From Complex to Queens, Episode 12: Brooklyn MUST win | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2897

Welcome to From Complex to Queens, the podcast from Amazin’ Avenue focusing on the Mets’ minor leagues. This week, Steve Sypa is down in South Carolina scouting the Fireflies, so Ken Lavin and Lukas Vlahos are on their own to discuss the past week of Mets minor league baseball. We begin with a discussion of how the various affiliates fared last week, which quickly devolves into a discussion of the pettiest series in affiliated baseball. After that, we discuss our hitter and pitcher of the week, Ronny Mauricio and Chris Mazza before running through some of the pitchers in the system who could potentially be in line to fill in for Noah Syndergaard while he’s on the 10-day injured list. Next we preview the return of short-season baseball, and review some of the players we’re looking forward to seeing in Brooklyn. We then move into a short discussion of where we’d like to see the Mets assign 2019 first round pick Brett Baty after he gets his feet wet in the complex, before wrapping up by looking back on the career of outfielder Eudy Pina in this week’s installment of Oh Yea, That Guy.  Amazin' Avenue in Conversation, Episode 7: Ron Swoboda | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2055

Welcome to Amazin’ Avenue in Conversation, a new podcast from Amazin’ Avenue where we invite interesting people on the show to talk about themselves, the Mets, and more. This week, we welcome Ron Swoboda onto the show. Ron was a member of the 1969 Miracle Mets, and was responsible for a dramatic catch in game 4 of the World Series, which kept the game tied and allowed the Mets to come back and win in the 10th inning. That play provides the title for Ron’s new memoir, Here’s the Catch, which went on sale on June 11th. Ron’s book is available now via Amazon, Barnes and Noble, or wherever else you get books. Make sure to catch Ron at the 1969 anniversary weekend at the end of this month at Citi Field. You can also find him on Facebook and Instagram.  A Pod of Their Own, Episode 11: Sometimes the Mets are alright | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 4235

Welcome back to A Pod of Their Own, a show by the women of Amazin’ Avenue where we talk all things Mets, social justice issues in baseball, and normalize female voices in the sports podcasting space.  This week, we begin by discussing the Mets bouncing back with a solid week but the Mets couldn’t refrain from Metsing and mishandled Robinson Cano’s injury.  Next, we answer fan emails during our Seventh Inning Stretch segment.  We change gears after that and take a look at the underside of baseball when it comes to signing players from Latin America. The Dodgers were recently nominated for Humanitarian of the Year which concerned us considering they are one of the teams under investigation by the Department of Justice. We wrap things up with Walk-off Wins, where each of us talks about what’s making us happy this week, baseball-related or otherwise.  UnforMETable, Episode 11: Dave Mlicki | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1370

Welcome to UnforMETable, a new show from Amazin’ Avenue that looks back on less heralded, more obscure, but quintessential Mets players from the past This week, Rob Wolff travels back to the late 1990’s, when Interleague play finally became a reality. On June 16, 1997, the Mets and the Yankees tangled in the first meaningful game between two New York baseball franchises in forty years. That game would thrust an unheralded mid-rotation starter named Dave Mlicki into the spotlight, where he would have the game of his life.    As always, you can listen or subscribe to this and all of our wonderful Amazin’ Avenue Audio podcasts through Apple Podcasts, where we encourage you to leave a review if you enjoy the show. Mets’ minor leagues. This week, Steve Sypa, Lukas Vlahos, and Ken Lavin discuss Josh Wolf and Matthew Allan- the Mets’ second and third selections in the 2019 MLB Draft- the unconventional strategy the Mets employed on day two, and selections that might fly under the radar, be they high schoolers, from the JuCO ranks, college juniors, or college seniors. After, Steve sits down with Amazin’ Avenue staff writer emeritus and Major League Baseball Rule 4 draft enthusiast Alex Nelson, who shares his expert opinion on how the Mets did.  Amazin' Avenue Audio (The Show), Episode 9: Aceson Vargas | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2708

