Breakout WR candidates and rookie RBs to watch out for | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:53:53

June is here, and we’re edging closer and closer to fantasy football draft season. Gamers and industry experts alike are already mocking, including our very own Liz Loza and Matt Harmon. Everyone has their own specific processes for getting themselves ready to draft. Reading material and tools aplenty exist, and Matt himself happens to be a pioneer of a popular one. In this week’s podcast episode Matt and Liz discuss exactly what Reception Perception is, how it works, and how it can help fantasy players with their wide receivers (7:40). Key things have stood out to Matt this year, like the massive gap between the Panthers WRs (13:50), the elite success of Calvin Ridley (24:50), and the truth of Amari Cooper as a Dallas Cowboy (24:50). Oh, and Michael Thomas had perhaps the best season Matt’s ever tracked over the last 5 years (30:10). [Join or create a 2019 Yahoo Fantasy Football league for free today] Liz and Matt also delve deeper into the pool of lesser-known rookie running backs, talking about the likes of Benny Snell, RyQuell Armstead, and Dexter Williams (36:20). Oh, and Gerald McCoy signed with the Carolina Panthers (4:25) — any thoughts, 49ers fans? Remember to leave your voicemail for a future episode at 888-85-YAHOO (that's 888-859-2466).  Industry mock drafts and the grey area between RB1s and 2s | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:53:01

We’re in the waning days of May, but it’s never too early to talk fantasy football, and one of the most enjoyable aspects of the offseason is being able to mock draft. Matt Harmon and Liz Loza have been taking part in some industry mocks lately, and they start off this week’s fantasy football podcast episode by talking about the drafts they’ve completed thus far (5:00). As you know, our fantasy football experts have been putting out their team previews for the 2019 season, and most recently they took on the Indianapolis Colts. Liz filmed a video in which she questioned whether Colts running back Marlon Mack can finish the season in the RB1 tier. Can he join the likes of Saquon Barkley, Ezekiel Elliott, and Alvin Kamara? On that same note, which other running backs are worthy of the fantasy RB1 tier? Liz and Matt take on the backs who fall in that grey area between RB1 and RB2 including Mack, Damien Williams, James Conner, David Johnson, Melvin Gordon, Le'Veon Bell, Nick Chubb and Dalvin Cook (17:00). [Join or create a 2019 Yahoo Fantasy Football league for free today] Finally, Liz and Matt tackle the over/under win totals for the AFC/NFC South (34:50) and the AFC/NFC West teams (41:50). Can the Rams and Chiefs repeat as double-digit victory division winners? Will Tampa Bay and Oakland reach .500?  Questionable WR groups, plus AFC/NFC North win totals | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:47:55

There are 32 teams in the NFL, yet how many of them boast a true WR1? Sure, the Texans have DeAndre Hopkins, the Falcons Julio Jones, but not every team is so lucky. Matt Harmon and Liz Loza address this and more in this week’s fantasy football podcast episode. Before we can get to that, we have to get to Liz' exciting weekend at the NFLPA Rookie Premiere party, schmoozing with all the biggest 2019 rookies (0:45). She gets into her Reddit-infamous photo with Denver Broncos QB Drew Lock and dishes the dirt on which rookie QB will now be known as 'the breadstick boy.' Back to those aforementioned wide receivers. The conversation began thanks to a voicemail message Matt and Liz received. The caller asked who is the most relevant wide receiver on the San Francisco 49ers: Dante Pettis, Deebo Samuel, or Jalen Hurd (15:00). Sure, the caller didn’t mention Marquise Goodwin (or Jordan Matthews), but it sheds light on a larger question regarding wide receiver groups lacking a true No. 1 target — a true X-receiver . Liz and Matt discuss some of these WR corps with unclear hierarchies including the Ravens, Bills, Patriots, Jaguars, Panthers, Cardinals, Steelers and Packers (19:00). Finally, Liz and Matt tackle the over/under win totals for the AFC-and-NFC North teams, and it seems like the Cincinnati Bengals and Detroit Lions will be the only teams on the wrong end of .500 (42:30).  Talking Jets, RB rankings, AFC/NFC East win totals and special guest Boban Marjanović | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:49:09

