In episode 9, we were joined again by our guest speaker Rachel Fahy a Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Trainer (ASIST) and Yoga Alliance Professional to speak on the topic 'Dyslexia: Mental Health and Wellbeing during COVID 19'.Rachel is a Mental Health Advisor in Higher Education, a qualified yoga teacher and an adult with dyslexia.In her role as a Mental Health Advisor, she assesses University students support needs and recommends reasonable adjustments to help them manage the affect that their mental health condition may have on their academic studies and emotional health. These adjustments may cover exam access arrangements, coursework and suggested methods of teaching delivery. She also provides specialist one to one mentoring for students with mental health conditions. Mentoring may include enabling the student to plan their workload, developing strategies to manage stress and anxiety, discussing potential triggers for relapse, identifying self-help resources and looking after their wellbeing from a holistic approach.Outside of this role, she teaches yoga based on a mindful, compassionate and inclusive approach.This podcast is funded by Wimbledon Foundation.
