Don't forget to stop by NorwegianClass101.com for more great Norwegian Language Learning Resources! ----Formal English---- Receptionist: Hi and welcome to Fjord Hotel. How can I help you? Inger: Yes, hi. I would like to ask some questions regarding your hotel. Where is it located? Receptionist: It's a newly built hotel right by the fjord. It's only a 10-minute walk into the town. Inger: That sounds very good. What rooms do you have? I can’t stand smoke, so it would be great if the rooms are smoke-free. Receptionist: Since we care about our guests' health, all our rooms are smoke-free. We have single rooms and double rooms. What type of room are you interested in? Inger: Since I'm coming with my husband, I'm interested in a double room. By the way he has just broken his leg, so he can't walk up stairs. Do you have an elevator? Receptionist: I'm sorry to hear that. Yes, we have an elevator. Inger: Then I'd like to book a double room from the 4th until the 10th of August. Receptionist: We look forward to meeting you both. --------------------------- Learn Norwegian with NorwegianClass101! Learn Norwegian with NorwegianClass101! Don't forget to stop by NorwegianClass101.com for more great Norwegian Language Learning Resources! ----Formal English---- Drammen Drammen is a port city in eastern Norway's Buskerud County, one of the most heavily populated areas in the country. Drammen ranks sixth among Norway's largest urban areas with a population of ninety-three thousand. It is located about twenty-five miles from Oslo, the capital of Norway. The city center is in a valley on either side of the Drammenselva River, at the end of the inlet of the Drammensfjord River. Its location along the water provides great opportunities for both recreation and industry. Drammen is a main harbor for importing cars and fruit. The location also enriches the shipbuilding and logging industries. At one time Drammen was a great site for the paper and pulp industries, but those factories closed down in the 1960s. In 1866, many parts of Drammen were destroyed in a major fire. The city center was rebuilt, including the historic town square and Bragernes Church. The Drammen trolleybus came about in 1909. It was the first system of its kind in Scandinavia. The trolleybus operated from 1909 until 1967. The year 2011 marked the two hundredth anniversary of the city of Drammen. However, rock carvings found in areas of Drammen are thought to be six thousand to seven thousand years old. Since 2003, Drammen has received eight awards for environmental and urban development. That is more than any other country in Norway. Drammen is also known for its great historic character, boasting buildings from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. --------------------------- Learn Norwegian with NorwegianClass101!
