Who's Really At Your Playground? Challenging Our Status Quo (with Mariangela Abeo) | File Type: audio/wav | Duration: 00:41:50

“I am honest and live in my truth,” is the affirmation that kicks off this episode, which challenges your answer to the question of who is at your playground? and how do you acknowledge & engage? In a world where judging is often first of mind, assuming is a close second, & fear of our differences oftentimes crowd our space, we talk all about challenging our status quo with a focus on diversity and inclusion.  I gift a bit of coaching (minute 3:00) to challenge your thinking, with a bit of soul work and a story on bullies, enjoy a few cocktails (minute 12:03) to celebrate greatness, then we have some kitchen-table conversations with Mariangela Abeo (minute 13:37), suicide survivor, founder & photographer of The Faces Of Fortitude Project, TEDx speaker, & podcaster.  I ask you again, are you honest and live in your truth? In coaching, I ask you to imagine there’s a playground right outside of your window. You’ve been wanting to go all day and now is finally your time. You take a glance over and see a host of folks there, some think like you, some you can see differences in right away. What goes through your mind as you decide if you will go over? What biases dance in your head? During cocktails, we give a cheers to you! and conversations take us from childhood to our 40's, self-discovery, being unapolgetic, walking into fear, and even to the Seattle riots where Mariangela shares a story that lays out white privilege on a silver platter right before our eyes.   Who is at your playground and are you being honest and living in your truth?  **Don't forget to subscribe and review!** Links we reference during the episode: The CC&C Journal to use during each podcast episode:  https://www.lolitawalker.com/downloads My 40-card deck of Affirmations:  https://www.lolitawalker.com/shop  My TEDxtalk:  https://bit.ly/LolitaTakesTedx Coaching with Me:  https://www.lolitawalker.com/coaching  Mariangela's TEDx talk:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3gQcr0rcLGk Mariangela's Faces of Fortitude Project:  https://www.instagram.com/facesoffortitude/ Suicide Prevention LifeLine:  https://suicidepreventionlifeline.org/ Other links worth referencing: Donate to my small biz & help keep podcast going:  https://www.lolitawalker.com/donate  My Upcoming Women's Weekend Renewal Retreat:  https://www.lolitawalker.com/retreats  My book, The Intersection of You & Change:  https://www.lolitawalker.com/the-book

S1E3 - Say My Name! (Dear Black Boy, I Love You) | File Type: audio/wav | Duration: 00:24:31

This eipisode is emotion-filled and raw, yet still gifts coaching, cocktails, & conversations.  Yes, I'm angry and disheartened, yet conditioned to see always see a glimmer of hope. May you remind yourself that IT IS OK NOT TO BE OK!  It is ok to sit in the power of your pause, UNAPOLOGETICALLY!  With the violence that's been thrust upon our black boys and men, I am giving you all of me.  As a Black mother raising a Black Young Boy, the murdres, senseless acts of violence, and hate-filled streets hit hard and spun me in a momentary interruption that I wasn't ready for.   Question for you - When you say the names of the Black and brown boys, men, women, and girls who have been murdered by police or hate-filled citizens (that we know of), what do you think about?  When you say your name, what do you think about?  When you hear my 8-year old son (Minute 22:44), what do you think about?  SAY MY NAME! AND MEAN IT!  DO YOU KNOW THE POWER IN YOUR NAME? Grab your CC&C Journal at https://www.lolitawalker.com/podcast to take notes, jot down actions, and do a bit of reflection during and after this episode!
