Swoop’s World Late Night is on from 8pm/PST – 11pm/PST tune in at Swoopsworld.com. Listen to the show Marc Platt Talented guitarist, prolific songwriter, and down-to earth human being. These are just a few terms to describe Marc Platt, a Los Angeles-based, singer-songwriter who is making a difference in the lives of other musicians. Platt’s experience in the music business goes back to the early 80s, first as an artist and then as an employee of Rhino Records, back when the record label was in its infant stages. By the mid 80s, Platt had returned to performing full-time and formed the band, The Real Impossibles. Their 1986 EP, “Play Loud” was produced by Plimsouls’ (“Million Miles Away”) front-man, Peter Case and The Real Impossibles video, “Turn My World” was featured on MTV that same year. “When I was starting out in the 80s, I was a huge fan of the Plimsouls,” Platt said. “I hung out with Peter Case who took me under his wings and introduced me to people such as Elvis Costello, Peter Buck (REM), John Hiatt, Bonnie Raitt, Steve Earle, and T-Bone Burnett. “I really got an education watching these amazing artists work. I was a very lucky guy for getting to hang out with my idols at an impressionable age.” Platt went on to play in a few bands, but his real success has been in songwriting. He wrote songs for Universal’s 1993 A Taste for Killing and 1994 The Raffle in which two of the songs were featured on the soundtrack. His music has also been featured on ESPN. “I got lucky enough to get some songs in movies in the 90s,” said Platt. “They weren’t hit movies, but I found that getting to the producers was much more beneficial than music supervisors. I still make money off cable and DVDs from those projects.” More recently, Platt’s songs have been featured on TV shows such as Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, E-News True Hollywood, and Passions. He continues to write music for a variety of TV shows. After our interview with Marc Platt we’ll be up to all of our usual fun including “Brewskis” Beer Tasting sponsored by DrinksWinesSpirits.com, sports talk, rants and more.  Kim Cameron on Swoop’s World Primetime | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 57:53

On Thursday, September 6, 2012, at 11 am/PST, 2pm/EST, on Swoop’s World Primetime, Swoop and Peter welcome the return of singer/songwriter Kim Cameron of Side Fx. Since we last talked to Kim she has consistently performed and released a new CD. Join us as we catch up with her to find out about her new music and what's been going on in her world. Tune in at Swoopsworld.com. Listen to the show Kim Cameron My passion is telling stories through music. I grew up a few miles from the white sandy beaches of southern California, so in-between boogie board surfing, I marched in a band with my clarinet, performed in school musicals, sang in the choir, was a backup singer for a cover band, and even a DJ at a dance club and radio station. Unfortunately, when it came time to pay back those college loans, and deliver a rent check, I found myself leaving the true love of my life: music, to pursuing a career in the corporate world. After years of long hours (and I mean long), weekends, holidays, late nights; I found few rewards, and saw a lot of glass ceilings. After watching a family member battle cancer and frustrated with what I had compromised, I took a deep look at what drives me, what fulfills my soul and made a giant leap of faith, betting on myself. Scary? For sure! But, today, I have written 4 albums, (Contradictions, Turning Point, The Blond Side, Spin Me Ever After), completed a 21 State tour, found an outstanding band on both coasts, created a publishing company, and am the only indie artist who has charted 5 songs on a single album! I had a dream come true in 2011 when I sang the National Anthem for the Washington Redskins game on the 50 yard line, and now, in 2012, my two of my music videos took off into cyber space giving me over 2 million views. Crazy, right? I began this adventure to create music that will make you cry, smile, dance in the kitchen and think about life a little differently. For me, my music is an image of me and those who have touched me; musical stories that others can find themselves in. There are so many great stories left to write, left to be told.  Jarred Ekstrom of Beachwood BBQ on Swoop’s World Late Night | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2:15:47

