Episode 300: Guns, Jobs and Money | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

We had an excellent time talking with Assemblywoman Jane Corwin from New York.  A large amount of the conversation was spent discussing the New York SAFE Act but several other topics were covered as well.  While we didn't touch a single one of the articles on the list, we definitely covered the subject material very thoroughly.  It's interesting to hear the situation from the viewpoint of someone that's involved in the process. If you want to learn more about Assemblywoman Corwin you can visit her website at JaneCorwin.com. The show notes also includes a short biography.  Episode 298: Mind Your Own House | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

For this episode and the next we're going over the amendments proposed in Mark Levin's The Liberty Amendments. It's an interesting collection of history and suggestions for cementing the spirit of the founders back into the Constitution.  Our original plan was to cover all of the amendments in one show but it was decided to stretch them over two shows to give the concepts a modicum of justice. It was definitely an interesting conversation.  I don't think there is one that every person on the call agreed with but it brings out the way the country has changed substantially since its founding.  The proposals in the book bring up the discussion points that have been buried in today's politically correct environment. Be sure to be available for our 300th episode! As I hinted at during the podcast, we'll have a special guest for the show to talk about New York, Gun Control and what's going on to address the overreach that has happened in the state. It's going to be a special episode for a special milestone! Click Here to download the podcast, or listen using the Blubrry player (the blue ball on the right of the page).  Episode 297: Discriminating Minds | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

The question of the night was if certain groups were being discriminated against and there was not a specific answer. We shuffled articles around a bit and had a good time. Click Here to download the podcast, or listen using the Blubrry player (the blue ball on the right of the page). I'm finishing up my listen of The Liberty Amendments by Mark Levin. They list not only the changes that Mr. Levin recommends but also the historical back-story for each one. We'll actually be taking some time during upcoming episodes to discuss these proposals at length, so if you want to participate in them take advantage of an Audible credit and get the book now!  What Audible credit?  You can get a free 30 day trial at Audible.com as well as a free audio book by going to http://www.audibletrial.com/eastcoastconservative and signing up.  Episode 296: Roles | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

This was a rather interesting episode. We didn't make it through all of the articles but that's not a big surprise. The articles clearly pointed out a point that government has expanded well beyond its originally designed role set. I did assign a bit of homework with this episode. Write down the job descriptions for elected officials you can think of without looking them up, then go online and check your work. I mentioned President, Federal Senator and Representative, State Senator and Representative and Governor. If you have other offices you want to look up feel free! Click Here to download the podcast, or listen using the Blubrry player (the blue ball on the right of the page). It's time for a new book recommendation from our sponsor! I've been using my Audible subscription to listen to The Liberty Amendments by Mark Levin. They list not only the changes that Mr. Levin recommends but also the historical back-story for each one. This listening experience will have any jaw on the floor, both with where the country has gone and where politicians promise to take it.  Episode 295: Progessive Infection | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Every week when I post a new episode I try to come up with a different way to say that it was a fun one. While this week is no different, it wasn't just fun it was also educational. Looking at the current activities and how they all represent symptoms of this Progressive infection that has been eating at the concepts of our Constitutional founding has been an eye-opening experience. We even have to admit that many of the political planks espoused by both parties are rife with the stain! Something else that I do in every episode is explain how folks can participate. This will become even more important as we continue to look at this infection and expose it to the light of day. Considerate and civil discourse is needed in every episode and all are invited to participate! Even if you can't join in for our Sunday night recording sessions, take some time and share your thoughts, even if they are simply to agree with us.  Episode 294: They Think They Know | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

We had a fun time talking about what people thought they knew… on a variety of different issues. In most of the cases the concensus was that the people involved didn't think much beyond the "good idea". One thing I mentioned in the intro that I want to reiterate here in text. That is your opportunity to be a part of the podcast. We don't care where you are or your "stated political leanings" so long as you're willing to join in the conversation and keep things civil. Our podcast isn't strictly about the East Coast, nor does everyone that participates have to be a conservative! If you feel you've got something to add and can verbalize it well, feel free to call in. The recommended book for this week is "Sh-t My Dad Says" by Justin Halpern. It's an interesting look and a reminder to delve beyond the gruff exterior of people around us. Despite what Joesf says in the recording, we're not sponsored by Rosetta Stone... as funny as the bit was!  Episode 293: Ho-Hum | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Another episode with a lot of interaction and interest! It's always good to have more than one set of eyes looking at the details behind an article, as happened on a couple of occasions tonight. There were several stories that we were unable to get to because of time constraints. They still deserve your attention and comments, so be sure to look at the list of articles that were in the show notes and add your thoughts.  Episode 292: This Can't End Well | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

This was quite the lively episode! Apparently the articles I pulled illustrate more than just that specific issue of things not ending well but go beyond that. Most of the folks on the call were of the opinion that they shine a light on the plans that illustrate where the left want to take the country. What do you think? Are these isolated or are they disparate parts of a larger plan? Is there a way for any of these items to end well? Let us know!  Episode 291: Getting Away With It | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

In this episode we talked about how elected officials, media outlets and others are, "getting away with it," when it comes to pushing their own agenda rather than doing what should be considered their jobs. From the Texas abortion law to the Justice Department/NSA and even Obama and the media regarding the George Zimmerman verdict and Stand Your Ground, they're still getting away with it!  Episode 290: American Justice | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Summer time, as those that have stuck with the podcast over time, leads to episodes being posted extremely late.  Episode 289: Still News But Not In It | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

This was an interesting episode, with a few tangents and some good conversation. Being on vacation my schedule got thrown a bit so my apologies in posting it late. We didn't get through all of the articles (when is this ever a surprise?) but we did talk about things that for one reason or another have been taken out of the limelight for whatever reason.  Episode 288: Considering the Details | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

After an appearance from Captain Obvious, we had a good discussion about the articles in the show notes. There's a correction that I need to make, thanks to Ken, regarding the Bono story. Apparently the U2 front man has always been a supporter of Bush when it comes to Africa and a vocal critic of Bush in many other areas. Besides that, there's a lot more to hear. We didn't make it to all the stories this week.  Actually, we only managed to get to a few, and many of them were stark examples of how the system as a whole has changed for the worse.  Episode 287: Twisted Reality | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

A lively conversation from the start! Some of us were worried that the strange tales our articles explained would make heads melt while others said it was nothing out of the ordinary. Take a listen for yourself and decide which! My apologies for the late posting. The end of the school year has had our schedules a bit twisted.  Episode 286: Modern America | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

After something of a soft start, this epsiode gets rolling on some of the more frequently discussed issues of the past week. That's something of a departure for us, but one that needs to be made from time to time. Even though it wasn't on the list we even got in some conversation about Syria and the NSA leaker. There was a great turn-out both on TalkShoe and in Second Life. If you find yourself free on a Sunday evening, stop by and join us. We'd love to have you as a part of the conversation!  Episode 285: Addressing Growth | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Quite the interesting discussion in this episode, first with Mike Garcar, Field Director for the Ohio College Republican Foundation and then with Fabian Story, a man with a lot of campaign experience under his own belt. Unfortunately Mike was not able to stay with us for the whole show and we hope he can join us again! This was one of those episodes, however, where we didn't even make it into the opening article. This means that we'll need to take time during the week to talk about some of them. Click Here to download the podcast, or listen using the Blubrry player (the blue ball on the right of the page).
