Irreligiosophy
Summary: Irreligiosophy means “the wisdom of irreligion” — it is about questioning dogmas handed down uncritically to us and researching into the history, practice, and theology of various religions. It’s about scrutinizing religious claims with a skeptical eye and placing them in historical perspective. But ultimately, Irreligiosophy 2.0 is really about arming atheists to wage the culture war with arguments and reason. We focus on Christianity because that is the religion that we are most confronted by in our daily lives, but we see all religion and all irrationality as threats to the continued advancement of knowledge, progress, and social justice.

Continuing our series on the gospels, we move into the final synoptic gospel, Luke. No surprise here, Jesus seems to be every bit the asshole he was in the previous synoptics.
We discuss common flaws in logic and argumentation and end up with a quiz to see if anyone paid attention.
In which we interview famous X-96 radio DJ and prominent atheist Kerry Jackson. Part 1 covers his early years growing up in Salem, Utah through the KJQ years, his run-in with cancer, and beyond.
Part 2 of Matthew covers Jesus's triumphal entry on the backs of two donkeys, the fig tree episode, the crucifixion, burial, and resurrection of Jesus, and zombies busting out and roaming around Jerusalem.
Our second in a series of hard-hitting investigative exposes of the four gospels covers the book of Matthew, covering such astounding events as GPS stars, virgin births, tempting Satans, sermonizing messiahs, and more jewiness than you can shake a menorrah at.
Part two of our investigative report on the Witch Craze includes instructions on how to become a witch, transcripts from actual witch trials, and Matt's in-depth research into the witch trials in Salem.
Part one of a two-part episode about what the hell happened when the entire world went crazy for two hundred years, killing somewhere between 50,000 and 80,000 women. We discuss the circumstances that led up to the Witch Craze as well as the book most responsible for the form it took, the Malleus Maleficarum.
We tackle the first of the good news to be written about the life of Jesus, which includes his bread-multiplyin' shenanigans, as well as some wonderful stories about pig herders, fig trees, and inflicting bodily harm on some money-changers. Join us and re-live the Messiah's glory days before it all went to shit in Jerusalem. Spoiler alert! He comes back.
This week we look at Lorin Woolley's expanded 1929 statement, with added details such as the appearance of Jesus, glowing faces, and levitating prophets that he forgot the first time around. We also discuss various fundamentalist groups, as well as the infamous 1953 Short Creek raid.
We take on the history of LDS polygamy, the federal response, and the subsequent 1890 Manifesto when the church was faced with losing money. Jailtime and untold suffering? No problem. Take my money? Instant revelation. We also cover the fundie claims of an 1886 revelation and personal visitation by a resurrected Prophet Joseph.
WARNING! Explicit science content! We discuss spontaneous generation, creation myths of various cultures, and what we know of abiogenesis. If scary words like Krebs Cycle, deoxyribonucleic acid, or Günter Wächtershäuser scare you, stay far away from this podcast.
In this episode Chuck gets castigated for not allowing Matt to talk, we spend more time talking about penises, and we finish off our discussion of CS Lewis's crappy book.
In Book II we finally get to CS Lewis' reasons to believe Christianity as opposed to all of the other superstitions out there. We also appease the men's rights activists by discussing male circumcision.
Here we cover the rest of Book I and find lots more "philosophy" and "apologetics" inside.
In this episode we briefly cover the life and times of always Christian apologist and sometimes bad fantasy novelist CS Lewis. We also compare and contrast feminism and misogyny within 1940s Christian apologetics and 21st century atheism, and then finally get to Mere Christianity's preface and opening chapter.
