While battling my way through the virtual warzone, I was "Touched" by Oculus, and a startling turn of events have lead me to a vision. Who are the true winners and losers of the VR Wars? What is the correct headset to back, and are the lines between sides as clear as they appear to be?
In this episode, I am joined by my good friend, Lamitis Johnson. We take a deep look at some of the philosophical aspects of VR, including self awareness, AI, and the possibility that we are all just part of a big simulation being run by Elon Musk.
This is the final episode of the Rev VR Podcast that will be posted on the Road to VR website. I will not be stopping my podcast, but it will no longer post it here, on Road to VR. Ben Lang, Chief Editor of Road to VR joins my for a farewell episode.
Sitting around the lunch table with Keith Kaisershot, Trevor Smith, Michael Jones, "Cymatic" Bruce Wooden, and Kent Bye at SVVR Expo 2016 - Day 1.
In this episode, I am talking to Todd Hooper, Founder and CEO of VREAL, a VR game streaming startup that just came out of stealth mode. I had a chance to try out the software and talk to Todd about what VREAL is bringing to the table.
I was finally able to record this podcast episode without getting enraged at the topic. Lines are being drawn in the sand with talks of "Rift vs. Vive", and I wanted to address this rationally and give my thoughts.
In this episode of the Rev VR Podcast, I am joined by my good pals over at the Left-Handed VR Podcast, Bob (aka Cozneex), Jason (aka Apieceoffruit, and Matt (aka Holotape). We discuss GDC, STEM, Lighthouse occlusion, Hover Junkers, and much more.
In this episode of the Rev VR Podcast, I am joined by actor, YouTuber, and VR enthusiast, Sam Macaroni. We discuss his experiences in producing and directing films using 360 rigs. Sam is aiming to solve some of the common challenges of this new filming method with clever rigging, and strategic post-production.
Almost none of the predictions I made during my 2014 year end podcast were correct. In fact, If you listen to that podcast now, most of the comments I make could technically be made again right now and still be relevant. Despite the fact that 2015 wasn't the breakthrough year for VR that we wanted, I still felt the need to do a quick summary and make some final observations. As we wrap up 2015, I want to thank my family and friends for being so supportive this past year, and to the dedicated fans of VR and my podcast for keeping the passion alive and my presence appreciated. Here is hoping that 2016 will FINALLY be the year of VR!
Most of my regular listeners know that I have recently taken a job in the architectural visualization world. I have moved to Seattle to work for a company called Studio 216, and am very thankful for the opportunities provided to me. In this Thanksgiving episode, I talk to my boss, Boaz Ashkenazy, about how Studio 216 is using VR to lead the arch vis world into the future. For more information, check out www.studio216.com
Virtual Reality already does a pretty good job of fooling our eyes and ears, but we need to remember that we have other senses as well. Peter Sassaman is trying to add smell to our VR experiences with his device, Cilia, which just launched on Kickstarter.
The guys from Kite & Lightning have already been on the Rev VR Podcast twice, and now Ikrima is back again to introduce their exciting new VR game title, 'Bebylon Battle Royale'. Before the podcast started, Ikrima sent me an image from the game that sent me into a laughing fit. A baby, tatted up and wearing a fedora, with a sinister look on his face. I knew right away that this was going to be a fun conversation.
I recently attended VR Launchpad 2015, a one day event where VR startups had a chance to pitch their ideas to investors and the community. The event was presented by SVVR and Road to VR and held at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, CA. As usual, several well-known VR personalities attended, and I took the opportunity to catch up with my good friend and fellow podcaster, Cris Miranda.
