Trek Mate: Ten Forward

Join Sina and Paul as they welcome Robert “the King” Reyes at the bar for a nice chat about different aspects of Trek, sportsball (!) and other random stuff. @RobertReyes, @queenkatblue, @firbob1, @tenforward1701  

  This may be a courtroom-themed episode, but there’s no reason to pass the bar (insert pinecone here… no, wait!). Come have a drink with Sina, Dan, and returning guest Les “Trekkie Jedi” Walker as we examine three episodes where our heroes must take the stand. We don’t make our opening remarks immediately, however.  There’s some meandering and then Dan talks up his day at the Mission New York Star Trek convention. Oh, and Sina unloads after a rough week at work and displays much contempt of court.  Foul language abounds. Any objections will be overruled, but by all means, send them along to @firbob1

I will not read it on the turbolift.  I will not read it on while the ship’s adrift.  I will not read it in the holodeck.  I do not like Green Lantern and Trek. Will you read Green Lantern and Trek? So I finally finished my homework and edited the recording for Robert Reyes’ Day 5 recording.  A couple of notes: 1.  Many, many apologies to the people whose interviews had to be cut out of the final edit.  There were severe technical difficulties and some of the recording just was not usable.  If you were one of those who did not make it into the show, please contact me (@queenkatblue) so we can have you on the show to talk Trek. 2.  In order for some of the interviews toward the end to make sense, I had to leave some glitches and static in the recording.  Apologies, and hope these issues don’t distract from the fantastic interviews. 3.  Speaking of fantastic interviews, Robert was able to speak with one or two celebrities, including a Trek actor. Let’s start off your Monday with a Bar Adventure with none other than your host, Carnivore J, aka Chris Johnson (which by the way Chris, I don’t see ANYTHING wrong with Sully J, just saying, doesn’t matter if you are a grown ass man, Monsters Inc. is still awesome) and where was I? Oh yes!   Sina, Not-So-Evil Dan, and Carnivore Chris Johnson are at it again, getting all literary about the newest Deep Space Nine eBook, “The Rules of Accusation” by Paula Block and Terry Erdmann.  We won’t spoil too much here, but know this: Quark’s shenanigans bring Odo out of retirement to do P.I. work on the station!  Go read it, or at least let us tell you all about it.

Ten Forward Episode 203 – Babylon 5 Talk No Sina again. QueenKatBlue has QueenKatGone , so that means no Trek Talk today. Instead we talk about a TV series that is widely regarded (even by Trek fans) to be better than Star Trek! Ye we are talking Babylon 5 written (almost entirely) by J Michael Straczynski, who described it as a 5 year novel, it is unique in Sci Fi history to tell a story from start to finish throughout its 5 season run. Great characters performed by great actors within a space station that could really work in space, with space ships that conformed to Newtonian Physics all kept it believable. Joining Firbob on this Trek through the Babylon Universe is his podcasting buddy from Sci Fi Waffle, Shawn Vanderloo and Podcasting legend and all round funny guy (on Twitter at least) Colin Higgins from the Trek News and Views podcast amongst others. Apologies for the sound quality, as this podcast was plagued by technical difficulties which meant a major editing session was needed to make sense of it. I hope this does not stop you from enjoying what was an enjoyable episode to record despite the technical hitches. This is considered to be the worst season of any Star Trek so it is no easy task… for Sina. Firbob is more of a TOS fan so it should be easy for him right?
