for those who have aspirations of being a successful entrepreneur and all that comes with it...James Altucher's story is a must hear. "Never let ONE PERSON control your destiny, NEVER" - James Altucher James has started and sold a handful of companies, ran a VC firm, traded for hedge funds, held investment in who knows how many companies/products, and is now a successful author of 11 (will be 12 in June) books. His goal seems to be to get up early and make me laugh while reminding me that the only things in life that matter are those that money can't buy. Speaking of this book...who writes a book and tells you he will refund your money after you read it??  James Altucher thats who.  Thank you for coming on my podcast James. I give James an idea for a blog post (Effin Aye Cotton!) Why don't you ever have any time??  James explains... James had a job where he walked the streets of NY at 3am...take your best guess... What to do with your money (once you make some)  Same thing Axl Rose said about tattoos ironically Never risk more than x% of your assets on any investment James says "COLLEGE IS A HORRIBLE INVESTMENT" and explains why...  STP 010: Dallas Robinson; Co-Founder of KissTixx | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 50:58

Where was KissTixx when I was growing up?? "Lets get Physical, Physical!" Dallas was just a regular guy in high school looking for a better balm to protect his lips and his reputation with the ladies after playing hard in the sun.  Fast Forward a couple of years and their product is on Shark Tank in front of 5 million+ people while they lock up a deal with Mark Cuban.  Good times! It wasn't all fun and games and they still see challenges everyday, although these problems have a lot more to do with growing pains than with balance sheets.  I think Jeremy Kartchner summed it up pretty well in a Reuters article: After years of mediocrity in the lady department, KissTixx founders Dallas Robinson and Mike Buonomo decided to make some sweet MySpace profiles—when that didn't pay dividends they transformed their dorm rooms at Utah Valley University into makeshift chemistry labs and created KissTixx, the best thing to happen to kissing since the French got a hold of it. With their newfound all-star level tonsil hockey skills, they are now much more popular with the ladies, and by popular we mean they don’t have to do product testing on their hands anymore. Seriously though, Dallas has some great insights about what it takes to be successful, what its like working with Mark Cuban, and whats its like paying professors to teach you things you know are wrong.  Click here to send this post out as a Tweet>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> // Enjoy! Right click here to download MP3 to desktop In this episode you will hear: How a young guy in high school decides he is going to "invent" a better chap stick/lip balm (Hint: Its always about the ladies) The psychology of giving your date the "other vial" If Dallas can learn how to produce, perfect, and market a brand new lip balm from scratch, what is your excuse? Dallas started this company in 2010 and the show aired in March of 2012...can you see your life being radically changed for the better in 2 years time? Which Shark(s) Mike was hoping to hook in the tank  (The answer may surprise you) The MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT in Shark Tank History...(Put the kids to bed and scroll down)  Rated NSFAnyone. How problems scale with growth and new obstacles come out of the woodwork. (Especially when you start to sell internationally Obstacles cont'd.  FDA, regulation, full compliance with the bureau of compliance department etc. Why doing this deal at 40% for 200k is a STEAL for KissTixx. (3 words: Youth, Experience, Opportunity) Why we always pause during the show to discuss potential outcomes...Was Dallas tempted to counter at the end of the show? Why 2013 will be a HUGE year for KissTixx (CVS, Walgreens, and Kmart, with Target & Wal-Mart chumming the water)  That's just the USA. The challenge of staying in school when you are already in the "Entrepreneurial groove" (In his case he is paying someone to teach him how to do something he is already doing at a level the instructor has not = interesting discussion) Dallas' thoughts on having a good business partner and how the friendships and business relationships ARE NOT the same thing.  STP 009: Aaron Krause & The Scrub Daddy | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 54:47

