On March 28, 2012, we hosted a product launch event for Casper Suite 8.5. Entitled "Everything Apple, Managed" we focused on education - specifically the amazing, new possibilities that eBooks make possible. JAMF Software has a long history of helping educational organizations succeed with Apple technologies and we're well-known for our dedicated goal of supporting the Apple platform.

This short video captures a demonstration of the eBook distribution capabilities in the Casper Suite 8.5, using Self Service to distribute iBooks from the iBookstore and eBooks created in-house. The Casper Suite 8.5 also allows administrators to distribute eBooks and manage redemption of Volume Purchase Program (VPP) codes.

We will explore techniques to deploy PC software in a virtualized environment on Macs using Parallels Desktop for Mac. We will describe how to automate deployment of the Parallels Desktop for Mac product using the Casper Suite, register the Parallels Desktop for Mac virtual machine on client machines, and report on software usage.

We will take a look at three workflows that could be applied to many challenges organizations encounter in this emerging space. As significant portions of these workflows are not possible with mobile device management solutions, these example cases explore a more rounded approach to automating iOS management.

One of the more challenging aspects of using anti-virus software in enterprise environments is the process of keeping virus definitions up to date. Using an automated process to track the availability of new virus definition updates and notify administrators automatically removes the uncertainty in this process. The Casper Suite allows IT administrators to quickly deliver and report on the status of their Power Save Mac and Deep Freeze Mac deployments, automating energy saving policies and ensuring that public computers are always returned to their approved state. Through a combination of automation, alerting and reporting, IT administrators are able to efficiently manage their environments and return immediate return on their investments through cost savings.