You know, for a moment there, it seemed like the New York Jets were actually moving in the right direction. Their young quarterback, Sam Darnold, showed signs of potential greatness last season. They hired an offensive-minded head coach in Adam Gase. They signed Le’Veon Bell. The defense looks promising. And then they fired their general manager and vice president of player personnel. Suffice it to say, Liz Loza and Matt Harmon have some thoughts about the state of the Jets’ franchise in this week’s fantasy football podcast episode (0:20). [Join or create a 2019 Yahoo Fantasy Football league for free today] Elsewhere in the NFL, there are whispers of Minnesota Vikings tight end Kyle Rudolph being on the trade block. What with the Vikings’ cap space and their selection of rookie Irv Smith in the 2019 NFL Draft, Rudolph’s future with the team remains up in the air. Where would you like to see him land, were he to be traded? Liz and Matt currently have Rudolph in the late-teens on their TE draft rankings (12:15). They also talk about the state of their current running back draft rankings on this week’s episode (21:05). Moving from fantasy to reality, Liz and Matt try to predict over/under win totals for the NFC-and-AFC East teams (31:05). Normally, Liz and Matt would move onto answering their voicemails, but, in order to discuss something very important, a special guest joined them on this podcast episode: Philadelphia 76ers (very) big man, Boban Marjanović! Boban joined Liz and Matt to discuss the release of his new film, John Wick: Chapter 3 — Parabellum as well as his road to the NBA from Serbia (39:45).  Stock watch: Josh Rosen, Josh Jacobs, the Seahawks, Packers and more | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:50:38

With the 2019 NFL Draft in the rearview mirror, we’ve been taking a long look at each team’s offseason acquisitions to gauge who got better, who got worse, and who stayed the same. In this week’s fantasy football podcast, Liz Loza and Matt Harmon continue to review the state of some key squads. And how could they talk team changes without mentioning the big trade the Miami Dolphins pulled off that sent quarterback Josh Rosen to the Sunshine State? Is there a chance Chosen Rosen can revive his career as a ‘Fin, or is he just a placeholder in Tankville (2:00)? Liz and Matt also discuss rookie runner Josh Jacobs who, after the unfortunate season-ending Achilles tear suffered by Isaiah Crowell, looks like the man in Oakland (12:40). Where will you draft him in fantasy this season? [Join or create a 2019 Yahoo Fantasy Football league for free today] In transactional news, there are rumors of Dak Prescott and Amari Cooper “teaming up” to try and get PAID by the Cowboys (17:40). In a new segment, Liz and Matt deliver a stock watch for NFL teams like the Seahawks, as well as the Falcons, Eagles, Packers, 49ers — who’s rising, who’s falling (22:15)? And in the same vein of a stock watch, Liz and Matt reveal the players whom they’re hearing a Jumanji drumbeat for (you remember that drumbeat, c’mon). Matt’s hearing it for Ronald Jones and James Washington, while Liz is hearing it for D’Onta Foreman (40:20). Fantasy football fans want to find out who, if any of these rookies, will be fantasy viable this coming season. Liz Loza and Matt Harmon are here to help you get through it all in this week’s podcast episode. In previous podcast episodes, our experts have broken down the top tight ends, running backs, and quarterbacks. This week, they profile the top wide receivers ready to join the NFL. Brown (20:20), Deebo Samuel (22:45), Kelvin Harmon (27:05), Hakeem Butler (33:35), Miles Boykin (39:25) and the next step in human evolution himself, D.K. Metcalf (11:15).  Incoming rookie RBs, and is that a Gronk replacement? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:55:25

The 2019 NFL Draft is right around the corner. Last week, Liz Loza and Matt Harmon broke down the biggest names at quarterback and tight end, and this week it’s time to look into fantasy football’s glamour position: Running Backs. In this week’s fantasy football podcast however, Matt is joined by Eric Edholm, who returns to Yahoo as our NFL Draft Analyst! Before they get to the draft talk though, the New England Patriots and New York Giants made some noteworthy moves. In the wake of Rob Gronkowski’s retirement, the Pats signed tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins (3:10), and of course he will deliver the same fantasy value as Gronk has always done (insert sarcasm here). The Giants, on the other hand, turned inward, signing wide receiver Sterling Shepard to an extension (7:10). Can he eat sans Odell Beckham, Jr., or will he be hindered by Eli Manning? The incoming running back class is led by Alabama’s Josh Jacobs, but Matt and Eric also discuss what promise (if any) the likes of Miles Sanders, Justice Hill, and Bryce Love will bring to both fantasy and reality (16:20).  Profiling top rookie QBs and TEs in the NFL Draft | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:52:40