Scrub Daddy cleans up in the SHARK TANK! "Shark Tank is real, and it inspires people to invent, create, and start their own companies." Aaron Krause created a nifty little sponge that he calls Scrub Daddy.  He went on Shark Tank and had a few of the sharks stepping over each other to do a deal with him.  During our Podcast you will hear all the things that you didn't hear in the Shark Tank. Aaron is a specialist in materials and he came up with the formula for his specialty material on his own.  He originally had designed it for car mechanics but it wasn't the right fit...It sat for years before Aaron realized he had unknowingly created the best kitchen sponge on the market. "I have seen people come off of the set of Shark Tank in tears...if you go in unprepared, you WILL get eaten alive."  ~ Aaron Krause Aaron is a seasoned inventor and he knows his stuff.  This podcast is JAM PACKED with good info. One thing that was hard for me to believe is that he didn't expect Lori to be the Shark Tank much less jump all over his product.   It's crazy to hear what he and Lori have been up to since they shook hands on their deal and what the future holds for Scrub Daddy. Click here to subscribe on ITUNES In this episode you will hear: The evolution of the Scrub Daddy from start to Shark Tank. (Crazy Story, seriously) His phone rang about 20 times during our chat...it was like the chirping of a smoke detector. (Cha-Ching) How Aaron's path began at a young age washing cars, then detailing them, then ruining the paint job on them... Why the product sat (FINISHED) on a shelf for over 3 years nearly unchanged from the current Scrub Daddy. Why you need to blind field test any product you develop. Retail can be a wall that is almost impossible to break through. (Plus info on how the retail brokerage works) Aaron breaks down the process of getting on QVC (Its much more difficult and tedious than you would expect...interesting story)  I have even more respect for Lori after reading this. Why you should be the BEST SALESPERSON for your product. Why Aaron's style initially caused rifts at QVC and his co-hostesses. Why QVC turns almost everyone down at the gate. Aaron prepared to go on Shark Tank for 6 months and white boarded every question, scenario, and possible outcome he could think of.  How did his predictions compare to the end result?  (And the ONE question he wasn't ready for...) Aaron is launching a new product as we speak and its going to be on QVC very soon...What is it? Why did Mark Cuban bail on the Scrub Daddy even though Aaron had a riposte for every concern he raised? Mr. Wonderful's reaction to being sent out of the negotiation.  (*crickets*) What Aaron has to say about Lori............................................................(Translation= He goes on for a while on how amazing Lori is, a beaming endorsement) Did Lori keep her promise to make Aaron a millionaire within a year?? Plus a whole lot more... Advice from Aaron for entrepreneurs who haven't made it over the hump just yet: (He had ALOT to share on this topic...pay attention!) Look for anything similar to your idea and find out who makes it, what it does, how you can improve it, etc. Evaluate size of market, Do your homework, and get a lawyer (If it involves patents) Do not go to invention submission services companies! Planning your exit strategy. Flow with the punches!  (They will come) Books Aaron recommends for Entrepreneurs: Aaron studied psychology in college and gets sleepy/bored reading books that don't really interest him.  He really enjoys reading about the founding fathers.  STP 008: Stephan Aarstol; CEO of Tower Paddle Boards | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 53:48

Learning How to SUP with Stephen Aarstol of Tower PaddleBoards Stephan Aarstol had a bumpy ride in the Shark Tank as he pitched his Stand Up Paddleboard (Henceforth known as 'SUP') company "Tower PaddleBoards"  During his presentation there was an "equipment failure" (better than a wardrobe malfunction right??)  and it caused him to freeze up like every persons worst public speaking nightmare. Like a boss, Stephan pushed through the wall and let his numbers and business plan tell the story.  (The gorgeous models he employs probably don't hurt)  He got a deal with Mark Cuban, and is frequently referred to as one of Mark's most successful investments on the show.  Not bad for a company that was only 9 months old at the time. Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) is taking off as an industry and Stephan is reaping the benefits.  Whats more...its a great product in one of the sexiest industries in the market. Listening to Stephan tell his story is  inspiring and my hope is that it will cause you take some positive action on your own entrepreneurial path.  Make it happen. Enjoy!   In this episode you will hear: Stephan claimed the corporate world was SUCKING the life out of him...find out what actions he took to change his reality. Stephan contributes his success to his ABILITY TO SEE TRENDS developing (which is very important when you have small/no cash reserves)...find out how he does it. Teaching a subject will force you to become the expert. Stephen was thrilled that he learned how to SUP after about 20 minutes.  