Grammy and three-time Stellar nominated Singer Cynthia Jones | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 02:01:00

LOTL-RADIO WELCOMES  CYNTHIA JONES   DEBUT HER NEW CD' JOURNEY OF SOUL'   Journey is Cynthia Jones’s musical odyssey through multiple genres, transcending time and space. All of the tracks were written by Jones, and she’s willing to share a piece of herself with the listener so that you can check out her mind as well as understand her heart.  “Journey of Soul” is a nice intro into the album; it’s a smooth neo-soul groove that could have easily been released in 1998.  You instantly feel the love from the mood Jones sets and it continues with “Unconditional,” another mellow track.  Jones switches gears and steps up the pace with electro/R&B “Universal Praise,” a club jam that will surely get people dancing and praising at the same time.  The album has a strong Badu influence, but Jones steps out of the neo-soul box to give you cuts like “Revival,” a pure contemporary gospel track, and “Happy Birthday,” which is steeped in contemporary jazz.  One thing is sure about J

 Lotl-Radio Welcomes R&B Balladeer ROME | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 02:01:00

ROME sang in a cover band called Fire & Ice while a high schooler, and toured regionally both as a solo artist and with the band. He attended Oakwood University but dropped out in 1989 and moved to California in hopes of making a career as a singer.Rome. He toured with Vesta but had little success until he met with Gerald Baillergeau and Victor Merrit of Grand Jury Records, the producers who heard his demo and sent it to RCA Records. RCA signed him to a major distribution deal and released his debut album in 1997, which went on to sell over a million copies in the U.S., mainly on the strength of the single "I Belong to You (Everytime I See Your Face)", which peaked at #2 on the U.S. Billboard Charts and #1 on many other R & B charts. He eventually had two Top 40 hits from the album. Having achieved success with his RCA Records' debut he was left stranded when a projected second album was rejected. He then left Grand Jury and inked a deal directly through RCA in 1998 but upon completion of his second album, the majority of the labels efforts were being put forth to his new labelmate "Tyrese" resulting in Rome's project getting shelved indefinitely. Instead, he signed a distribution deal with Ground Level for his own JTJ label follow-up -

Lotl-Radio Welcomes J. Holiday debut new Song 'Sign My Name' | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:32:00

It was has been a few years since J. Holiday released his sophomore album 'Round 2.' After playing on the sidelines for the last three years, he finally drops a new single. "Sign My Name" is a continuation of his slow bedroom babymakers. There are no mirrors or tricks here, no sleight of hand. When J. Holiday talks earnestly of “following my dreams” and “being in love with music,” it’s not a deliberately sympathetic portrayal by a partial writer. In fact, J.’s talent is matched -in rarity and intensity—only by his enthusiasm. His candor and vulnerability are refreshing, given the static, formulaic state of R&B. The question most are asking, though, is where did J. Holiday come from?  The answer is short, but runs deep: D.C. And while D.C.’s trademark sounds breed musicianship- “so many talented cats playing go-go or in church”—the city remains untapped. But it’s home, and home, for J. Holiday, is where the art is. He was born into a musical family; mother Frances, one of 11 siblings, sang gospel with her 5 sisters, while his older sister supplied backing vocals for Crystal Waters.

Talented, prolific, and genuine are best in describing who he is.  The Great Frank McComb, debut new CD 'The Living Room' | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:31:00

LOTL-RADIO WELCOMES FRANK MCCOMB. Frank McComb is back ! With his highly anticipated CD ' The Living Room' His may be one of the warmest, most recognizable tones in independent soul music. As talented as he is frustrating, the enigmatic Frank McComb returns to the scene for the second time in less than a year with another new release. Cut over five concert dates, McComb delivers a live EP set that is more jazz and jam session than it is classic R&B and soul. With a voice long compared to Donny Hathaway and Stevie Wonder, McComb’s voice here is now rougher and less pinpoint precise, creating distance from the decades of wearying comparisons to legends and finally giving McComb a vocal identity more completely his own. It’s good to hear Frank be more Frank, even if his efforts to bother singing lyrics feel more rushed and perfunctory than lived, much less transcendent. He’s sung these songs too long and clearly would rather not.

Lotl-Radio Welcomes Pete Belasco ,Debut new CD' Lights On | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:31:00

If Curtis Mayfield ever had a chance to record a full-length album for Playboy Jazz After Dark, Pete Belasco’sLights On would be the eventual culmination. It’s not an absurd idea since Mayfield on a number of occasions unleashed the expressions of his sexier side (“The Makings of You,” “When We’re Alone,” “You Mean Everything to Me,” etc.), so Belasco’s effort doesn’t come off as being grandiose or self-indulgent. But, for the most part, Belasco’s third disc – his first album in eight years – finds himself making love under the pale moonlight on a bed of rose petals, but with very little moves to show off. His feathery falsetto mimics the relaxed centrality of Robin Thicke, although his cooing hardly goes past a whisper. And, to add to the list of worries, the set of songs never branch past its boxed-in comfort zone. There are a few album favorites, particularly the Quiet Storm opener “I Ain’t Doin’ It” and “Later,” where he remixes Impressions doo-wop with cozy New York jazz. Still, it’s hard to even pick out favorites when the entire album hardly abandons the tempo and sleepy lounge soul. He has a smart vocal instrument and he is totally surrounded by dreamy piano, romantic balladry and pristine production. But, Lights Onis a clever summation of mood music, a neat disc to put on for a late-night romantic rendezvous. Those who want a longer reprise of a Kem album after hours may want to put a checkmark on this
