 Turn Coat- Chapters 5, 6, 7 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 4306

ARTIST CREDIT! https://www.deviantart.com/knightofwater/art/Nuclear-Naagloshii-503431633Thank you all so much for joining us again this week as we watch Harry dealing with this terrible creature that has decided to torment him and his werewolf friends. He tries his best to cope, but it still winds up mortally wounding Kirby, and almost takes out Andi as well. It's really a bad scene, man. For those of you who want to visit the site that I reference regarding a question on how to talk about the creature we deem The Menace, here is the link to the question I asked. https://www.wernative.org/ask-auntie-questions/can-i-use-the-name-sk-nwalker-on-a-podcast-where-that-creature-is-a-villain-in-the-book-i-m-coveringThanks again to you all for listening, and I will see you next week with a new episode!

 Turn Coat- Chapters 1-4 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 3682

It's time for us to get into the next book, my pretties! FINALLY! I'm so excited! This one wastes no time in dropping a pretty huge problem into our fucking laps right the fuck away. It's really funny too because the only illustration that I could find of Morgan (that I thought was good, anyway) is from Dead Beat and involves him screaming in Harry's face with a sword at Harry's throat, so the fact that he comes to Harry for help is well documented as an anomaly even among illustrators. Then, there's something else that gets thrown into the mix rather abruptly. Harry doesn't know what the hell it is, but something is following him down the streets of Chicago, and it's so unbelievably foul that it literally sends him into a sort of seizure. By the time we wrap up on chapter 4, Harry is still writhing in pain on the sidewalk, attempting to curl into the fetal position, and accidentally biting his tongue. IT'S A BAD SCENE, FOLKS!Thanks so much to you all for listening, and I will see you again soon with a new episode!

Side Jobs & Brief Cases: Last Call & AAAA Wizardry | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 5831

Artwork credit! https://www.deviantart.com/jordanschwagerart/art/Mcnally-466122440Happy New Year to you all, and welcome to the year of our Lizzo 2020! I hope that you all had delightful holidays and you're feeling bright-eyed, bushy-tailed, and ready to get out there and...listen to some podcasts. This episode, RoShawn and I are covering the last of the stories before Turn Coat begins, from Side Jobs and Brief Cases, and as far as I'm concerned they vary wildly in terms of quality. 'Last Call' feels, as RoShawn puts it, like a step backward in terms of Butcher's abilities as a writer, and it doesn't really honor Karrin's character the way she deserves. 'AAAA Wizardry', on the other hand, is a really nice glimpse into how Harry has grown as a person due to his own experiences, and due to his practice from teaching. Next week is Turn Coat, y'all, and I'm super excited. Thanks for listening, and see you next episode!

Side Jobs & Brief Cases: The Warrior & Curses | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 6365

First off, there's been a change of plans. I say at the end of this episode that there will be an episode on Christmas week, but I've decided (after a harrowing week) to take 2 weeks off instead of 1, so there will be no new episodes until the new year! Sorry for the gap, but also not sorry as I will hopefully avoid a nervous breakdown this way. This episode, we're covering two stories from two different collections, and these stories have very different vibes to them. The Warrior is, as RoShawn says, much more in the style of the main series: harrowing, high-tension, and rather serious. Curses, on the other hand, is much more lighthearted and fun, and she seems to have enjoyed that one much more. I hope that you all enjoy the episode and have an amazing holiday season! Thanks so much for listening, see you in 2020!

Side Jobs- Day off & Back Up | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 5649

I can't find any site link for crediting this art other than some vague searches turning up Mika Merrylark's name, so if anyone has further info please feel free to let me know! Hello you wonderful folks, and welcome to the first episode of story coverage before Turn Coat begins! Some of you may have seen on Facebook or Twitter that RoShawn got sick, and normally we just reschedule a recording when that happens. Sadly, though, we had ALREADY rescheduled from another day where she had plans, so there were no free days left. This means that next week, there won't be an episode. My apologies, and thanks for your patience. These stories are all about Harry and Thomas, and for the first time (with Backup) we get to see some more of what Thomas is about and the things that he's involved in which Harry himself isn't even aware of. Meanwhile there's Day Off, and that one is just a Murphy's Law (heh) tale of someone who was looking forward to a little peace a quiet and a nice date...being woefully disappointed. Thanks so much to you all for listening, and I will see you soon with a new episode!

 Small Favor- Chapters 45 & 46 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 6598

Art Credit! https://vincentchongart.myportfolio.com/bw-art-the-dresden-filesSince RoShawn believes that Michael has been forced into early retirement, I decided to honor his work by sharing this illustration of the earlier battle with the Hobs, which I think is pretty rad. This is the final episode of Small Favor, and it's going to be a while before we start Turn Coat because there are no less than 6 short stories between these two books. According to the reading list found here http://www.howtoread.me/dresden-files-reading-order/, this is the order the stories should be read in: Small Favor“Backup” – Novella is a story from Thomas’s POV, in Side Jobs“Day Off” – Short story in Side Jobs“The Warrior” – Short story in Side Jobs“Curses” – Short story in Brief Cases“AAAA Wizardry” – in Brief Cases“Last Call” – Short story in Side JobsTurn CoatWe will be covering 2 stories per episode for the next few weeks, taking the week of Christmas off from recording. Thanks so much for listening, and we will see you soon with a new episode!

 Small Favor- Chapters 42, 43, 44 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 5088

ART CREDIT! https://www.deviantart.com/gaelvin/art/Nickelheads-145652460It's time for the penultimate episode of Small Favor, and the moment that we really get to appreciate how far Harry has come in his growth as a person. The whole plan the Denarians had come up with was predicated on him losing his temper, lashing out, and being impulsive, and for once he doesn't live up to those expectations. There's other stuff going on here, too, that has nothing to do with rescuing Ivy. First of all, there's the fact that this island feels so familiar to Harry that he's literally able to predict how many steps there are on the staircase leading to the building where they're holding Ivy. He knows where the potholes are. He knows everything about the place, but has no idea why. Then, of course, there's the injury sustained by Michael Carpenter. RoShawn thinks that he will be okay based on the fact that we know he is wearing body armor, but is she right? Thanks so much for listening, and I will see you all again soon with a new episode!

 Small Favor- Chapters 39, 40, 41 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 4704

ART CREDIT! https://www.artstation.com/artwork/3bagEWelcome to the episode where we finally arrive at the Island, and one the way there we encounter some kelpies. Which is weird, because I always thought they looked like horses but here, they have tentacles. Yikes. There's also a pretty awesome bit with Dresden calling out Rosanna for the whole bit that she's doing with manipulating the men around her. It was very astute moment for him and I love that Harry admits that he would have fallen for it not too long ago. Thanks so much for listening, and I will see you soon with a new episode!