Welcome to Amazin’ Avenue Audio (The Show), the new/old favorite from Amazin’ Avenue editors Chris McShane and Brian Salvatore. With Brian off this week, Allison McCague pinch hits, while Chris tries to check off all of Brian's responsibilities on the show. The show starts with the Mets' series win over the Giants, which felt like the team's first series win in a long time. And then we get into the most recent puzzling Mickey Callaway decisions. After the break, we delve into the ace-like performance of Jason Vargas, and there's a Johan Santana comp thrown in there that at least kind of makes sense.  A Pod of Their Own, Episode 10: Pink and sparkles and midriffs, oh my! | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 4326

Welcome back to A Pod of Their Own, a show by the women of Amazin’ Avenue where we talk all things Mets, social justice issues in baseball, and normalize female voices in the sports podcasting space. This week, we look at the Mets’ unfortunate west coast road trip, and the bullpen meltdowns that made it one to forget. We also welcome back Jeff McNeil and mull over upcoming roster decisions. And in the best update in a long time, we send the very best to Ron Darling in his much-anticipated return to the broadcast booth. Next, we look at the state of women’s merchandise in sports, and how leagues are falling short on design and quality. Why doesn’t MLB want our money? Then we dig into the mailbag and read some of your awesome emails in the Seventh Inning Stretch - keep ‘em coming! Finally, we wrap things up with Walk-off Wins, where each of us talks about what’s making us happy this week, baseball-related or otherwise. Welcome to From Complex to Queens, the podcast from Amazin’ Avenue focusing on the Mets’ minor leagues. This week, Steve Sypa, Lukas Vlahos, and Ken Lavin discuss Brett Baty, who the Mets took with the 12th overall pick in the amateur draft last night. Given the incredibly slow pace of the first two rounds of the draft, they were left to wonder what the Mets would do with their second pick, which was made well after this recording—but you'll hear plenty about that and the rest of the Mets' draft next week!  A Pod of Their Own, Episode 9: Put in a ramp! | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 4288

Welcome back to A Pod of Their Own, a show by the women of Amazin’ Avenue where we talk all things Mets, social justice issues in baseball, and normalize female voices in the sports podcasting space. This week, we begin by discussing this past week of Mets games, which went much better than the week before and featured a lot of clutch performances from the Mets’ depth pieces. We also talk about injury updates, the Mets’ lack of pitching depth, and the recent bullpen implosion against the Dodgers. Next, we have a conversation about stadium accessibility, which was inspired by the Mets’ new backpack policy. This discussion was made possible by all of the wonderful folks who reached out to Maggie about their experiences at Citi Field and other ballparks—thank you! Finally, we wrap things up with Walk-off Wins, where each of us talks about what’s making us happy this week, baseball-related or otherwise.  UnforMETable, Episode 9: Ryan Jaroncyk | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1278

Welcome to UnforMETable, a new show from Amazin’ Avenue that looks back on less heralded, more obscure, but quintessential Mets players from the past This week, Rob Wolff travels back to the 1995 MLB Draft. In a draft that would see future major league stars such as Roy Halladay, Todd Helton, and Kerry Wood go in the first round—not to mention future Met Carlos Beltran in the second—the Mets use their first round selection to tab a highly-touted young shortstop prospect with great tools named Ryan Jaroncyk.  Unfortunately, the Mets would never get the chance to find out if Jaroncyk could become a star in his own right, as the young man would quit the game of baseball a mere two years later at the age of 20 in Low A ball.  Learn more about the scouting process that made Jaroncyk seem like a can’t-miss prospect, and the reasons behind his abrupt abandonment of the game.  As always, you can listen or subscribe to this and all of our wonderful Amazin’ Avenue Audio podcasts through Apple Podcasts, where we encourage you to leave a review if you enjoy the show.
