The gang reflects on their first week of studying the musculoskeletal system. They talk all about bones, muscles, their favorite memories of the week, and struggle on finding the word "decision tree". They also chat about what they wish they did differently during their first year of medical school.
The team is back from holiday break and are taking on their second-to-last classroom course of medical school. They talk about whether or not they enjoyed their week of dermatology and if they are enjoying musculoskeletal/dermatology as a course. They also mention some of their yearly themes and their favorite memories from break.
The gang gets together to reminisce on two long weeks full of studying, multiple exams, and clinical placements. They discuss what they are looking forward to over the upcoming holiday season as they get a temporary break from their hectic med school lives.
Only two weeks left till GI is over! The team talks about what they learned over the week, the liver, and about what they did over the weekend. They are also excited about the upcoming thanksgiving weekend and a "longer" break.
The team is halfway through GI and hoping that last half goes like a peristaltic rush. They talked about the midterm and how they are feeling about the course so far. Chris also asks the team how they are feeling in general, a question not often acknowledged in medical school.
It is a poopy week in medical school and I mean that literally. The team talks about what they learned in the second week of GI and how they are enjoying the course so far. They also talk about vasovagal syncope, a condition some of them are personally familiar with.
It is time for the gastrointestinal system! The team talks about what they covered during the first week and whether or not they are excited for this new organ system. They also discuss Step 1 preparation and wade into the debate of the century, whether or not acetaminophen is an NSAID.
Neuro is finally over! The teams talks about how they felt about the course overall and how they feel burnt-out only after one course.
7 weeks down and 1 to go! The end of Neuro approaches and the team, except Chris, are happy to see it go. This week they learned about psychological conditions and well as an absolute truckload of medications for psychological illnesses. And as promised, here is the link to the study about CBT in the book form: https://dx.plos.org/10.1371/journal.pone.0052735
Unbelievably, there are only two weeks left in neuro. The team talks about what has happened over the last two weeks and what they covered. They try out a new rating system for interactions with society and if you hear any cheers for neuro during this podcast, it was edited by Chris.
In the words of Bon Jovi, "Halfway there, living on prayer." The team is 4 weeks into neuro and counting down the days until they have learned their last spinal tract. They talk about how they are dealing with the amount of content being covered in very few weeks and Luke tries (and fails) to convince the group that two podcast segments should be combined.
The third week of neuro is complete and trying to learn all this information is starting to give the gang a headache. Join the crew as they discuss their thoughts on surviving the "most difficult" organ system and how they are keeping sane. They also reflect on their medical student origin story and share the moments that started their pursuit towards medical school.
With two weeks of neuro under their belt, but probably half a week of understanding, the team gets together to talk about how they are dealing with a really difficult course. They also touch on all the things they need to do outside the academic curriculum as well as how medical school has changed their perception of medical news.
After a relaxing summer break, the team is back and starting their second week of medical school. On this episode, they reflect on their summer, compare their first week of M2 year to their first week of M1 year, and chat about the joys of learning Neuro.
Summer is over and there is a new group of rising physicians at school. In this episode, we have conversation about the first week of medical school from the perspective of brand new students.
