Key of G. Clawhammer style. Played on a newly constructed Myrtle wood and Walnut 11" open back
This is 2-finger picking learned via the playing by BHO member RG. He presented lots of research on the song you can read if you go to the TOTW discussion thread. He also recorded Pretty Boy Floyd's many verses.
A clawhammer rendition of Dock Boggs' "Schottische Time". I think that Schottische Time certainly has its origins in the parlor music repertoire rather than strictly oldtime or mountain music. C standard tuning (gCGBD)
Woody's classic anti-hero ballad "Pretty Boy Floyd" gDGBD
One of Towne's best tunes!
Played on refurbished Recording King banjo with calfskin head. G tuning.
From the Walter family's 1930's recording and in the Milliner Koken book. This is a dance tune whose title can be literally sung in the B part.
Played and recorded to add to a thread for sharing hymns, appropriate on Easter Sunday, དྷ. I used 3-finger picking without picks.
Upper Lehigh was played in the first Brandywine Old-time Music Convention in 1974. Carl Baron was there and heard this lively polka and has presented it as the Tune of the Week. learned from the fiddling of Peter Kraus of Reading, PA and Gerry Milnes aDAde

A 3-part dance tune from France is our treat for Tune of the Week. I find it lovely and quaint, learned from the recording by the Rheingans Sisters in England.
