War is government at its very worst, not only in terms of destruction, but in the powers that it arbitrarily assumes as it capitalizes on widespread fear. Military conscription presumes that the government owns your body and may direct it as it pleases. Both men and women should be vehemently against the idea of a military draft. The media is gloating today over the "failed" Trump/Kim summit. Was the summit really a failure? If so, who is at fault? The media and pundits as usual get it wrong. While all eyes are on the Trump/Kim talks in Hanoi, the US Administration is continuing peace talks with Afghanistan's Taliban in Qatar. Will the US withdraw all troops from Afghanistan in exchange for Taliban promises to keep fighting ISIS and al-Qaeda?

The Trump/Kim summit begins tomorrow, their second round of meetings. Expectations are high - unrealistic. The neocons and the liberal "resistance" will slam any give-and-take as Trump capitulation. If the war is declared over or significant progress is made, would Trump not be more deserving of the Nobel Peace Prize than Barack "Bombs Away" Obama?

Using "national emergencies" to rule by diktat is an old and unfortunate tradition among U.S. presidents. It is also unconstitutional.

The weekend stand-off between the US aid trucks on the Colombian side of the border and the Venezuelan government did not go quite as planned by the US. The aid did not get through, the military did not defect, and US-selected "president" Guaido was nowhere to be seen. But the aid trucks did catch fire in Colombia and Washington is blaming Maduro. Do they have any evidence? Or is this a false flag?

In a free society, every individual has a right to their life, liberty and property. No one may initiate force (i.e., invade) the life, liberty or property of anyone else. This is the ideal that must perpetually be in our sights, despite the loud voices who relentlessly push for the opposite.

Yesterday's Supreme Court ruling on civil asset forfeiture - that states are bound by the Eighth Amendment - may be a step in the right direction, but it's only a baby step. Police are still free to steal from individuals not even accused of a crime, let alone convicted of a crime. They are just now told to not steal too much.

In an astonishing Washington Times article this week, unnamed Trump Administration officials (who may or may not be called "John Bolton") are claiming that Iran, which has been battling al-Qaeda in Syria for nearly four years, is actually secretly allied with al-Qaeda and therefore Iran can be attacked with no further Congressional authorization. Are we seeing the old "babies thrown from incubators" lies resurrected to gin up a war with Iran?

The recent Warsaw and Munich summits have proven disastrous to Trump's foreign policy as elucidated by his neocon top advisors. They were supposed to line up for war on Iran and further isolation of Russia and China, yet none of the war bugles sounded. Have the Europeans had enough of "US global dominance"? The Yemen vote in the House was a fitting "goodbye" to Ron Paul's friend Walter Jones.

Sen. Rubio (R-FL) travelled down to the Colombia/Venezuela border over the weekend to threaten a US invasion of Venezuela if a US "aid" convoy is not allowed to cross the bridge. Rubio's sudden concern for the humanitarian situation in Venezuela smacks of hypocrisy, as he supported all US sanctions that have made life for Venezuelans miserable. This is "regime change" masking as humanitarian concern. Will the neocons succeed?

Authoritarians always rely on "intellectual" justification when selling their schemes to the public. This is why you constantly hear the term "experts say" before your liberty and property are taken from you.
