He founded Personal Finance Club, where he helps others learn solid principles in personal finance. Like Jeremy and I discuss today, there’s nothing too exciting about the path of building wealth, unlike what you might hear at cocktail parties or in the news. We talk about Jeremy’s entrepreneurial journey. How he literally bootstrapped and built a company that was profitable and perfectly positioned for sale. How he built his net worth even while being the lowest paid employee at his company. What is Jeremy cautioning people against these days? Did the wealth building strategy change after he became a multimillionaire? His view of retirement, charitable giving, and more. Candid, practical, smart, here’s Jeremy Schneider.  296: Demystifying Real Estate Investing with Atara Twersky | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 54:18

B”H Real estate, as my guest today suggests, is still some sort of boys’ club. Fortunately, we have women like Atara Twersky helping change that. Atara is on a mission to help professional women understand Real Estate as an asset class, and helping them invest, so that they can spend time doing the things they love with those who they love. Atara is the founder and principal owner of Ascendo Capital, LLC where she specializes in finding off market properties in thriving areas around the country. Atara is also a securities litigation attorney, advising public and private institutions throughout the world concerning shareholder rights as they relate to class action and individual direct action claims arising under U.S. federal and state laws. Wife, mother of three, and proud Jewish woman who paved her own path in real estate, Atara is here to teach us about its great potential and how to tap into it. Some of the questions Atara and I discussed to help you understand a little bit better the opportunity to be had in real estate: * What is a limited partnership and what is the role of the Sponsor or General Partner? * How did Atara get started in Real Estate and why? * Why would you want to become a Limited Partner? And tons more in this conversation that will definitely help demystify Real Estate investing for you.  294: Minisode on Marriage & Money & Guilt | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 7:59

B”H Ok, so I recently was in a panel about marriage and money and had a chance to address a question on guilt, which maybe just maybe you’ve faced, so I want to make sure you hear this. The question came from a woman whose husband did very well financially during COVID, but shortly after things went south and he hasn’t seen much success since. She says she’s been trying to be supportive, but she also has this nagging feeling of guilt. She says, I know our Sages teach that the husband blessings come through the wife, and so I can’t shake the feeling that I’m not doing something right. I feel guilty. She says, ‘Maybe his lack of bracha and hatzlacha is somehow tied to me.’ There’s so much more that I could add, aside from sending this woman a hug, but here’s what I said at the time.  291: The life, the genius and legacy of the greatest banker of the second half of the twentieth century, Mr. Edmond Safra, with Financial Journalist, Daniel Gross | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 38:00

B”H Edmund Safra was considered by many the greatest banker of the second half of the twentieth century. Despite his public achievements building a global financial empire, Safra remained a very private man and to many, a mystery. Why? You’ll soon hear from my guest today, Daniel Gross, who masterfully reconstructed Safra’s life in a book that highlights Mr. Safra’s timeless banking principles, his commitment to Jewish values, like charity, education, honesty, truth and more. Daniel Gross is one of the most widely-read authors on finance, economics and business history. Over the last three decades he’s reported from more than thirty countries covering major news stories in the financial world. Gross worked as a reporter at The New Republic, and Bloomberg News, wrote the “Economic View” column in The New York Times, and served as Slate’s “Moneybox” columnist. At Newsweek, where he was a columnist and correspondent, he authored seven cover stories. He’s a frequent guest on television and radio. Daniel Gross is also the bestselling author of eight books, including Forbes Greatest Business Stories of All Time; Dumb Money: How America’s Greatest Financial Minds Bankrupted the Nation; and Better, Stronger, Faster: The Myth of American Decline and the Rise of a New Economy. I confess I couldn’t put Dan’s latest book down – A Banker’s Journey: How Edmond J. Safra Built a Global Financial Empire. It is phenomenal. Today, I have the pleasure to speak with Daniel about this slight departure from his traditional work, the personal impetus to write this book, and of course the life, the genius, and the legacy of Mr. Edmond Safra.  289: Lessons in Entrepreneurship with CEO, Chany Rosen | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 38:05

B”H My guest today grew up with the feeling that nothing is too big for her.  Today Chany is the CEO of Cavalry Associates, a design and expediting firm with in-house Architects, Engineers, and expeditors that specialize in obtaining all approvals and permits for NYC construction projects which has very rapidly become an industry leader. She thought she was going to open a property management company, but G-d had other plans and she followed along. Maybe that’s also the secret to success: Nothing is too big when you bring G-d with you, right? Listen to Chany on this. Chany grew up in the Chassidic neighborhood of Boro Park Brooklyn and after a few years working in property management decided to go solo with her brother and open shop. Within a  short 6 years, she’s expanded her business services and grown a team of 25 people. Pay attention to how she embarked on entrepreneurship ,and how she deals with hiring despite being a perfectionist, control freak perhaps at times. Chany’s unconventional advice for those of us having difficulty delegating personal finance responsibilities to our husbands. Chany speaks from experience! This and more with the lovely Chany Rosen.
