In this video, our developers talk about the reasons they think users will most enjoy working with the new Casper Suite.

As we reached the end of our "Transforming the Classroom" series, we asked administrators who are using the Casper Suite on a daily basis for their Mac and iOS management needs to share their experiences. We were joined by four administrators who collectively manage thousands of devices in their respective organizations. The conversation was lively, and we learned a lot from their experiences.

Apple devices open the door to an endless amount of educational content that's out there on the web. Conversely, this accessibility is a gateway to non-educational content best kept out of student's hands while in the classroom. The challenge teachers face is they don't have time to continuously monitor what each student is doing on their device, and at the same time must steer them away from the distractions on the wide open internet. These issues can sometimes be remedied by installing configuration profiles, but it's no secret that even if an IT administrator installs profiles on mobile devices, students know how to remove them. So, how can we keep kids on track in class and keep them safe without hindering the full user experience Apple devices offer?

When iPad arrived in the classroom it brought a fun, engaging, interactive learning experience to teachers and students. But as the use of iPad in education continues to grow, teachers sometimes find it hard to keep students focused on learning and often must resort to hovering over students to make sure they’re not surfing the web or playing games. With Casper Focus, teachers can now control exactly what each student sees on their device while in the classroom.

With Casper Focus, teachers can perform classroom management tasks while preserving the magic of iPad. They can do this all from their own iPad and all by themselves—without assistance from the IT department. With just a couple taps, teachers can command the attention of their classroom by controlling exactly what each student sees on their device. And, even better, students have free reign over their iPad when they're off the school's network.

Apple recently introduced a stream of enterprise-ready tools, including FileVault 2, Gatekeeper and Configurator. These native tools are simple, intuitive ways to accomplish tasks traditionally managed by IT departments, such as full disk encryption and security. When used in combination with Apple's app and book stores, end users are empowered with Apple enterprise technologies built directly into the OS X and iOS operating systems. Many of these native technologies can be leveraged as alternatives to expensive enterprise solutions. However, the challenge for IT administrators in large organizations is often how to deploy and configure these native solutions consistently on a broad scale. We will dive into the ways these native tools can be automatically deployed and their functionality extended across the enterprise using enterprise management tools such as the Casper Suite.

With the latest version of iBooks, Apple released an exciting interactive file format that allows authors to create digital books and easily embed rich, interactive digital content such as video and photo galleries. We will talk about a few simple ways educators can use the free iBooks Author tool to create and use iBooks in the classroom, and unique ways that organizations are using iBooks to release self-published content.

Education is in the midst of an explosion of free educational content that has opened up new curriculum options for educators. No longer limited to static textbooks and outdated lesson plans, many educators are excited to share this incredible world of free, fresh content with students as a way to encourage classroom participation and increase engagement.

It's not everyday you get invited to the Super Bowl, so when we were asked to perform a deployment service for the Hosting Committee you better believe we hopped on a plane and captured as much of it on camera along the way. The Hosting Committee had a couple different needs for the iPads and we were up for whatever challenges they threw our way.

MacIT was fun. Really fun. With Star Wars references abound, cats from the internet (see if you can find them,) and friends as far as the eye could see, our team had a blast. A concurrent sentiment throughout was a shared sense of eagerness to learn—a curiosity that serves our community well. As an IT administrator who has used the Casper Suite from almost the beginning of its existence, Sean has witnessed a chaotic Mac environment transform into one that is managed and under control. In the beginning, his team had little experience with the Apple platform, so he said when they adopted the Casper Suite it was basically the first time their Macs were being supported—ever.
