I live in western North Carolina. I serve as a deacon at my home church in a small town of less than 6,000 people. I'm also a short terms missionary to Argentina each year for about two weeks. I started listening to your podcast at about the 8th or 9th one and have been hooked ever since. As a Christian, I am not a violent person, but will not think twice about defending my family in any way necessary. I really appreciate how you handle the topics which are brought up on your broadcast. They are relevant to us today, but also, how we should handle anything we may encounter, is rooted historically in God's Word. It is cool how you guys bring that aspect to the table. Thanks. The Aikido and Karate, that I was trained in years ago, may not be an option at some point and I may need to defend me and/or my family with a gun. I will never desire for that to happen, but I want to be ready if that time should come. I didn't grow up around guns but I did serve in the Army National Guard for eight years. I really loved using the M-16 (Only on non-living targets!) and I qualified in the top of my company as an Expert. I thought that I would get an AR-15 as a civilian, but never have... yet. I did own a Glock 17 back in the 90's but I sold it to get money for a mission trip and just never replaced it. I have been re-educating myself on firearms over the last few years, however, with the help of guys like you. Again, thanks. My Pastor is a gun owner and we just had a "Conceal and Carry" class at our church. It was a huge success. We had around 120 people to attend. Unfortunately I wasn't one of them. I had a family event going on at the same time. When the next one is scheduled, I plan on attending. Over the last year, I purchased a used Maverick 88 by Mossberg, at a local gun store. It came with an 18" barrel and is mainly for home defense, but later I got a 28" for it and hope to maybe do some hunting with it as well. My most recent purchase is a Springfield Armory XDs 45 ACP. I really love that little guy! It is very easy and comfortable to shoot. The first two rounds I shot through it, I drilled a postcard from 50 feet.

Updates;I have been given a Colt 1911 but it is unregistered an in Virginia at the in-laws. So I am trying to find out how to get it delivered here to Ontario, Canada. It looks like the easiest way will be having a US gun shop ship it to a Canadian gun shop near by. Also I have been offered a Smith & Wesson Model 1000 12 ga semi ( got my first turkey last week borrowing it ) at a reasonable price. Only problem is it has a fixed full choke and even with the magazine tubes limiter removed it max's out at 3 & 1. But it is a nice starter! Keep up the great show and the honest advice! I live in Texas, and while I do not have my CHL at this time, I have taken the course requirements and just have to file with the state. My pastor, as well as my father, a board member, and several women all carry their guns to church. My husband and I will soon become a part of this group once our licenses get in. I don't see anything wrong with it. As one of you mentioned, gun free zones are the best places for criminals to go to do the most harm. Or as my pastor says, it makes us sitting ducks. Our church has had an instance or two where thankfully someone had a gun, although it did not have to be used. My pastor is now a CHL instructor as a side job, and several church members have taken his class. I think it's safe to say that our church does not oppose gun carry at all and I see more of our church members and members of other churches in our area carrying in the future. By the way, from my understanding, Texas law allows church carry unless it is posted otherwise. Response to your question about military chaplain, they are classified as noncombatants under the geneva Convention so they cannot touch a firearm. However I and many others are given the job as chaplain assistants. We are to help the chaplain stay alive in the war zones. I did these job for 4.5 years and got burned out.
