Our question today comes from Jacob in Phoenix. He is asking what are the different types of insurance coverages out there for UAVs/drones? This is a very important question as you need to be sure you're insured if you're getting paid to fly (especially). There are various "types" of insurance, so we go into all the details about this on this episode. Thanks for your question, Jacob! Our question today comes from our good friend Kyle in Minnesota. He is asking about the landing gear for his S900. He'd like to know if he should be setting it to "intelligent" or regular "on/off"? He's been getting conflicting feedback on it and isn't sure which direction to go. So hopefully we can settle this once and for all for you Kyle, and thanks again for your question! Today we are going to address a question that we were recently asked in one of our webinars. We just did an hour long webinar on the FAA and 333 exemptions. If you're a Drone U member you can find that replay on the site, by the way. Many people are concerned about this, so it's a very legitimate question. We're going to go through several things related to it on the show today so you will come out on the other end more clear (we hope) as to the realities surrounding this topic. We know you have questions, and boy do we have answers. So stop wondering and start asking over at http://AskDroneU.com. It's stupid simple to do, so go check it out now.
Our question today is such a common question for us that we're going to go ahead and answer it (finally) on our show. We do a lot of filming for many different applications, and all we ever really use is a Phantom and GoPro. As a result, people are always asking us how we get such high quality footage and difficult shots without using the "bigger" rigs? We do have/use the larger drones. But we get the most out of our Phantom. Well, let's get into all the details about that because we will show you how you can do just about everything with the smaller, cheaper, easier to fly rigs and still get that amazing footage. By the way, the short answer...pilot skill ALWAYS trumps equipment. ALWAYS. did you know you can easily get your drone related questions answered in our show? "Flying season" is just around the corner as climates all around start to warm up. Stay tuned as we go through all kinds of things that we see coming down the proverbial pipe. Did you know you can easily get your drone related questions answered in our show? Our question today comes from Kyle in Minnesota, who is also one of our Top 100 members. He is having some issues with the GPS on his S900. When he calibrates he is showing 12 satellites strong. But as soon as he takes off the number of satellites starts jumping all over the place. Will putting copper tape on the bottom side of my GPS resolve this issue? This is a great, detailed and specific question. We have several things for you to consider, Kyle, and if you're having similar issues let us know if they help you out. Thanks for your question, Kyle! Speaking of that, did you know you can easily get your drone related questions answered in our show? Just go to http://AskDroneU.com and submit your question. Today, in celebration of our "silver anniversary" (kind of), we are breaking a bit from the normal question format and instead addressing a recent article from Fortune. The article is entitled "FAA Issues Blanket Approval For Commercial Drone Use Below 200 Feet." So what's the catch? Is this really an accurate title and "blanket" statement? What are the realities surrounding a 333 exemption from the FAA? We go through the realities of what the FAA did, and how it affects (or not) so many commercial operators. Today we break slightly from the norm in that we're talking about a particular question. Instead, we very recently had the opportunity to interview Brendan Schulman, who is widely considered one of the, if not the, top UAV Attorney in American. We discussed in detail the FAA proposed regulations, and were a bit disheartened to learn about quite a bit of "hidden" issues that could very negatively affect the industry as a whole. If you love to fly your UAV, especially if you get paid to fly, then you need to listen to this and act. We'll also have the full interview on our site soon for our members to go through.
