Andy Caldwell on the Virtual Sessions presented by The DJ Sessions 8/11/22 | File Type: video/x-m4v | Duration: 55:50

Andy Caldwell on the Virtual Sessions presented by The DJ Sessions 8/11/22 About Andy Caldwell - A name that has been synonymous with the underground sound of the halcyon days of deep house, Andy Caldwell continues to push the boundaries at the forefront of today’s dance music scene. Internationally renowned for purveying sonically sublime sound waves over the past two decades, Andy continues to be recognized in 2016 as one of the scene’s most forward thinking producers. In addition to writing and releasing his own music, Andy has kept himself busy remixing such internationally renowned artists as Major Lazer, Lenny Kravitz and Beyoncé. With several Grammy nominations already to his name, Andy shows no sign of resting on his laurels after the 2014 nomination for his remix of Canadian group Delerium. This sits nicely alongside his ‘Best Remixed Recording’ by Wolfgang Gartner in 2011 for his original track ‘Funk Nasty’ and his work with Kaskade and Dirty South on ‘Sorry’, which snagged his first nomination for ‘Best Remixed Recording’ in 2008. His original productions can be found on Toolroom, Yoshitoshi, OM Records, Murk, Ultra and many more alongside some of Dance music’s best including Todd Terry, Kaskade, Morgan Page, Mr. V, Lisa Shaw and Anduze. Andy Caldwell’s ‘Naked’ days may be behind him, but we will certainly be seeing plenty of him in 2017! With a back catalog of tracks this inspired, it’s easy to see why a talent this bright will always sparkle under the spotlight.   About The DJ Sessions - “The DJ Sessions” is a Twitch/Mixcloud "Featured Partner” live streaming/podcast series featuring electronic music DJ’s/Producers via live mixes/interviews and streamed/distributed to a global audience.  DJ Colette on the Virtual Sessions presented by The DJ Sessions 8/10/22 | File Type: video/x-m4v | Duration: 01:11:39

DJ Colette on the Virtual Sessions presented by The DJ Sessions 8/10/22 About DJ Colette - DJ, producer, vocalist – Colette has grown from an integral part of the Chicago underground into a breakout musical triple-threat releasing her most accomplished and fully realized artistic statement to date.  Combining the tunefulness of classic pop songs with the thump of classic house of her hometown, the album ventures into new sonic territory for Colette, from intimate bedroom beats to stadium-shaking dance anthems. When the Music’s Loud is the sound of an artist at the peak of her powers. Always seeking to push boundaries and explore new territories, Chicago native DJ Colette, continues to discover ways to push her craft and career forward even after over two decades of leading the pack. A founding member of the pioneering DJ collective Superjane—along with DJ Heather, Lady D, and Dayhota—Colette has been an integral part of the Midwest underground since the birth of the 90s. Crafting events in Chicago—ones that would see most of Chicago’s second generation of house music artists and DJs graduate to global scales—her Material events at the storied club Shelter in Chicago’s West Loop neighborhood were seminal in the development of the house sound of Chicago’s North Side, from the early 1990s on. Colette’s groundbreaking combination of incorporating her live vocals over into DJ sets became her signature and a definitive technique that’s won her fans from six continents. As a natural extension of her formative musical academia at Lane Tech College Prep, she began making recordings, with her first release appearing on 1995’s “Moments of Epiphany” produced by Mazi & DJ Motion for Shroom Records. With an ever-increasing velocity of singles released for independent mainstays such as Icon Recordings, Moody Recordings, Nordic Trax, Brique Rouge, including Derrick Carter’s seminal Classic Music Company, eventually led to recording two successful full-length efforts—2005’s Hypnotized and 2007’s Push—for San Franciso’s legendary imprint OM Records. With multiple Dancestar Awards, commercial licenses, TV placements, and a Top #5 Billboard Hit, Colette was ready to make the next move in her career from not only just making records and playing them, but the upward motion to releasing them as well. Colette launched Candy Talk Records in June of 2010 as a platform for more creative control with her own music, their collaborations, and the choice and freedom to work with other record producers of whom she is a fan. Since then, Colette has personally released eight singles and two full-length efforts of her own work—2013’s crowd-funded When The Music’s Loud (named one of Vice’s 99 greatest dance albums of all time) and 2017’s Retrospective. Releasing remixed and original works from the likes of Gettoblaster, Sonny Fodera, Late Nite Alumni, Lawnchair Generals, Rubb Sound System, Scrubfish, WhiteNoize, Demarkus Lewis, Chuck Love, Golf Clap, Local Options, Change Request, and more she has created a home for other like-minded creators to have a platform for their work. With an ever-growing roster of musicians, producers, and DJs, 2019—thus far—has seen Candy Talk release East Coast production stalwart Pete Moss’ mixes of Colette’s “Dreams”, which peaked at #4 on the Traxsource Deep House Top 100. Establishing a remix series highlighting particular producers, Candy Talk has released two volumes in this series thus far with The Rubb Sound System Remixes (CTR015) and The Gettoblaster Remixes (CTR016), and The Demarkus Lewis Remixes (CTR018) featuring his reworks of "Call On Me", “Dreams”, and “We Feel So Hot” slated for the last quarter of 2019. Looking forward, the label anticipates celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2020 with a compilation centered around the best of the Candy Talk catalog—including some new tracks—(CTR019) in the first half of the new year.   About The DJ Sessions - “The DJ Sessions” is a Twitch/Mixcloud "Featured Pa

