In light of the horrific tragedies that we’ve seen recently, this message is timely and NEEDED. What’s the root cause of these issues? Is it really all about racial tension, social injustice, or is there something deeper going on?
Jesus was the fulfilling sacrifice to appease God’s wrath for all of our sin, and it's His blood that washes us completely clean. We can now run in such a way as to win the prize of Heaven, looking forward to our King welcoming us home at the finish line!
Once we choose to follow Christ, it's essential to get plugged in to a Bible believing church to learn, grow, and get involved through service. We all have unique gifts that God can use to build His kingdom!
If all we do is listen to sermons or read our Bibles, but we never respond in action and obedience, we won't have any impact. The Bible makes sure that the believer clearly understands that we're not just to be HEARERS of the Word, but to be DOERS of the Word!
When Jesus died on the cross, He fully and completely purchased our salvation, and now freely offers it to each one of us! Yes, we all still mess up after we accept His free gift, but because of His grace, we can get back up and continue to follow Him.
When we accept God’s forgiveness for all our sins, we must then move forward into the abundant life that He 's called us to. Others will notice the change in our lives when we let go of the past, and hold onto the hope of the future that He's promised us!
There are so many churches that call themselves "seeker friendly", concentrating on getting people saved (which is vital!), but they stop there. The next equally important step for churches and Christians is to disciple those believers, helping them to grow, preparing them to then go make disciples!
The fear of death is a common emotion, even with some believers... it stems from the simple fact of believing in something that's outside of our 5 senses. But if we can stand on our faith, that after this life comes eternity with Christ, then His perfect love will cast out our fear of the unknown!
We can all feel let down at certain times in our lives by others, by God, or even by ourselves. No matter what our circumstances may be, God promises to comfort us, and to provide all we need to do the work that He's called us to do until we go home to Him!
The Old Testament Law, all the rules that we could follow, comes with a curse of death because if we break one we break them all, and it's impossible to follow them all. However, Christ’s death changed EVERYTHING, and it's by faith in Him that we can now be saved from the fate of our deserving death!
All of humanity is born separated from God because of our sinful nature, but Jesus' work on the cross took all of our sin upon Himself. Tragedy still happens in this fallen world because of sin, but Jesus allows us to have the ultimate victory over sin, and that's eternal life in Him!
God's our Shepherd, and He's put His shepherds (pastors) in positions of leading the church flocks. If we're not connected in a church where people know who we are, we're more likely to wander away from God. Find a Bible-believing church with a Godly pastor, get connected and help herd everyone to stay together.
"In everything, give thanks!" That's the will of God for each believer, no matter the circumstances. In fact, "cheering God" in the midst of the tough times proves the authenticity of our faith and our trust in Him.
God not only encourages us, but gives us the instructions, on how to live wisely, not foolishly. One important way to live a wise life is to be teachable, receiving instruction from the Bible and from other Godly, wise people.
Whether we agree with the law or not, or whether we like who's in office or not, God has allowed those specific authorities over us, and we must obey them (as it's one way that we obey God). However, in the same way that we obey God when we obey the law, we also disobey Him when we break the law.
