This session is targeted towards Casper Suite version 9 beginners to learn how to deploy Apple Software Updates using OS X Server or the Netboot/SUS Appliance. We'll walk through the setup of the Netboot/SUS appliance and deploying software updates via policy or Casper Remote.

Marko will discuss some creative but easy solutions for thin imaging and no imaging-based workflows using the Casper Suite.

When you’re in the Microsoft world you tend to think all is grand until Macs start popping up and suddenly you get confused. They started giving employees a choice, and next thing they knew, half of their employees chose Macs over PCs. So the question remains, how do you manage these machines securely? Not only did David’s team find a product that met all expectations, but it also took over all their Mac management tasks. Now just one admin can do what a whole team of people previously managed. In this session they’ll talk about introducing the Casper Suite to your environment, while remaining security conscious.

Join us as we cover all the basics of policy-based automation, share tips and tricks (and pitfalls to avoid), and reveal why every Mac admin should care about this keystone feature of Mac management.

“Hi, someone just stole my laptop. I’m not sure what to do... Help!” What would YOU do next? Initiate a remote wipe? Call the police? Those are both good options, but what if you could still communicate with the stolen machine? Better yet, what if it was still checking in with your management system and you were able to investigate the new owners through an innovative combination of software, hardware, social networking and good, old-fashioned cloak and dagger operations? Learn how one IT administrator resisted the urge to issue a remote wipe and was able to provide the police with enough information to recover the still intact machine from its new “home”.

Hear directly from Product Management about what you need to know before updating, as well as the many benefits of running version 9 of the Casper Suite. This will be an interactive session based around how to use Casper Suite 9 to the fullest in your environment.

The release of OS X Mavericks and iOS 7 will significantly change how you deploy and manage Apple devices. The engineers at Apple have worked hard to address many of historically problematic management issues faced by both education and business customers. This session will provide an overview of key new features, including managed open in, enterprise single sign-on (SSO), and other new management options. Finally this session will explore publicly available information on soon-to-be-released technologies including App Store license management and streamlined MDM enrollment.

Like many educational technology initiatives, implementing advanced Apple technology in the classroom requires involvement of leaders from every area of education to make the program a success. Advocates for education come together in this video to talk about their roles in the technology initiative at Hopkins Public Schools and how it has transformed student learning in their district.
