Is Jonathan India's Rookie of the Year Performance the Best in Cincinnati Reds History? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1470

Jonathan India built an impressive season to become NL Rookie of the Year, but is it the best ever for a Cincinnati Reds player? We break down the other seven Reds Rookie of Year Winners and match India's performance up with each of them. Then to finish off the pod, we rank India's season amongst the eight and look at one Rookie of the Year winner for the Reds who wouldn't win the award, today. Frank Robinson was the first Cincinnati Reds player to win Rookie of the Year. He heads up a group of talented first-years that includes Johnny Bench, Pete Rose, Tommy Helms, Chris Sabo, Pat Zachry, and Scott Williamson. They all had good seasons, but who had the best? We then match up Jonathan India's year with each of the previous Reds Rookie of the Year winners and tell you who takes the crown, one-on-one. Some are easy to call, others are too close for comfort. The podcast concludes with a ranking of each Reds Rookie of the Year performance. Not looking at each player's entire career, just their rookie season. Frank Robinson had the best rookie season, but where does Jonathan India end up? And which Reds Rookie of the Year wouldn't have won the award in today's MLB baseball climate? *FOLLOW* the podcast on your favorite app, subscribe on YouTube, and follow on Twitter and Instagram @lockedonreds Also follow @jefffcarr on Twitter and @carrjefff on Instagram Call or text (513) 549-0159 Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!  Bobby Nightengale on Jonathan India and Rebuilding or not Rebuilding for this Cincinnati Reds Team | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1727

Jonathan India won the NL Rookie of the Year Award after largely being an afterthought this spring training. Jeff is joined by Bobby Nightengale to talk about the dominance of the Cincinnati Reds second baseman and what he means to the team, moving forward. They also talk about Joey Votto and what we can expect from him next year, whether the Reds will be rebuilding this offseason, and which fringe players could make an impact on the next season. When Jonathan India was announced the starter at second base on Opening Day, it was a surprise. When he was announced the NL Rookie of the Year it was no surprise. The rookie star for the Cincinnati Reds took the league by storm and is the most important player for the Reds to build around, as the seasons move on and Joey Votto comes to the end of his tenure in Cincinnati. The messaging from Nick Krall about this current offseason, though, is of cost-cutting and taking a step back, which seems to lend a thought to a rebuild. How likely are the Reds to trade Luis Castillo and Sonny Gray and could they actually turn it into a positive by bringing up Hunter Greene and Nick Lodolo? When we get to the next season, guys like Max Schrock, TJ Friedl, Reiver Sanmartin, Dauri Moreta, even Aristides Aquino, will be on the fringes. Which of these guys will the Reds be trusting, if any? Or are there other players within the Farm System that could be brought up? *FOLLOW* the podcast on your favorite app and on Twitter and Instagram @lockedonreds Also follow @jefffcarr on Twitter and @carrjefff on Instagram Call or text (513) 549-0159 Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!  Jonathan India Wins NL Rookie if the Year and Headlines an Impressive Young Core for the Cincinnati Reds | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1564

Jonathan India won the NL Rookie of the Year in the most obvious vote, ever (except for the one guy who voted for Trevor Rogers). India is at the head of a group of five-to-six players who are the core of the Cincinnati Reds future. The challenge will be how the Reds support this core. Jonathan India's baseball IQ proved to be ultra-impressive and the key to his 2021 successes, as well as his future hype. How he translates that to future success will determine a lot for the Cincinnati Reds and their competitive aspirations. India leads a group of Tyler Stephenson, Hunter Greene, Nick Lodolo, and possibly Jesse Winker and Tyler Mahle as the core of the Cincinnati Reds. How management and the ones signing the checks will support them will be the biggest question-mark, moving forward. They must be all-in, one way or another. *FOLLOW* the podcast on your favorite app and on Twitter and Instagram @lockedonreds Also follow @jefffcarr on Twitter and @carrjefff on Instagram Call or text (513) 549-0159 Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!  Why Jonathan India may not win NL Rookie of the Year and What's at Stake for Major League Baseball with these Labor Negotiations | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1687

Jonathan India had an amazing rookie season and has swept pretty much every rookie of the year award to this point, so there's no way the Cincinnati Reds second baseman will miss out on the BBWAA NL Rookie of the Year award...right? Before Jeff tells you why Dylan Carlson or Trevor Rogers might steal the show, he looks at something MLB and the Players should be considering as they get set to haggle over money. Also, is Jonathan India the best Cincinnati Reds player for the foreseeable future? With the Collective Bargaining Agreement set to expire on December 1st, the owners and the player of MLB are getting set for a battle. Amidst all the posturing and bickering, one thing cannot be forgotten: the fans. With baseball's tenuous position amongst the major professional sports in America, a prolonged lockout could be damning. Tonight the NL Rookie of the Year Award winner (among others) will be announced. It seems intuitive that Jonathan India will take home the hardware, but it's not guaranteed. Dylan Carlosn and Trevor Rogers have an argument. And who is the best Cincinnati Red for the foreseeable future? Considering all avenues of hitting, fielding, running, health, marketability, and so on, is it Jonathan India? Is it Jesse Winker? Is it Luis Castillo? Or who is it? Jeff gives you his take. *FOLLOW* the podcast on your favorite app and on Twitter and Instagram @lockedonreds Also follow @jefffcarr on Twitter and @carrjefff on Instagram Call or text (513) 549-0159 Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!  Why This is Now a Rebuild for the Cincinnati Reds and who could be the Most Important Trade Pieces | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1754

