We had a great conversation with actress Daphne Maxwell Reid from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. We talked about so many things from fame, acting, sacrifices, she told some great stories to a whole lot more Yes we also talked about The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air too!Daphne Maxwell Reid is an American actress, comedian, designer and former model. She is best known for The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air (1993–1996) in her role as the second Vivian Banks on the NBC sitcom.Breaking new barriers is nothing new to Reid, who decades ago became the first African-American homecoming queen at Northwestern University and shortly thereafter one of the first African-American women to appear on the cover of Glamour magazine. But many fans of her modeling and acting career probably don’t know that Reid is a lifelong shutterbug, a hobby passed down by her father that has now become a focal point of her career. With five books and 5 annual calendars already published, Reid specializes in fine art photography that features doors and doorways from around the world, including Cuba, Venice, France, China, Germany, and Belgium.  Maddie Poppe Season 16 American Idol Winner Returns to The Chris & Sandy Show. | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1697

We had a great conversation with Maddie Poppe Season 16 American Idol Winner on The Chris & Sandy Show. We talked about may things from music, sacrifices, she told some really great stories especially on the side of music no one really talks about plus a whole lot more! Just like the 1st time we had her on the show, she was straight up authentic and raw which we love that about her!Unless you’ve experienced it firsthand, there’s no way to understand just how dramatically instant fame can mess with your head. Maddie Poppe went through all kinds of emotions — from elation to self-doubt — after winning American Idol in 2018, releasing her debut album Whirlwind the following year, and then ultimately watching in amazement as many of the people in her creative orbit dropped away. Despite the momentum from a pair of hit singles, “Made You Miss” and “Not Losing You,” Maddie found herself alone, and her future as an artist uncertain.“There were so many times I felt I had the rug pulled out from under me. Like the minute any momentum had built up, it came crumbling back down. From losing team members to seeing crucial opportunities fall through, I found myself feeling so helpless and thinking, ‘How am I going to do this on my own?’ It felt like I was standing at the bottom of a mountain I was too afraid to climb,” Maddie says. “It took some time, but I finally realized I didn't have a choice, my fate was in my own hands. I had to face my fears, rise above. The Iowa native, who captured the attention of fans with her folksy singer-songwriter style, did exactly that by giving herself the grace to evolve. While Maddie, now 24, can still very much bowl over a crowd with only her honeyed voice and acoustic guitar, she’s upped her game by tapping into a modern sound that blends R&B, pop, and Americana, and by committing herself to writing her own songs. On her irresistible new single “One That Got Away,” Maddie writes about the dissolution of a friend’s longtime relationship, predicting that the guy who foolishly dumped her will realize he threw away something great. But the song — a soulful jam with shades of Bruno Mars and Maroon 5 — can also be seen as a commentary on Maddie’s own experience in the music industry. Working with L.A. producer Scott Robinson and Nashville’s David Spencer, along with hit songwriters like Molly Reed Grayson, Bryan Simpson, and Thomas Finchum, Maddie has been constantly coming up with new ideas, both lyrically and musically. The deceptively upbeat “Good Soldier” is about the expectations and rules you’re supposed to adhere to in life and why it sometimes pays to not fall in line. “Good Enough to Let You Go,” meanwhile, begs an addiction — be it a lover or a vice — to break your heart and set you free. Unlike the tracks selected for her on her debut LP, each new song is rich in Maddie’s own voice."I'm very proud of Whirlwind, but I feel like this new project speaks truer to me and my story,” she says. “When you’re just starting out like I was then, it can feel like 100 different people are trying to tell your story. Now, I’m finally telling it in my own voice.”Maddie has a lot to tell. Hand-in-hand with her American Idol victory, she won a People’s Choice Award for her turn on the show, had Whirlwind hit Number 2 on the iTunes Pop Charts, and went on to become a hot guest on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Live With Kelly & Ryan and Good Morning America. All of this in addition to touring the country opening for Ingrid Michaelson and headlining her own tours, including a Christmas run that has become a seasonal “must” for Maddie’s fans. With a newfound momentum and passion for music, Maddie is ready to play her new material onstage. She’s plotting a tour to introduce fans to the sound she’s created, one shaped by the diverse artists she’s been listening to: Lily Allen, Sheryl...