Anyone can do it. Why Stand Up Paddle Boarding is picking up so much steam (Hint: Easier than surfing, and less than 5% of the industry is being directed towards people who want to surf) Stephan tells the story about "The Incident" in glorious detail.  It is one of the most awkward moments in Shark Tank history, BUT Stephan turned his lemons into some hard lemonade and that's when the party started. Why 'The Incident' is one of the best things that could have happened to Stephan and why entrepreneurs need to roll with the punches... Stephan believes only about 30% of deals made on the show actually survive the due-diligence process. A behind the scenes detailed look at what it takes to get on the show. ABC's automatic % take if your show is aired (and why its worth it if your company has small revenues) Stephan had not seen the show prior to going on and Mark was the only shark he was familiar with.  Find out what he said about what Mark's partnership was worth to him relative to the others. How Stephan is navigating through the "PERFECT STORM"  What happens if SUP is a fad? Find out why 4 million in revenues ISN'T ENOUGH TO GET A BANK LOAN even in MARK CUBAN is willing to CO-SIGN.  (This will make your head explode) In addition, find out what it takes to go back to a shark when you need additional capital. Mark's deal included first right of refusal for any new ideas...Does Stephan have any in the works? And finally, why Tower has the best products on the market; Including an inflatable paddle board that rolls up like a sleeping bag. Plus a whole lot more... Advice from Travis for entrepreneurs who haven't made it over the hump just yet: There is no overnight success.  Stephan has done multiple businesses that have failed which is why he was prepared for this opportunity. Success is like rust...If you are exposed to the elements for a long enough period of time...success (like rust) is inevitable. Books Stephan recommends for Entrepreneurs: Stephan's can't-live-without Tech: Outlook.com.  "It's a  massive increase in productivity while out of the office. Emails can be scanned from my iPhone in the morning and everything is synced up without thinking about it so if I open on the phone it's open when I'm at my desktop. I can jump computers and it's all synced. Can't believe I didn't do this 5 years ago." Useful Links From This Podcast:

STPI 006: Ryan “COWBOY” Ehmann – Thats What I’m Talking About!! | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:08:30

Ryan "COWBOY" Ehmann LOSE 12 INCHES WITH ANY 12 WORKOUTS Ryan "Cowboy" Ehmann has an amazing story.  I love this guy.  So much energy and passion its ridiculous. In addition to being a rodeo rider, his history is actually in tinkering and inventing.  He didn't mention on the show that he invented a traction device that paid for all of his schooling (while he was living it up and riding bucs)  From the moment he picked up the phone it was like I was on the one riding a bronco...I was just hanging on for the ride. "There is no such thing as an 'overnight' success" - Ryan "Cowboy" Ehmann Ryan got beat up a bit in the tank...and then out of nowhere (And I mean NOWHERE) Daymond gave him exactly what he asked for. (120k for 25%)  Daymond saw something in Ryan that he believed in, and this is the reason I wanted to have him on the show.  We all have the ability to find our "Cowboy" within and Ryan joined me on the Podcast to tell his story.  Hang On Tight! The Secret to Living...Is Giving! - Ryan "Cowboy" Ehmann   In this episode you will hear: That Ryan has one gear only, GO! Ryan sold a million dollars worth of product before coming on Shark Tank...what happened?? Being a rodeo rider isn't all it's cracked up to be...most end up riding the saddle style bar stool nursing injuries for a long time. Cowboy's dream was that some day those rodeo guys would be watching him on TV, and here we are.  (Can you visualize your own goals coming to fruition? Rodeo taught Cowboy that nobody was ever going to hand him anything...YOU HAVE TO FIGHT FOR IT. The disaster that occurred when Ryan was just about to release his first workout machine...and how he overcame the colossal disappointment.  (From a sales and ethics standpoint) More details regarding the products Ryan sells to help people get their own cowboy abs and change their life.  (What he calls "The Cowboy Way") What does Ryan think about Daymond? (Hint: He is a huge fan and he shares us some of the action items Daymond initiates to get things ramped up) Where we should expect to see "Cowboy" in the near future (If you work out at a gym, you may see him soon) The network of promoters and investors that root AGAINST the entrepreneurs getting a deal so that they can scoop them up. (The secondary SHARK market - crazy stuff) What is the traditional route to getting on TV if you are a workout Guru (as opposed to being on Shark Tank) One of the BIGGEST mistakes "Cowboy" made that you should not repeat (Hint: Duplicating yourself, and therefore your efforts) How this deal sort of mirrored what Daymond did with Billy Blanks Jr. Daymond told Cowboy that he knew he wouldn't have to worry about whether or not he would do the work (Can you say that about yourself?) The comment that made up Daymond's mind to do the deal (A clinching phrase that everyone should be using) Ryan did not know his episode was going to air until he read it in a TV guide less than 10 days before it the airdate! (Chris Matthews would have gotten a thrill up his leg for sure...Ryan did) Back Pain.  