On Wednesday August 8, 2012 at 8pm/PST (11pm/EST) we welcome Jarred Ekstrom of Beachwood BBQ. And we just found out Brewmaster/Co-Owner, Julian Shrago will also be headed to Swoop’s World. Needless to say we are ecstatic to spend some time talking to Jarred and Julian about two of our favorite things, beer and bar-b-que, and one of our favorite places, Beachwood! After our interview we’ll be up to all of our usual fun with our Brewskis beer tasting segment, TBones Timeout, followed by our take on all topics, as well as any interesting news of the day. Swoop’s World Late Night is on from 8pm/PST – 11pm/PST tune in at Swoopsworld.com. Listen to the show Beachwood BBQ, the great divider, the true American cuisine, differing from region to region, appreciated by millions, is the gateway to endless dialogues about technique, authenticity and even meaning. Like our fellow debaters, we have an opinion, like it or not. The Beachwood Way is our interpretation, our vision, our take on BBQ tradition. The Beachwood approach is low and slow. All meats are slow smoked and dry rubbed, succulently flavored to allow the true meat flavor to stand on its own - that means no saucy coating. No sauce? Yes, but you do have a variety of tableside sauces to choose from, if you so please. Homemade and from scratch means their food takes a little longer to prepare. All appetizers and entrees are prepared to order. So, it may take a bit longer for your food to arrive at your table, but rest assured, once it does you will appreciate the efforts and lengths Beachwood goes through to serve high quality, uncompromisingly tasty 'que. Microbrews... 22 rotating taps, plus one cask conditioned beer, have been hand selected for your pairing (and drinking) pleasure. They go to great lengths to find the most rare, most unique, and most first-rate beers. Here you won't find Coors, Heineken, or Bud. What? Well, they've devoted their beer line up to those special brews that not only enhance the food they serve, but also represent some of the finest beers you'll find around. The folks at Beachwood like to think they can convert anyone. On any given week, they'll go through 10 kegs, so don't be surprised when you come in and don't see the beer you drank yesterday. They've replaced it; it's gone, dunzo, adios...you'll be lucky to ever have the same beer twice. Grab a pint that pairs well with the 'que or just drop in for a drink on its own...they don't care, but please try one of these beers, you won't be sorry. After our interview with Jarred Ekstrom and Julian Shrago we’ll be up to all of our usual fun including “Brewskis” Beer Tasting sponsored by DrinksWinesSpirits.com, sports talk, rants and more. This week we’ll be tasting Carolina Blonde Cream Ale by Foothills Brewing located in Winston Salem, NC. The Swoop’s World iPhone app is now available in the iTunes store. Download yours for free now!  Jey Ahr on Swoop’s World Late Night | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 29:00

On Wednesday August 1, 2012 at 8pm/PST (11pm/EST) we welcome Jey Ahr to Swoop’s World. Join us as we get to know Long Beach native Ronnie “Jey Ahr” Woods, his music, and all things that keep him moving forward creatively! Listen to the show Jey Ahr Ronnie “Jey Ahr” Woods is an up and coming hip-hop artist Born and Raised in Long Beach, California. The spelling of his stage name is just one thing that makes him different. Pronounced J.R. but spelled Jey Ahr meaning “Just Ron”, although very different it is also very straightforward. This quite simply is the best way to describe him and his music. He fell in love with the hip-hop culture at a very young age with influences like Notorious B.I.G, Tupac Shakur, and Rakim just to name a few. He began writing rhymes with his cousin Derrion “Spadez” Woods. Together with help from older brother Lamaur “Big L Mar” Woods and family friend Charles “Rayon” Jennings they formed, what was then known as AUE (Artist United Entertainment). This grouping of young men furthered his love for music and inspired him more to grow as an artist. In 2006 Jey Ahr learned that he was about to become a father so, he put his aspirations on hold and joined the military to be able to support his family. After a few years of putting his passion on hold Jey Ahr could no longer resist. He began writing and recording with his friend James Bryant. Together they formed the group Fam Bam. Now as a solo artist Jey Ahr is coming at the world full force, ready to give it his all. When asked by spectators, what made you really get into music? A very confident Jey Ahr replies, “I knew I could be better than the people that were out then, and I still feel that way now." Although some may perceive this as cocky when you listen to his music you will see that it is just pure confidence. After our interview with Jey Ahr, we’ll be up to all of our usual fun including “Brewskis” Beer Tasting sponsored by DrinksWinesSpirits.com, sports talk, rants and more.