Nick Krall tipped his hand at the beginning of this offseason by saying the Cincinnati Reds would "realign the payroll with their budget." The Reds are going to begin a new rebuild, this offseason. IT doesn't have to be to the level of decimation and negative timeline of 2015, though, as the Reds have players who could bring in a favorable return. Luis Castillo and Sonny Gray are important pitchers on this team, and can be aces for many other pitching staffs. Jesse Winker is a young, talented hitter with the ability play the corner outfield positions adequately. All three have what other teams covet almost as much as talent: multiple years of team control. So, with savvy trades by Krall and the front office, this doesn't have to be a lengthy time of non-playoff competition. They also have guys in-house who they can build around. Jonathan India is the odds on favorite to win the NL Rookie of the Year award, Tyler Mahle was arguably the team's best pitcher in 2022, and if they don't trade him, Winker can help anchor the lineup. Saying the word rebuild does not have to mean years of 90+ losses for the Reds, if they do it right. *FOLLOW* the podcast on your favorite app and on Twitter and Instagram @lockedonreds Also follow @jefffcarr on Twitter and @carrjefff on Instagram Call or text (513) 549-0159 Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!  Is this the Lowest Cincinnati Reds Fans Have Ever Felt About the Franchise? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1571

There was a point when the Big Red Machine was taken apart. Players were traded away, or let go through free agency, and it all had to end. That doesn't compare to the frustration that is being wrought at Great American Ballpark, currently. The Tony Perez trade signaled the end of an era, but at least there were recent successes for Reds fans to hang their hats on. As it currently stands, the Reds have been next-to irrelevant for the better part of 30 years...and it seems like we're being told to wait a little longer. There's also another news outlet crowning Jonathan India the NL Rookie of the Year, now all that's left is the big one. Jeff Ruby is doing his best to bring Nick Castellanos back to Cincinnati, but will it be enough? And Nick Lodolo had an interesting year in the minors but looks poised to compete for a spot in the Reds starting rotation. What is it that is keeping him from being a lock? *FOLLOW* the podcast on your favorite app and on Twitter and Instagram @lockedonreds Also follow @jefffcarr on Twitter and @carrjefff on Instagram Call or text (513) 549-0159 Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!  Cincinnati Reds Relief Pitcher Lucas Sims Looks Back on a Challenging Season | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1775

The Cincinnati Reds bullpen was much maligned in 2021 but one bright spot was Lucas Sims. He joins Jeff on today's podcast to talk about the season that was. They break down the game of sleet in which the umpire kept tossing Lucas a new baseball and Lucas kept tossing them to the dugout. They also talk about the departure of Tucker Barnhart, sticky stuff, elbow injuries that don't require Tommy John, and what a save means to him. *FOLLOW* the podcast on your favorite app and on Twitter and Instagram @lockedonreds Also follow @jefffcarr on Twitter and @carrjefff on Instagram Call or text (513) 549-0159 Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!  The Dangers of the Cincinnati Reds Trying to Trade, Right Now, and the Bullpen Trust Factor | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1637

Aside from making it plain that they are looking to shed payroll above all else, the Cincinnati Reds also have another factor working against productive trades as we are in the waning days of the current MLB collective bargaining agreement. Jeff tells you what that is and how it could torpedo hopes even more if the Redlegs are hasty about making deals. He also breaks down the Cincinnati bullpen and why the trust factor is so nebulous as we begin the offseason. *FOLLOW* the podcast on your favorite app and on Twitter and Instagram @lockedonreds Also follow @jefffcarr on Twitter and @carrjefff on Instagram Call or text (513) 549-0159 Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!  The Direction of the Cincinnati Reds is not yet Detrimental, but it is Murky | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1648

With Wade Miley gone, Tucker Barnhart gone, Nick Castellanos likely gone, and now rumors coming out about Luis Castillo may be traded, what is going on with the Cincinnati Reds? Jeff tries to explain what he see is the direction of the franchise and how a well-executed trade or two can alter it, in a good way, but the Reds current position among the league is precarious. *FOLLOW* the podcast on your favorite app and on Twitter and Instagram @lockedonreds Also follow @jefffcarr on Twitter and @carrjefff on Instagram Call or text (513) 549-0159 Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!  Possible Free Agent Targets in the Outfield, Bullpen, and Backup Catcher for the Cincinnati Reds | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1516

Sure, the Cincinnati Reds will most likely be quite stingy with their transactions, this MLB offseason, but that doesn't preclude us from taking a look at what's out there! Jeff breaks down possibilities to replace Nick Castellanos (like Kyle Schwarber), possible bullpen additions (like Kirby Yates), and a backup catcher idea (paging Manny Pina). *FOLLOW* the podcast on your favorite app and on Twitter and Instagram @lockedonreds Also follow @jefffcarr on Twitter and @carrjefff on Instagram Call or text (513) 549-0159 Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!  Why the Trade was Good for Tucker Barnhart and Why Nick Krall has Cincinnati Reds Fans Concerned | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1689

Tucker Barnhart being traded made sense for him and it ultimately made sense for the Cincinnati Reds. Jeff breaks that down before telling you why the comments that Nick Krall had for the explanation of the trade just made everything a lot less fun. Krall had plenty to say that sounded like a rebuild without coming out and saying it. This is one of those situations where Jeff wants to be wrong... *FOLLOW* the podcast on your favorite app and on Twitter and Instagram @lockedonreds Also follow @jefffcarr on Twitter and @carrjefff on Instagram Call or text (513) 549-0159 Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!
