Journalist and Olympic expert Alan Abrahamson joined AWN editor Jason Bryant to get another insight into the IOC recommendation about the removal of wrestling from the 2020 Olympic Games. The founder and columnist for 3wiresports.com, Abrahamson pulls few punches when it comes to where the problem was and why he wasn't surprised by the move from the IOC. Abrahamson provides a unique inside from outside of the wrestling bubble and helps us understand what the deal was. The interview provided some blunt questions.

He did not surrender a point in six matches. Davis has the most World and Olympic medals of any native born Iowan. He won a silver medal at the 1984 Olympics and was a member of the 1988 Olympic team.

In a special On The Mat Web Edition, AWN editor Jason Bryant talks with Leigh Vierling, the National Women's Coach for the Wrestling Canada. Vierling discusses what went on in Canada, what their Federation has done and what the future of wrestling is North of the Border. Vierling also tries to understand where to place the blame.

He was named broadcaster of the year by the National Wrestling Media Association in 2006.

A native of Humboldt, Iowa, Dresser was an NCAA champion for the University of Iowa in 1986.

On The Mat visits with Upper Iowa head coach Heath Grimm and Cedar Rapids coach Will Kelly.

This week, On The Mat visits with the founder of the Midlands, Ken Kraft and Wartburg co-head coach Eric Keller. The 50th Ken Kraft Midlands Championships will get underway on December 29 at Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill. Kraft gives some perspective on the tournament and the history behind it. Keller will assume the duties of head coach at Wartburg starting next season, taking over for retiring head coach Jim Miller.

This week, On The Mat featured two Iowa high school coaches, Tom Hogan and Willie Gadson. Ben Hupke stands in for Kyle Klingman as host this week.

Tim Jackson and Jason Bryant were guests on the Dec. 12 "On The Mat" program on 1650 The Fan. Jackson is working on a documentary called "Wrestling with Iowa," while Bryant is the new editor for Amateur Wrestling News.

In addition to the weekly On The Mat program on KCNZ The Fan 1650 AM, host Kyle Klingman will join AWN's Jason Bryant for a weekly discussion of college wrestling. This week, the two discuss conference realignment and its impact on wrestling, the early season and wrestlers who have caught their eyes in the early going.
