An eight-year-old Josiah suddenly finds himself king over Judah during a terrible time in the nation’s history but he doesn’t let his youth deter him from putting a stop to idol worship and turning the people back to God. On the brink of death, Hezekiah begs God to spare him; however, the extra years he was given prove to be destructive as he falls victim to his pride and becomes the father of a wicked son named Manasseh. As Manasseh leads the nation into great sin in 2 Chronicles 32-33 we see how God’s grace and mercy is extended when we repent and humble ourselves before Him.

The people of Judah and Israel have walked away from the Lord and are living in a sinful state. However, when King Hezekiah comes into power in 2 Chronicles 30-31:1 he leads them into repentance and back to God showing us we can never be too far gone to return to Him and accept His forgiveness.

Despite making one poor, catastrophic and foolish decision after another, King Ahaz never seems to learn his lesson and repent. Once he dies, leaving his nation in ruin, his son Hezekiah takes over in 2 Chronicles 28-29 and begins leading the nation back towards godliness as he restores the Temple and brings back worship of the true and living God.