We’re in April, and you know what that means. It’s time to talk the 2019 NFL Draft, and Liz Loza and Matt Harmon are more than ready in this week’s fantasy football podcast. Before they get into the nitty-gritty of it all, they circle back to last week, to discuss the Jordan Howard trade from the Bears to the Eagles (which Liz and Matt pretty much predicted, btw) (3:20). They also discussed the prospects of the Rams backfield potentially changing last week, and lo and behold, C.J. Anderson signed with the Lions (7:20). Will he be a factor in Detroit — and potentially a thorn in Kerryon Johnson’s fantasy owners’ sides? [It’s still not too late to join or create a 2019 Yahoo Fantasy Baseball league] Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, let’s focus on the draft. Liz and Matt breakdown the top tight ends and quarterbacks set to join the NFL. The TE class is led by T.J. Hockenson and Noah Fant (33:55), while the first QBs expected to be drafted are Kyler Murray and Dwayne Haskins (in no particular order) (11:00). Who will end up in the best situation — and who will provide the most fantasy impact?  What's going to happen with Jared Goff and Todd Gurley? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:49:44

Now, we all know about the cringeworthy showing by the Los Angeles Rams in the Super Bowl. Quarterback Jared Goff could pretty much do nothing against the New England Patriots. Now, it seems like the Rams don’t really know when they’ll extend Goff. On this week’s fantasy football podcast, Liz Loza and Matt Harmon examine the question of whether the Rams even want to extend their young QB (0:45) [Busted bracket? No problem. Make more tourney picks for free to win cash] Staying with the Rams, Liz and Matt dive into the fickle world of mock drafts, where some actually have the Rams selecting Alabama’s Josh Jacobs at the end of the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft (8:00). Uh, Todd Gurley, anyone? We’re all familiar with the soap opera that occurred late in the season in regards to his injury. Could the Rams try to solidify the position with a draft pick? With all this talk about Goff and Gurley, are the Rams set to undergo a makeover sooner than we expect? [It’s still not too late to join or create a 2019 Yahoo Fantasy Baseball league] Liz and Matt stay on the west coast, where the 49ers have a ton of backfield options, but who do we trust in fantasy (16:30)? Will it be Jerick McKinnon, returned from injury? Or how about Matt Breida and Raheem Mostert? Or maybe Tevin Coleman will be the one to lead this group? Elsewhere in the NFL, Jordan Howard was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles, but Matt & Liz didn't know that at the time the episode was recorded. So instead, listen to their incredibly prescient takes on the former Chicago running back (20:00). Later, they hop on board the Chris Godwin hype train after Adam Humphries signed with the Titans (30:40). Speaking of hype, the Saints signed the resurgent Jared Cook which opens up a larger conversation Cook's value in the frustratingly shallow tight end market (25:55). A listener calls in asking if the Cleveland Browns have so much talent fantasy owners should be worried (36:00).  Taking a ride on the Tannehill-Fitzpatrick-Bortles-Foles QB carousel | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:41:08

As the last puzzle pieces of free agency come into place, Matt Harmon and Liz Loza start off the show this week by addressing a very serious voicemail from a distraught Giants fan driven to the brink of despair by GM Dave Gettleman (3:00). Anyway, back to our regularly scheduled programming! Matt and Liz are joined by Alex Gelhar, formerly of NFL Fantasy, to provide fantasy (and legal) insight through the show. And speaking of puzzles, a few puzzling moves trickled across the league as three, shall we say, less than good quarterbacks took a carousel ride to new locker rooms. Matt and Liz kick off the quarterback discussion by analyzing the trade of Ryan Tannehill to the Tennessee Titans to presumably back up Marcus Mariota (9:00), then look at the Miami side of the equation where Ryan Fitzpatrick was signed by the presumably tanking Dolphins (14:20). Also in the news, Rams fans were treated to news of the signing of their new backup QB, the immortal Blake Bortles (19:30), while the very mortal Tyler Eifert re-signed with the Cincinnati Bengals (21:30). Moving to two former Packers, Randall Cobb signed a one year deal with the Dallas Cowboys (24:20) and any dreams of Jordy Nelson pairing with Antonio Brown were shut down as he was released by the Oakland Raiders. The crew discusses their favorite potential landing spots for Nelson and wonder if he could return to the green and gold (27:10). Lastly, Matt, Liz and Alex discuss Chris Conley signing with the Jacksonville Jaguars and who among that receiver corps seems more likely to establish a good rapport with newly signed QB Nick Foles (30:20).  Breaking down Brown, Beckham, Bell and all those crazy free agency moves | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:49:43