DJ Ruby on the Virtual Sessions presented by The DJ Sessions 8/10/22 | File Type: video/x-m4v | Duration: 45:51

DJ Ruby on the Virtual Sessions presented by The DJ Sessions 8/10/22 About DJ Ruby - DJ Ruby is the most prolific underground dance music artist that loomed from the party island of Malta, amassing a huge fan base that follows him unconditionally, as well as an established name throughout the global dance music industry, mainly in the progressive scene. Renowned for delivering flawless journey sets and a positive party vibe wherever he performs, DJ Ruby is considered a true pioneer of his caliber, a hard-working and modest person that has always matured with the scene. He now boasts nearly 30 years of experience, which has obtained him countless achievements and acclaim which are impossible to mention all in a few lines. DJ Ruby is responsible for being a major force in starting and shaping Malta’s elite dance music scene into what it is today. For many years, he hosted countless events under the Pure Promotions imprint, setting trends for various clubbing concepts on the island, and introducing multiple generations to electronic dance music. An active career that started in the early 90’s, and still going strong to date, saw DJ Ruby being featured at Malta’s most notable dance events, opening for many of the world’s legendary names such as Faithless, The Prodigy, Sasha, John Digweed, Carl Cox, Paul Oakenfold, Hernan Cattaneo, Sven Vath, Nick Warren, Steve Lawler, and Dave Seaman, as well as holding residencies at a vast array of influential institutions in the country, including a billing at all Renaissance parties in Malta throughout the 2000’s decade. Over the years, DJ Ruby’s diary has formed to be more like an atlas, performing regularly in venues all over the world; India, Ibiza, Mexico, Russia, Germany, Egypt, Jordan, Netherlands, Thailand, Australia, Italy, Dubai, USA, UK & Hong Kong, just to name a very few. He was also included in the line-ups of notorious festivals such as Timewarp, Ozora, Transmission, Berlin’s Love Parade, Creamfields Malta, and Tomorrowland Unite. As a music producer, DJ Ruby holds a vast discography of his own productions, remixes and 3 albums. Many of his tracks were supported by the planet’s leading DJs, and also made it into the charts of multiple digital outlets such as Beatport and Traxsource. After a very long and successful time working in the local scene, in 2018 DJ Ruby went through a complete rebranding and preparation to break into the international scene. In just a few months he managed to make a name for himself, founding a firm place in the global progressive house stage, gaining worldwide recognition. His regular live video sets, streams, guest mixes, Progcast and the Prog On mix series for Proton are hugely followed online. All his sets tend to go viral instantly, making him a very influential body in the scene, receiving constant good feedback from clubbers, blogs, and artists. As a promoter, in recent years he managed to make the progressive house scene bloom again in Malta. This is mostly thanks to his yearly warehouse event project partnership with Guy J, the Secret Series concept, Open to Close shows, and the regular Ruby & Friends parties which already featured respected players such as Cid Inc, Stereo Underground, Jeremy Olander, Miss Monique, Subandrio, Golan Zocher & Emi Galvan.   With a very busy schedule consisting of running events, producing mixes, video sets, touring, and performing non-stop, finding time to do his own music was always very difficult. This changed during Covid-19 days. With no events happening, DJ Ruby spent these months on the studio’s hot seat, producing his own tracks, doing collaborations, and taking on remix work. All the tracks produced during the pandemic are now currently being released back to back on various labels. A great milestone in 2021, was topping multiple Beatport charts with the album compilation ‘Constellations: Orion’ for SLC-6 music. With an impressive biography that can be nearly infinite, DJ Ruby has earned a well