Ryan knows it, and knows how to fix it. Ryan's story of the 460 lb guy he helped who wants to get healthy so he can be there for his kids as they grow up.  He couldn't get a response from the major exercise gurus, but Cowboy has a different Modus Operandi.  Inspirational Stuff. Did Kevin really offer Cowboy a job to sell Mutual Funds? The reason Lori couldn't offer Cowboy a deal and the door she left open for him... Plus a whole lot more...   Useful Links From This Podcast: Lose 12 Inches Website - Check it out!  STPI 005: Moshe Weiss; Creator of SoundBender | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 50:08

The Rabbi Moshe Weiss is WA-wesome... SoundBender Moshe Weiss has an incredible story.  The downturn in the economy hit him very hard.  He ran out of money, closed his school, and came very close to losing the family's home.  A friend bought him an IPad to help cheer him up (Great friend huh?) Little did he know at that point he was taking the first steps on an amazing new road that would change his life forever. "I am here to make your Oy Vey GO AWAY"  says the Rabbi. His nifty little SoundBender is on the road to hitting a half million in sales this year thanks to Daymond John and the deal they struck (40% for 54k) I can't say enough about the Rabbi, he was even more fun to chat with then he was to watch on the show and I think we should all take note of the power of passion, persuasion, and personality. (Did I just invent the 3 Ps?)  Enjoy the show! Also I would be remiss if I didn't thank Moshe's wife...he made it very clear she has been an anchor in the seas of adversity.  I hear you brother... In this episode you will hear: The Shark Tank effect isn't winning the lottery, its winning the chance to do ALOT of work. Moshe's secret to "OWNING" his time in the tank The origin of the word "WA-wesome" How Moshe unwittingly stole MY idea for Soundbender (When you find yourself asking why there isn't an easier way...thats a light bulb moment) How Kickstarter (Crowd Funding) got Soundbender off the ground (and how it can help you) How Apple randomly inserts their magnets inside of the IPAD, and why it forced Moshe to re-design his Soundbender mold. How Moshe didn't sit and wait for Shark Tank to call, and you shouldn't either (HINT:  It took 5 months for the phone to ring) Which Shark Moshe wanted to work with when he jumped in the TANK. (Hint - Moshe LOVES his new partner) Moshe tells me that he never wanted to leave...he loved the tank, and it showed. The ONE HAT story and how it can help you keep your focus. Moshe is a Shark-Trepreneur - a term that is going viral! (Eventually) The Shark-Trepreneur community and how many of them have a virtual 2nd family type kinship as a result of going on the show. How Moshe was trying to "march to the show music" without being able to hear it. (Could you tell what he was doing?) How Moshe plans to out-compete the competitors that are already entering the market. Projected Sales for this year (It's over a half million - nice job Moshe) One of the best analogies I have ever heard regarding planning for the future after an experience like Shark Tank (Think Puzzle with no box) Moshe's Forest Gump moment (No one gets my jokes...) The ONE THING Moshe wishes he had said on camera during his negotiation. (It's really good, he should trademark it) Mark Cuban answer his emails..?  Moshe has been quite impressed by Mark's influence. (Especially his influence on the success of the show) Moshe's words of wisdom...Love what you do, and don't expect anything to change without great personal effort. Shark Tank wasn't planned, and Moshe was determined to be successful with or without it. (He admits is certainly helped) Moshe talks about losing his school and the resolve that can result from this kind of disappointment. How earning a great level of success can & will change your perspective on life. Moshe's greatest feeling (It's profoundly simple) Plus a whole lot more... CitiKitty & HoodiePillow Rebecca Rescate describes herself as the MINI-Shark, and for good reason.  After coming on the show and turning her first product into a company with 5 million in sales, she CAME back into the tank as an investor (and pitch-gal) for the HoodiePillow and scored another deal.  A FIRST for anyone in the tank. It took me a while to track Rebecca down as she doesn't stay in one place for too long.  