Dr Lisa Ingarfield, PhD, hosts a new monthly podcast that will address thought provoking and challenging discussions exploring all things women and gender equity in sport. TALKING POINT will provide a platform for deeper conversations about diversity and inclusion when it comes to women’s role in sport, and is intended to provide a means for people to engage and maintain that conversation and keep moving this issues forward so we don’t lose sight of them. Topic:  How women experience marginalization in our culture and how sexism continues to play such a formidable role in our society. Guest: Joanna Snawder-Manzo, MA, is an expert in women and gender studies who has worked in this field for over 17 years and has extensive experience of women facing issues on college campuses and beyond. Joanna has done work on wage discrimination, Title IX compliance and also in women’s leadership. She is a Certified Start Smart Salary Workshop Facilitator and Women’s Empowerment Model Self Defense Instructor. Joanna considers herself a social justice warrior and an endurance feminist. Zoe George returns to launch a re-vamped show for fans of women’s sport in New Zealand - it's all about Fair Play which covers the news as well as the issues around women’s sport. Joining her again as guest co-presenter is White Ferns player Sophie Devine. Their guests are Sarah Beaman, the woman behind the study into women’s cricket for NZC and they ask what’s been done as a result of the study and whether women are any closer to being treated equally. That conversation around the State of U.S. Show Jumping was ignited this summer when Katie Prudent spoke out on this podcast. Abby Ehler from The Magenta Project is back with friends who are taking part in this year's Volvo Ocean Race. Olympian Annie Lush, who was also on Team SCA in the previous edition of the race, has joined Abby on Team Brunel, and another Olympian, Italy's Francesca Clapcich, is on Dee Caffari's Turn the Tide on Plastic. They discuss the dynamics of the new mixed crew format, why you would endure freeze dried food for months, necessary medical skills and other training, crew rotation and final preparations in the countdown to the race that begins with the prologue from Lisbon to Alicante on October 8th followed by the race start on October 22. Elizabeth Emery talks to British Cyclocross racer Helen Wyman and bike advocate Liz Cornish. Helen is 9 times National Cyclocross Champion, two-time European Champion, and a World Championship medalist. She is also a superstar in women’s cyclocross advocacy. Many of the positive changes over the past few years — pay equality, race length, tv coverage — is due to her work as part of the UCI Cyclocross commission. Elizabeth caught up with her in Iowa where she was training in the heat between the first two World Cups of the season – Jinglecross World Cup in Iowa City and Trek Waterloo World Cup in Waterloo, Wisconsin. They discussed her training & racing, the upcoming cyclocross season, working with sponsors, and work towards equality in cyclocross. Gabbi Hall from Ski Racing Media hosts our all new skiing podcast ahead of the start of the Audi FIS World Cup season, which features Fresh Tracks -  the latest news and updates of alpine racers including who is  looking good in training, who is rehabbing from injury and who to look out for this season. Gabbi’s first guest on The Mixed Zone is Jacqueline Wiles from Aurora, Oregon, a speed skier known as one of the ‘Speed Unicorn’ from Team USA who races Super G, Downhill and Alpine Combined on the World Cup Tour. Jackie won the US National Title in 2013 & 2014 and made her Olympic debut at the 2014 Sochi Games. She achieved her first World Cup podium place earlier this year finishing third in the downhill at Altenmarkt-Zauchensee in Austria. Piggy French has been a popular figure in British eventing since her Junior and Young Rider days when she was a member of the European team gold medal in 2001. She also claimed the individual silver at the 2009 Europeans riding Some Day Soon and a year later rode Jakata at the World Equestrian Games where the pair finished 14th. The partnership went on to finish 9th at the 2011 European where Piggy also won her first senior team medal taking the bronze. After a break to start a family Piggy is back on the British team competing at this year's European Championships with Quarrycrest Echo and a week later finishing second at the Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials with Vanir Kamira. U.S. show jumper Alexa Pessoa is adjusting to a new routine as the mother of two children and the wife of rider and Chef d’equipe of the Irish team, Rodrigo Pessoa. With six years between their daughters Sophia and Luciana Alexa is finding the balance between being there for her daughters and making time for her riding career. For her the time spent in the stables is dedicated to the horses and training and it’s important not to be distracted by the demands of being a mother. Kate Richardson-Walsh, OBE, has recently retired from international hockey as the most capped player for England with 375 appearances. With Olympic gold and bronze medal from four Olympic Games, Kate has been a part of England's resurgence after failing to qualify for the Athens Games to becoming Olympic Champions in Rio. During the span of her career, during which she captained England and Great Britain for 13 years, she has seen many changes to the team and its leadership. And she has faced her own personal challenges when she and her wife, Helen Richardson-Walsh, also an England hockey player, revealed their relationship. Former Ironman World Champion and World No 1 Siri Lindley has become a highly successful and popular coach with Team Sirius Tri Club the No 1 coaching club in the US.  She is also a sought after motivational speaker and author. Her wife Rebekah Keat is also a record breaking professional triathlete turned coach. The couple recently took their love of animals to a new level when they established Believe Ranch & Rescue - a non profit organization that rescues horses from slaughter and dogs from euthanasia. Their plan is to retrain and re-home the animals where they are most needed as therapy for their new owners. This is a compelling story of how animals can rescue humans too. Clare Connor, Director of England Women’s Cricket talks to Chris Stafford about how the World Cup tournament played out in England this summer where it broke all kinds of records, including a capacity crowd of 27,000 at Lords for the final between England and India. Germany’s Ingrid Klimke was finally crowned the European Eventing Champion in Strzegom— a title she has long been waiting for since she already had the silver and bronze to add to her three team gold medals at these championships. In addition she has accumulated four team gold medals from Olympic and World Games in a career spanning five Olympic Games and including numerous other titles.
