This week we review Sword of the Stranger which has been on our back burner for well, literally ages. This epic movie takes place during the transition between Feudal Japan and its slow Westernization effect. Although not as relevant of a historic issue this combines the action of sword swinging samurais and tons of gore. Another year, another Detective Conan Movie and this one is about a ship, in the sky! The little rascal we all know as Detective Conan is off another caper and has to prevent both a terrorist attack as well as a robbery. But can he do it both? This weak we go through what we've been watching, talking a little about AX 2011 and our sincere disappoint that our salary cap couldn't compensate the Unicorn aka Cam. This week we review another short anime. This short 30 minute OVA was created with a very different art style to it. Instead of having the characters drawn in, they are instead 3d models. We never reviewed Eden of the East (TV) but I can assure all of you that we did indeed watched it (multiple times). If the TV show wasn't enough they continue the story with the first of the movies that continue the story of Akira Takizawa and his mission to "save" Japan. This recently released movie from Funimation (at least here in the US) was highly anticipated by us and by a few of our friends, but will it live up to the hype? This week we review an OVA developed in  part with "Young Animator Training Project 2010" in which 4 animes were produced by 4 separate production studios with the help of young animators. So basically its an introduction to new ideas / new styles / and new stars in the anime industry. We review Ojii-san no Lamp where a man learns to cope to new technology and thus moves through life with the idea or "westernization". Its short, its pretty, and its actually not bad. This little gem is based off the very popular Nintendo DS game by studio Level-5. It follows a "true gentlemen", Professor Layton, and his assistant / "apprentice", Luke, as they solve mysteries and in this case a very intriguing music based mystery. This was only released in Singapore and the UK but was indeed dubbed for the UK release. We finally get around to reviewing the second chapter of this epic 6 part OVA set that is suppose to reboot what I call "Vanilla Gundam". This reboot of the series brings in the nostalgia of Gundam and the new fangled technology that is CG and digital coloring to really bring the movie into this decade. I hope you guys enjoy. We watch this epic CG movie based off of the very popular 70s and 80s anime "Space Battleship Yamato". This continues the story line apparently 17 years after the last movie. Tons of CG, tons of fun, tons of controversy.