At the time we spoke a pipe had blown up in her house and she was confined to the area of the house where there was a phone (or at least I think that's how I pinned her down for 30 minutes...who knows) We had a great chat and I know you'll enjoy it. In this episode you will hear: What it takes to get back in the tank after your first successful "swim" Do they roll out the red carpet and give you a fast-pass or are you treated like a regular Joe/Jane? A little history on training a cat to use the toilet "Focker, I'm not going to tell you again! Jinx cannot flush the toilet" CityKitty was no overnight success, Rebecca had almost a decade of effort before her first shark tank appearance. People who choose not to read aren't far off from people who can't read. How Rebecca knew the Shark's "tells" and how it helped her during negotiation. They KEY elements in any product Rebecca believes can be successful Robert FINALLY gets the last laugh with HoodiePillow. (And what Rebecca thinks of him - Hint: it includes wonderful & genuine) Which Shark Rebecca planned/hoped to partner with going into the tank... Is getting on the show better than getting a deal?? Kevin get's called out for always having one foot out the door. How to balance your opportunities when they come knocking in groups. Investing in yourself is an accumulation process...like compounding. If you are passionate about what you do, it will show in what you do. Rebecca is now on her way to being a full-blown Shark, helping others figure out how to get their own products to market. Will there be a 3rd or 4th visit to the tank?  Will Rebecca be sitting on the panel some day?? Plus a whole lot more...  STPI 003: Yuen Yung – CEO of “How Do You Roll?” Sushi | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 38:59

Next up on the Shark Tank Podcast ... - How Do YOU Roll??   There has only been a Million-Dollar offer in the tank 1 time before Yuen & Peter Yung showed up...and thanks to them we have seen our first million dollar deal handshake on the show.  And its for...sushi?? I caught up with Yuen for a few minutes to discuss this deal in greater detail, where he spent all that money, and get his thoughts on what happened in the tank.  A lot of great nuggets in here and I hope you enjoy it. In this episode you will hear: What the SHARK TANK effect has done to "How Do You Roll" (A hint - the sales are up as high as 300%) Why Yuen wasn't expecting to get a deal when he jumped in the tank. How filming the show is  akin to an audition or "reality TV" with eliminations as they go. Why "How Do You Roll" is perfect for Sushi Snobs, Noobs, and all of us in between. Why it makes sense to have Franchisee's buy more than one store. Why Yuen turned down an offer that would have put almost 5 million (before sending a check to Obama) in his pocket.  Could you turn down a check like that? A breakdown of what Yuen plans to do with the million dollars he receives (which you didn't hear on the show) Why Yuen was willing to do a deal with a valuation near half of where they started when they entered the tank. Drumroll....what its like working with Mr. Wonderful (Or The Undertaker, as the other sharks call him) A clear example of how Reality TV (Even when its as good as Shark Tank) is all about misdirection. We didn't get to see Yuen's "Magic Mike Moment" when Barbara told him he was too "buttoned-up" The response to Daymond claiming he isn't selling the food products that have the highest margins. The challenge of selling high quality fresh seafood vs. burgers, salads,  and french fries, etc. Elaboration on the real estate challenges we heard about on the show. What we should expect to see from "How Do You Roll" in the future. Yuen's recommendation for my first visit to the restaurant Success begets success Fail Often, Fail Fast, & Learn Quickly from It.  STPI 002: Proof (Wood) Eyewear Founder Brooks Dame | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 43:32

SCREW IT, JUST DO IT!! That's the motto that sums up the entrepreneurial drive of Brooks Dame. Brooks and I had a chat after his epic trip in to the Shark Tank with his brothers Taylor & Tanner.   This was the first episode that came and went without a deal closing, but their time in the tank gave us a lot of gems to discuss. Brooks and I picked up where the cameras stopped rolling and I know you will enjoy what he had to say about the experience, his company, and whats in the works at Proof. In this episode you will hear: Like many great ideas, how Proof spawned from a "Crappy" idea. How someone can go from working in a wood shop to creating sunglasses and selling almost a million dollars worth in the past year. The inspiration for the first pair of PROOFs Brook's transition and mastering a completely new industry (and why you should not doubt that you could do the same) Small wins teach you to manage fear, failing fast and cheap keeps you in business All successful businesses have the moment(s) where it makes more sense to quit then to press forward. How winning a contest forced Proof to do what was necessary to succeed. How Brook's grandfather set the bar high for his sons & grandsons by becoming successful despite not graduating high-school Behind the scenes info on why Brook's broke down on national TV (and the outreach of support he has received as a result) The near miss with Robert and the double concession "excuse" for him not budging on his offer Why Proof was smart for sticking to their guns How Proof is innovating and preparing for huge sustained growth in the future Plus a whole lot more...  STP 417: Shark Tank Podcast: Season 4/Episode 17 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 52:19

