South African Singer Nothende has been said to have her ‘soul’ house in order and its no wonder because in just a matter of years, she has worked with many SA artists, recorded NO.1 hit singles and even scored herself nominations for SAMA & Metro FM awards. She recorded a song titled OOH, for the Gazlam Soundtrack (2), produced by one of South Africa’s veteran producer’s, Kaybee. The song gained Nothende her first SAMA nomination (Best Team Composition) in 2004. Nothende was part of a hip hop group, The Playoffs. They became the ambassadors of an HIV/AIDS Campaign, LIV-LIVE, funded by the US Embassy. Nothende was a backup vocalist for one of SA’s popular musicians, Lira. Alexes Johnson is an experienced painter working and living in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Born in New York to a mother battling a heroin addiction, he grew up fast on the artsy but tough streets of the East Village.  Shortly before his ninth birthday, his mother would lose her battle to addiction leaving Alexes in the care of the State. Adopted by a family living in Philadelphia, his passion for music and love of the Arts would be cultivated in The City of Brotherly Love. As part of the city’s underground artistic community, Alexes honed his poetry writing skills and was was in demand to share his extensive knowledge of music as a DJ. For years, Alexes battled depression and multitudes of disfunction from memories of an abusive childhood he wanted to forget. Finally coming to terms with his life while acknowledging and facing his past, Alexes was free to  come out of the darkness and into light. Alexes has just completed his first novel, “Junkie Witness”, a poetic memoir of his chaotic early childhood. He continues to reside in Philadelphia where he owns and operates Renaissance Painting.

Johnathan Bender played in the NBA for eight years. He was in the top-5 of the 1999 draft pick. he was drafted by the Pacers into a $7 million dollar contract. Pulling down 10 rebounds and scoring 31 points, Jonathan broke Michael Jordan’s scoring record set in 1981 and continues to reign as the game’s all-time leading scorer.  Unfortunately, Johnathan had to leave the league after seven years of dealing with debilitating knee pain. He took four years retirement and worked on his health. While using his own product prototype—now coined the “JB Intensive Trainer”—Bender became fit enough to re-enter the NBA, where he played for another  year with the New York Knicks.  Amazingly, when the team doctors did strengthening tests on Bender, they discovered he had the strongest lower extremities on the team!   Also wanting to give back to the community, Bender also established a non-profit organization, The Jonathan Bender Foundation, which strives to empower children in his community by providing them with the tools to obtain life skills that address their educational, health and social needs.  http://thejonathanbenderfoundation.org/

Ahmed Soultan is a Moroccan singer, considered as one of the leaders of the "Nayda".(new urban Moroccan scene). Ahmed considers his singing style as Afrobian (Afro-Arabian).  He sings in four languages ( Amazigh, Arabic, English and French). Ahmed  sang with Talib Kweli, Angelique Kidjo and Zap Mama on the “People Power” song. He sung with Ne-Yo on the song Amazing You. Ahmed opened the Tiken Jah Fakoli concert in Dakar. He sung on the original soundtrack of Rhimou, a popular sitcom broadcast in Morocco. Ahmed’s first album came out in 2005 called TOLERANCE. The hit single from  the album “Ya Salam” is sung in Arabic and English. “Ya Salam” accompanied the opening of MTV Arabia. Second album CODE came out in 2009. The single “Achkide” from the album is sung in Berber and French. In 2011, his song “Jokko” was nominated as best North African song and best African reggae song of the year. Kae Sun or Kwaku Darko-Mensah Jr. is a Ghanaian-Canadian singer-songwriter. Kae Sun's music has hints of soul, folk and hip-hop creating a sound that is sometimes described as urban folk. Kae Sun's debut album Lion On A Leash came out in 2009.The mostly self produced Lion on a Leash is a collection of heartfelt, well written songs that successfully combine elements of hip-hop, roots reggae and soul. He also adds elements of afro-funk, influenced by his Ghanaian upbringing.Kae Sun turned to his native Ghana for inspiration for his EP Outside the Barcode which came out in 2011. Patricia E. Stein is a veterinary nurse, artist, and taekwondo junkie. She is Lakota. Patricia holds a black belt in Hapkido and she has competed in Taekwondo competitions for nine years. Patricia has held numerous women’s self defense courses throughout the East Coast of the United States and Cairo, Egypt. She worked with the Tahrir Body Guard (a group dedicated to ending sexual harassment in Egypt).  The Arming Sisters project hopes to hold 2 day compact women’s self defense course talking on awareness and mentality as well the physical application of 10 moves that could save a woman’s life. The courses will be held at the top 20 most populated reservations and 10 stops in Canada spanning the late Summer months / early Fall.
