Don't forget to stop by JapanesePod101.com for more great Japanese Language Learning Resources! -------Lesson Dialog------- ----Formal ---- 西郷隆盛 東京の上野公園の広場に立つ、着物を着て愛犬を連れた男性の銅像を見た事がありますか。あれは「西郷どん」の愛称で死後100年以上たって尚、人々から愛されている「西郷隆盛」の銅像です。 隆盛は、江戸時代末期、徳川幕府を倒そうと立ち上がった薩 摩藩（さつまはん）の中心的人物です。「この人のためだったら命も惜しくない」と人が思うような、人間的な魅力にあふれる人物だったとか。 前回のブログで、幕府が天皇に政権を返す「大政奉還」を紹介しましたが、慶喜に大政奉還を決意させるまで幕府を追い詰めたのは薩摩藩です。ただし、政権を返したとはいえ、慶喜は新政府の中には自分の役職が用意されているものと考えていました。政権を返しただけで、慶喜は徳川の巨大な領地をまだ持っていたのですから、当然の事でしょう。隆盛等、新政府のメンバーは慶喜から領地や官位等全てを取り上げようとし、それに反発した幕府との間で再び戦が起こります。 最終的に、新政府側から西郷隆盛、幕府側から勝海舟が会談し、幕府側が江戸城を明け渡すことになりました。この二人のおかげで、江戸では戦が起こらず、江戸の町とその住民の命が助かったといえます。 新政府では、私腹を肥やす役人や政治家が多くいましたが、隆盛は無欲で質素な生活を貫き、新制度の導入に力を注ぎます。しかし政治的意見の対立から政府を去ることに。故郷へ帰り私学校を設立しますが、新政府に反発した隆盛の生徒達は、勝手に国の倉庫を襲撃してしまいます。自分の教え子を犯罪者として政府へ渡す事ができない隆盛は、政府と戦争する事を選び命を落としました。 上野公園の「西郷どん」とはそんな人物だったのです。 ----Formal Vowelled---- さいごう たかもり とうきょうの うえの こうえんの ひろばに たつ、きものを きて あいけんを つれた だんせいの どうぞうを みた ことが ありますか。あれは 「さいごうどん」の あいしょうで しご 100ねん いじょう たって なお、ひとびとから あいされている 「さいごう たかもり」の どうぞう です。 たかもりは、 えどじだい まっき、 とくがわ ばくふを たおそうと たちあがった さつまはんの ちゅうしんてき じんぶつ です。 「この ひとの ため だったら いのちも おしくない」と ひとが おもう ような、にんげんてきな みりょくに あふれる じんぶつ だったとか。 ぜんかいの ブログで、 ばくふが てんのうに せいけんを かえす 「たいせい ほうかん」を しょうかい しましたが、 よしのぶに たいせい ほうかんを けつい させる まで ばくふを おいつめたの は さつまはん です。 ただし、 せいけんを かえした とは いえ、 よしのぶは しんせいふの なかに は じぶんの やくしょくが ようい されて いる ものと かんがえて いました。 せいけんを かえした だけで、 よしのぶは とくがわの きょだいな りょうちを まだ もって いた の です から、 とうぜんの こと でしょう。 たかもりなど、 しんせいふの メンバーは よしのぶ から りょうちや かんい など すべてを とりあげよう と し、 それに はんぱつ した ばくふとの あいだで ふたたび いくさが おこります。 さいしゅうてき に、 しんせいふ がわから さいごう たかもり、 ばくふ がわから かつ かいしゅうが かいだんし、 ばくふ がわが えどじょうを あけわたす ことに なりました。 この ふたりの おかげで、 えどで は いくさが おこらず、 えどの まちと その じゅうみんの いのちが たすかったと いえます。 しんせいふで は、 しふくを こやす やくにんや せいじかが おおく いました が、 たかもりは むよくで しっそな せいかつを つらぬき、 しんせいどの どうにゅうに ちからを そそぎます。 しかし せいじてき いけんの たいりつ から せいふを さる こと に。 ふるさとへ かえり しがっこうを せつりつ します が、 しんせいふに はんぱつ した たかもりの せいと たちは、 かってに くにの そうこを しゅうげき して しまいます。 じぶんの おしえごを はんざいしゃと して せいふへ わたす ことが できない たかもりは、 せいふと せんそう する ことを えらび いのちを おとしました。 うえの こうえんの 「さいごうどん」と は そんな じんぶつ だったの です。 ----Formal Romanization---- Saigō　Takamori Tōkyō no Uenokōen no hiroba ni tatsu, kimono o kite aiken o tsureta dansei no dōzō o mita koto ga　arimasuka.