Nima Gorji on the Virtual Sessions presented by The DJ Sessions 8/9/22 | File Type: video/x-m4v | Duration: 57:47

Nima Gorji on the Virtual Sessions presented by The DJ Sessions 8/9/22 About Nima Gorji - To say that music runs in the veins is to know the true meaning behind a 25 year career of Iranian born and Danish native Nima Gorji. Now calling Ibiza home, it is from here that he continues to demonstrate his technique and passion for his music, firmly holding his place amongst his peers and fans alike around the world. All stories must have a beginning, and for Nima it began after listening to artists such as Depeche Mode that the tone was set and the realization that this world was for him, a life of electronic music, machines, turntables and clubs. The 90's in Copenhagen saw the arrival of the clubbing scene with house and techno music, a new sound taking shape in the city and in particular with Nima who was part of this building up of this scene. In 95 he began a residency at the Rust Club, now remembered as one of the most known underground clubs in Copenhagen, where he played alongside a number of international artists, including Kerri Chandler and Kevin Yost. It was also during these years that Nima was focused in the studio and working on his own productions, firstly releasing under the alias Black Powder before moving on and releasing under his own name. Such was his ambition and dedication to his own sound that in 99 he formed his own record label, Welt Recordings to help bring the world's attention to his own productions. This success was soon realized when his track Determination was picked up for the Cocoon (Green & Blue) compilation mixed by Ricardo Villalobos and Loco Dice, and could be heard all over the island of Ibiza that same summer. In 2005 Nima made the decision to move away from his base in Denmark and make for a new one on the island of Ibiza in Spain, where he soon established himself in the local scene with residencies for What's Up at the famous terrace at Space, for Ibiza Underground, Monza and now Next Wave. His music productions continued to gain grounds on labels such as Out Of Orbit, Love Letters From Oslo, Cecille, Murmur and Suburban Tracks.  Currently Nima is building up his label Welt Recordings along with new label NG Trax and expanding an ever busy DJ schedule with tours and gigs lined up around the globe. His music and passion behind the decks continue to stir the imagination and hearts of those who truly appreciate and understand what good music is; what runs in the veins runs true and very deep.   About The DJ Sessions - “The DJ Sessions” is a Twitch/Mixcloud "Featured Partner” live streaming/podcast series featuring electronic music DJ’s/Producers via live mixes/interviews and streamed/distributed to a global audience.  John Tejada on the Virtual Sessions presented by The DJ Sessions 6/28/22 | File Type: video/x-m4v | Duration: 01:04:17

