WAO (We Are One) Coming to you live from Costa Rica and brought to you by the La Reserva Forest Foundation (LRFF). We invite you to participate in this most interesting and interactive show by calling in or participating in the "green" chat room. LRFF is working to solve climate change and lost resources by restoring the tropical forests in the "lungs of the world".  Today Dr. Karen Holl will be our guest. Dr. Holl is a leader in restoration ecology. She has been at the faculty in the Environmental Studies Dept. at the University of California, Santa Cruz for over 10 years and is presently chair of the department Dr. Holl directs a large-scale restoration experiments in collaboration with land managers and farmers in the forests of Costa Rica and along the Sacramento River in California. On top of that she is co-director of the Center for Tropical Research on Ecology, Agriculture and Development.  Today we are also featuring some new tunes by Sharmac Bappa T Blake from May Pen, Jamaica. Great sounds from a new, upcoming artist. Climate change is our continuing topic. It's being caused by human activity not volcanoes, solar activity or a universal conspiracy. This is a platform for everyone to tell us your views on cc, ask questions about this most important issue. The majority of people are very uninformed about cc because it has become unmentionable in the mainstream media.  Talking about it is the first step to solving it.  As always great roots and culture music plus interesting Caribbean news and events.  Give us a call, get involved!  Reggae Artist important you shoud know bout music industry | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 03:00:00

Reggae Artist  important you shoud know bout music industry Social Networking is Not Going to Save Your Musical Life Social networking CAN be handy tool in connecting with your fans and keeping them on board and interested. It can also be a huge distraction if you don't give it the right place on your list of priorities. Now, I know you can think of a lot of musicians who have gotten something going on a social networking site. Go ahead, see how many you can list....ok, now what percentage of the total number of musicians who are on the net does your list represents? Exactly. Don't neglect the other parts of your music career in favor of being active on social networking sites. Ever. Also, don't ever pay anyone to "teach" you how to use social networking sites effectively. There is no magic formula. None. The best way to be successful on these sites is to be yourself and figure out what feels right to you. You don't need to pay someone to tell you how that's done, no matter how much some people may tell you that you do. It's not rocket science. Just jump in. You'll get it. If you need some advice about what works and what doesn't, there are more free resources dedicated to offering advice on this kind of stuff than you could hope to read in a lifetime. See, I even have a few myself: http://musicians.about.com/od/musicindustrybasics/a/musicneedtoknow_2.htm call with question  8-11pm 661-467-2407

Live chat about Cerebral Palsy and Cri-du-Chat syndrome | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 03:03:00

Sharon Byfield. The mother of Joey. I'm a loving mother of four. I love children and love working with them and helping them. I've been a foster mother for over 20 years and I've worked with pregnant teens, Medical Fragile babies, and Special Needs children. We have four children in which we love so dearly. Joey Byfield is a 12 year old boy who has Cru-de-Chat, Cerebral Palsy, and is also fed by a G-Tube. He doesn't walk or talk. But he's a loving boy and his spirit is as joyous as can be. He loves soft music, but he's a fan of Bob Marley. He will move those legs of his to jam to Bob Marley all day if he could. Joey is in need of a medical fragile bed that is very expensive, that will prevent him from falling out of bed, due to the fact that he can not break his falls. Joey has two sisters, an older brother; in which the youngest sister is medical fragile too. Joey wants to be where all the fun is and lives life to the fullest, omitting his situation. We hope this beautiful celebration can help him continue his life in a fulfilling way. Cri du chat syndrome, also known as chromosome 5p deletion syndrome, 5p minus syndrome or Lejeune’s syndrome, is a rare genetic disorder due to a missing part of chromosome 5. Its name is a French term (cat-cry or call of the cat) referring to the characteristic cat-like cry of affected children. It was first described by Jérôme Lejeune in 1963. The condition affects an estimated 1 in 50,000 live births, strikes all ethnicities, and is more common in females by a 4:3 ratio