Shark Tank Podcast Episode 417 Recap  This episode originally aired on 2.22.13 It is the ONLY SHARK TANK episode to not see a DEAL.  There were some offers and some people who were in over their head but there were NO DEALS.  Id prefer not to see another show where that is the case, but it doesn't mean it wasn't entertaining/instructive. Entrepreneurs/Products  Addison’s Wonderland Muddy Water Camo Hip Chixs Jeans Proof Eyewear (Click to see Interview I did with Brooks - CEO) Update on Past Entrepreneurs: Liquid Money In this episode of the Shark Tank Podcast you will hear: Vurtego Pogo Sticks were instructed to stick with a niche market,,,should Addison's Wonderland do the same? The guy from MONEY makes more money than he ever imagined.  Would imagining that level of success created better results? Why you can't hit a home run without stepping up to the plate. My wife listened to Jim Rome every day when she was a teenager...before I knew who he was (Embarrassing) The definition of a whale tail...if you didn't already know. How to leverage influential people when you are starting out.  An endorsement can make all the difference. How some people need reassurance before they can be convinced of their own ability.  Unlearn this if it applies to you. What happens when you come in the tank with 12k in sales Why you may not be the best person to sell your product. Why valuation is critical if you want to leave the tank with a deal   Right click here  to download the MP3   Items mentioned in this Shark Tank Podcast: Epic Win Compilations Vurtego Pogo Sticks Shark Tank Fans LinkedIn Group (Click to Join) Check back later for Video Reviews, Updates,  and Links to purchase products featured on the show.   I appreciate you listening to the Shark Tank Podcast.  It is currently being registered on Itunes and they should be available soon for download and review.  STP 414: Shark Tank Podcast: Season 4/Episode 14 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 53:38

Shark Tank Podcast Episode 414 Recap  This episode originally aired on 2.1.13 and had some excellent nuggets as well as some free lessons on what not to do.  UPDATE:  I referred to this episode as 413 throughout the duration of the show.  That was an oops on my part. Entrepreneurs/Products  Bibbitec SoundBender Cuddle Tunes Xero Shoes Update on Past Entrepreneurs: Cousins Maine Lobster In this episode of the Shark Tank Podcast you will hear: Kevin give his best Simon Cowell impression (Where he tells someone something obvious to the rest of us in and is ignored by the only person who needs to hear it) How much a company will need to be worth someday for Mark Cuban to consider jumping in the sandbox The Rabbi give the best answer they have ever heard in the tank. (I liken it to Forrest Gump's answer during boot camp) How the Rabbi unknowingly stole my idea when he created Sound Bender Why we should be celebrating entrepreneurs instead of demonizing them when they become successful. The word 'Wah-some'  Someone call Urban Dictionary Why humility is almost always better than bravado, at least in the Shark Tank That my wife's instincts about people on the show may be better than mine (at least this ONE time) Why opportunity cost belongs on your personal profit/loss only.  Spend your time wisely. Rule of life #6; anything you say before the word "BUT" doesn't matter. Why you cannot accurately determine your customer conversion rate when you use GroupOn/Living Social/Or any discount coupon promoter. Robert get passed over for yet another deal with a better offer on the table ( I want to start a Robert support group) How to give Barbara a headache   Right click here if you would like to download the MP3     Items mentioned in this Shark Tank Podcast: My interview with Steven Sashen & Lena Phoenix (Founders of Xero Shoes) Born to Run Kickstarter Kiva.com - Funding entrepreneurs around the world Protomold Check Back Later for Video Reviews, to subscribe on Itunes, and to leave a review on Itunes.   Thank you for checking out the Shark Tank Podcast.  I welcome your feedback and my goal is to grow an active community of Shark Tank fans and Entrepreneurial minded people.   Your comments are appreciated.