John Tejada on the Virtual Sessions presented by The DJ Sessions 6/28/22 About John Tejada - Normally associated with his peers in techno from Detroit, Europe and elsewhere, John Tejada has embraced electronic music as a personal frontier, expanding on his resume as a techno recording artist as producer, remixer, DJ, and label owner. Known for crafting a brand of subtle, musical techno, his recorded output ranges across tempo and genre lines, from chilled out affairs with spacious arrangements to pulsating, densely layered, deeply energetic tracks that work magnificently in the hands of DJs as well as on the home stereo. John Tejada was born in Vienna, Austria on April 21, 1974. His parents, both professional classical musicians (his mother an opera singer and father a conductor) began his early piano training at the age of 4. In the summer of 1982, John would move with his mother to her place of birth, Los Angeles. It was that summer at the age of 8 another instrument would catch his eye, the drums. Teaching himself to play along to classic rock music, John quickly learned his way around the drum set (an instrument he still plays to this day in his I’m Not A Gun project).  Everything changed however when he got his first taste of early 80’s hip hop music. The impact of those early productions and electronic experimentation was very strong. Soon after, at the age of 12 John was given his first set of turntables and a mixer. He wanted to figure out everything he was hearing DJs do at that time. His first gigs came at the age of 12 for his own school, DJing his school dances. Soon after his fascination with DJing began his fascination with production began. Just as he was completely determined to learn the tricks of local DJs, he now wanted to know how the music was made. His introduction came around the age of 15, when he acquired his first looping delay. Soon after came his first workstation, an Ensoniq EPS sampler. This opened up a whole new world of possibilities. John spent every part of his day honing his craft. In 1991, while still in high school, John was already recording his first productions. He was also involved in college radio, even though he was just a junior in high school. John had a spot on “The Fly ID Show” with DJ Rob One. John produced the show’s first record for Rob and also went on to do some hip hop production on Ruthless Records. It was during this time that he met his long time collaborator and best friend Arian Leviste.  The two met at a hip hop recording session in ‘91. John, already tired of the hip hop scene and where it was going, spent hours talking to Arian about acid house, techno, ambient house and everything they seemed to have in common. The two agreed they would meet weekly to compose material. It took some time before they would release any music, but in 1994 they pressed up their own single and that started a chain reaction of releases. John and Arian during this time also were accepted into CalArts' (California Institute for the Arts) electronic music program, but both decided not to attend to hone their craft on their own. Soon after, John enjoyed a series of releases on European labels like A13, Multiplex, and Generations R&S. In the fall of 1996 he started his own label, Palette Recordings as an outlet to release his own productions without having anyone tell him how to do it. The demand for his music continued to grow and labels such as Ferox, Sino, Mosaic, Immigrant, Plug Research, Pokerflat and 7th City all released Tejada 12”s. John began traveling internationally in ‘97 to showcase his DJ skills around the globe, traveling to more than 25 countries and playing various clubs and festivals around the world. Festivals included Movement (formerly The Detroit Electronic Music Festival), Sonar Festival (in Spain and Tokyo), Dance Valley (Netherlands), Sync Festival (Greece), Mutek Mexico, as well as internationally known spaces such as Fabric (London), Yellow (Tokyo), Rex Club (Paris), The Walt Disney Concert Hall (Los Angeles) and many more. In 1999, John met classical jazz guitarist Takeshi Nishimoto, which was the beginning of another musical frontier. The two had a similar meeting as John and Arian had years before and began talking about making music. The project I’m Not A Gun was born and signed soon after to Berlin-based City Center Offices. This project would bring back John’s own training as a drummer while also trying his hand at the guitar. The project became a mix of John’s own electronic productions along with Takeshi’s professional guitar playing and John’s drumming. The project has enjoyed great reviews and success the world over and the duo has performed live in LA, Japan and Germany. In the summer of 2004, John would - in one week - create the two songs that would catapult his techno career. The classic “Sweat On The Walls,” and “Mono On Mono” were released almost at the same time on two different labels. “Sweat” was released on Pokerflat and “Mono On Mono” on Palette. Together the two records sold over 23,000 copies on vinyl. This lead to the equally successful follow up singles “Paranoia,” “Mind Bend” (with more recent collaborator and Palette-signing, Justin Maxwell) “Voyager,” and “The End Of It All.” With dozens of singles and remixes to his credit, he has also produced full-length albums for Playhouse, Palette, Plug Research, deFocus, Moods and Grooves, Immigrant and A13. ENDO on the Virtual Sessions presented by The DJ Sessions 6/27/22 About ENDO - There are individuals who are early adopters, then there are those who are innovators. Mike Henderson aka ENDO falls into the latter category. A ubiquitous figure in electronic dance music for going on two decades, ENDO is a musician, a DJ, a teacher, an inventor, and a visionary. A graduate of Berklee College of Music with a degree in electronic music production and music synthesis and a lifelong drummer, ENDO’s technical know-how is an inherent gift.  He serves as a product specialist for the always innovative audio technology company iZotope and as an online DJ instructor for his alma mater, Berklee Online. He has an ongoing relationship with Native Instruments as a certified Native specialist, having trained the likes of Carl Cox, Grandmaster Flash, Danny Tenaglia, and David Morales on Traktor. He has contributed greatly to the accuracy of Mixed In Key’s algorithm.    He is also the co-founder of the evolutionary mapping platform, MIDI Monsters, and the booking platform, AGNT. “My sets are all harmonic progression,” says ENDO. “Every song is in key, or intentionally out of key, modulated harmonically. You can subliminally play with people’s emotions with harmonic mixing. There’s all this tension, then you give them the harmonic release. You have to tell your story. You have to find the songs that speak to you. That’s the art form, the intuition of a good DJ.”  ENDO has unleashed his patented brand of harmonic mixing at events across the globe including: Pacha, Marquee, and Cielo in New York, Sound in Los Angeles, Guvernment and Coda in Toronto, Stereo in Montreal, Spybar in Chicago, Heart in Miami, Sands in Ibiza, Club Vertigo in Costa Rica, as well as BPM Festival in Mexico and Electric Festival in Aruba. He has played alongside John Digweed, DJ Craze, Roc Raida, Victor Calderone, Danny Tenaglia, Carl Cox, Chus & Ceballos, Eric Prydz, to name just a few, and perhaps given them a much-sought-after technical tip or two in the process.