In last week's podcast episode, we pondered the idea of whether the Raiders could make a splash and add either Le'Veon Bell or Antonio Brown. Well, they got one of 'em! Yahoo Sports’ Liz Loza and Matt Harmon kick off this week’s podcast with the major moves at the start of 2019 NFL Free Agency, without a doubt headlined by the trades of elite wide receivers Odell Beckham, Jr. (1:30) and Antonio Brown (14:30). OBJ! TRADED! TO THE BROWNS! Still can't believe it. But those weren't the only moves made. The Buffalo Bills made a number of moves to help out Josh Allen (35:00), not to mention Le'Veon Bell being "back in the green." (22:13) Oh, and the Lions seem to be trying to build the Patriots of the Midwest ... keyword "trying." (33:25) And there's so much more Liz and Matt try to make sense of this week (37:05). We also have another segment of Liz and Matt’s Advice Line (44:40), where they answer your voicemails about anything: fantasy football, food, dogs, kids, relationships, etc. Hear your question on a future episode by calling 888-85-YAHOO.  Combine impressions, free agency hopes and pressing questions for the AFC + NFC North | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:58:51

The scouting combine is over; now 7 weeks of speculation begins as to where the 2019 class of rookies will land and how the draft will be affected by free agency and trades reshuffling the deck. Will Kyler Murray go first overall? If so, where will Josh Rosen be traded? Could the ever-erratic Raiders make a splash and land Le'Veon Bell and Antonio Brown? Yahoo Sports' Liz Loza and Matt Harmon kick off this week's podcast with a discussion about the major news stories coming out of this year's combine: where Josh Rosen should be traded, this years' crazy class of WRs and even more impressive crop of defensive players (3:40). Next they discuss a few key free agents who could be wearing new unis by the end of next week: Adam Humphries, DeSean Jackson, Golden Tate and Le'Veon Bell (15:00). Later, Matt wraps up his series of pressing questions for each team in the league, starting with the Browns, Bengals, Steelers and Ravens in the AFC North (23:45) and closing with the Lions, Packers, Vikings and Bears of the NFC North (38:00). The show closes with a brand new segment: Liz and Matt's Advice Line (49:55). They answer your voicemails about anything: fantasy football, food, dogs, kids, relationships, etc. This week Liz answers a question about the time she was almost cast in the cult classic, "The Room."  Pressing questions in the AFC and NFC West, also Jason Witten? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:56:10

We are joined on this week's podcast by human sports encyclopedia, Scott Pianowski. Scott is here to give us more details about the upcoming Yahoo Fantasy Baseball Podcast, which premieres Monday, March 4! Scott will be joined by Yahoo Sports’ Andy Behrens and Dalton Del Don, plus a rotating cast of experts and friends, for a not-so-serious talk about fantasy, reality, and so much more. Back in the world of football, the team starts off the episode with the puzzling news that former Cowboys TE Jason Witten is putting down the microphone and returning to form as current Cowboys TE Jason Witten (6:50). Later, they dive into Liz’s offseason columns examining the 10 most interesting players to monitor. This week, they tackle the fifth and sixth additions to her list, Tevin Coleman (12:00) and Drew Brees (18:10). Our experts also take a deeper look at Matt’s weekly major fantasy questions column, where he breaks down the biggest issues each team in every division is facing this offseason. This week, we're doubling up! Not only do our experts take a look at the Raiders, Broncos, Chargers, and Chiefs in the AFC West (25:45), but they'll also break down the Cardinals, 49ers, Seahawks, and Rams of the NFC West (42:05). They’ll discuss what the Raiders can do with all those draft picks, can Jimmy G's return turn the 49ers into a contender, can the Chiefs match their defense to their offense, will the Rams recover (and retool) after their devastating Super Bowl loss, and so much more.