The Chris & Sandy Show With Country Artist Joedi Silvers | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2263

We had a great conversation with Country artist Joedi Silvers on The Chris & Sandy Show. We talked about many things from Nashville, music, sacrifices, he told some really great stories to a whole lot more!Joedi Silvers came by his classic country sound honestly. His father lived it, performing in Nashville and all over the world in the 70’s and 80’s. Joe Don Silvers was a hitmaker. He wrote for Barbara Mandrell, Charley Pride, Janie Fricke, Lois Johnson and Willie Nelson, to name a few. He also founded a studio on Music Row with his friend, Faron Young, “The Queen of Sound.” Joe Don toured for decades all over the world. Two of his longest and most notable touring partners were “The Nashville Junction” and Hank Williams, Jr.His young son quickly proved to be a chip off the old block musically. “I started singing at three,” recalls Joedi. “My dad had a studio in our basement, and some of my first musical memories are of joining him in singing ‘Orange Blossom Special’ and ‘Folsom Prison Blues’ in that basement studio.”As a young boy Joedi was a typical kid, spending his time playing sports and video games. Eventually he pursued his true calling and passion for the traditional country music style of his father. He taught himself to play his dad’s guitar, becoming proficient on the instrument and quickly harnessing the retro country sound that comes naturally.Joedi’s voice takes you back to a time when artists like Ray Price, Waylon Jennings and Johnny Cash were kings, when steel guitar and analog sound ruled, and music made you feel something in your soul. Joedi hopes to bring back this style, armed with drawers of songs penned by his dad that fit his deep throwback voice and rhinestone-shimmering image perfectly. On a whim he recorded “Sleeping Alone,” a song written by his father, and uploaded it to Instagram. Within a few days, the video had over half a million views, and eventually it exceeded well over 2 million views. With that success under his belt, Joedi set off for Nashville, his dad’s old stomping grounds, armed with little more than his sheer talent and a desire to share it with the world. At 19 years old, Joedi Silvers is an old soul who often seems wise beyond his years. He currently hones his talent performing in bars on Broadway, where many of Nashville’s biggest artists began their journey to fame. He brings a fresh energy and passion to the original sound that first made Music City great. His is the same honest sound that propelled a generation of artists who are revered a few streets away from Broadway at the Country Music Hall of Fame. Joedi is ready to take his place among pure country greats both past and present.

The Chris & Sandy Show Welcomes Back Country Artist Janelle Arthur | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2532

We had a wonderful conversation with Janelle Arthur on The Chris & Sandy Show as she returns back to the show. We talked about so many things from sacrifices, her new song, her movie, she told some really awesome stories to a whole lot more!Janelle Arthur releases her second single on Black Sheep Records today, a song she co-wrote called "What Would Dolly Do." Arthur's destiny has been crossed with the inimitable Dolly Parton since she was just a little girl, and she’s been inspired by the humble-hearted legend in innumerous ways, most recently when Parton offered to sing on Arthur’s touching ballad “Hand Me Downs.”At only 8 years old, the former American Idol finalist got her start portraying a young Dolly in a live production of her life story. Arthur was moved by Parton’s constant, unending kindness over the years and wanted to express her thanks, and what better way to do that than in a song. So she sat down with co-writer Brett Sheroky and wrote the fun-filled new single, “What Would Dolly Do?” The tune is a perfect homage to the legend, who has touched so many lives in so many ways and made them better.“I had the hook ‘WW Double D” for a while before I wrote it with the incredibly talented Brett Sheroky,” explains Arthur. “It was a song that I felt like I needed to write. Dolly’s willingness to sing with me was something that I could never repay, and so I wanted to write something that encompassed just how incredible, humble, witty, and fabulous she is. It highlights everything from her big hair to her big... heart! It’s an anthem not only for Dolly lovers, but for anyone who thinks we need a little more kindness (and rhinestones) in the world!“Arthur infuses the song with just the right amount of playfulness and sass, and churns out a perfectly fitting tribute to the Queen of Rhinestones herself.“What Would Dolly Do” is the latest song from Arthur on Black Sheep Records (distributed by CDX Records via The Orchard) and is available on digital music streaming platforms now.
