Alvin SEECO Patterson have more to say ALSO Junior Walker | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 03:49:00

Alvin “Seeco” Patterson was the percussionist in Bob Marley and the Wailers, and one of Marley’s closest confidants and friends.  He took Alvin Patterson as a stage name, and acquired the nickname “Seeco” as a bastardisation of his birth name Francisco. “Willy Pep” As a child,  As a young man, Patterson found work as a bauxite miner. In 1957, Patterson attempted to emigrate to the United States in search of better work.  Patterson first met a teenage Bob Marley, who was fifteen years Patterson’s junior, and living in the same Trench Town slums. Marley took note of Patterson because of his famed cricket bowling abilities, and began to follow Patterson around, in search of both cricket skills, and likely also a fatherly figure. As the Wailers rose in prominence on the scene, Patterson was thrown from the room and lost his Jamaican shoes in the process. Patterson began to contribute percussion tracks to a number of Wailers cuts. His first known contribution was on the June, 1967 session which produced “Lyrical Satyrical I” and “This Train”, and was released on the Wailers’ own Wail N Soul M label.Junia Walker born in Jamaica His infant school at Forester's Hall  doubled as a dance-hall for Jamaica's two premier sound systems Sir Coxsone's Downbeat and Duke Reid The Ruler.  Junia grew up in Carib from 4 years-old watching live shows with foreign artists from Fats Domino to Stevie Wonder and the cream of Jamaica talent including The Blues Busters, Jimmy Cliff and the Maytals. After high school he worked at Barclays Bank, Harbour St., Kingston where he started Black Equinox Disco playing at month-end bank parties and other Barclay Bank functions. This started a interaction between Junia and numerous artists, musicians and producers to secure new releases for his Disco, mainly from the Wailers Tuff Gong store

Glen DaCosta talks About Bob Marley's last tragic hours | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 04:00:00

Glen DaCosta worked with Bob Marley long before he became a superstar, beginning back in early 1972 at Lee Scratch Perrys Blackheart Studio in Kingston, Jamaica, where Bob was passing through with Bunny Wailer and Peter Tosh. At the time Glen DaCosta was there as a regular studio musician, and since Bob knew and liked my work he asked me to do saxophone arrangements for some of his own songs. They all got along well on a personal level, and that combined with the professional aspect meant my credentials with him were doubly good. Glen DaCosta was around when the original Marley trio split up, making way for, among others, Family Man Barrett, Al Anderson, Wya Lindo and the I Threes.Glen DaCosta played and partied with them all, the old and the new. Glen DaCosta witnessed Bobs serious drug habit and heard him talk about not only his rastafarian beliefs but also the doubts that caused him to search for alternative spiritual comfort in more troubled times. Glen DaCosta was in New York when Bob fell ill there, and even though only immediate family, doctors and lawyers were allowed to visit him, Junior Marvin, Tyrone Downie, Al Anderson and Carlton Barrett kept me informed of the situation. Glen DaCosta knew about his baldness from chemotherapy, about the wrong food he was fed that may have hastened his end, about his last tragic hours in

 David's profound near-death experience,Dying a 1000 times | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 03:07:00

David was diagnosed with a cardiac condition at the age of six. The condition was discovered after a trip to the ER and a profound near-death experience. During a follow up visit David collapsed and was pronounced dead by two physicians before coughing back to life. Growth during childhood would often led to agitation of the cardiac condition which would result in the loss of vital signs for a temporary time. The 'near-death' experience became a matter of regular routine for David and his family.  At the age of 18, after a car collision which resulted in another 'near-death' experience David developed a case of 'retrograde amnesia.' The loss of memory was associated with the severe physical trauma he endured from the cardiac condition.  He had recall of the 'trip to the light' from the car accident and would give testimony to family and friends.  He family stated, "You died a 1000 times growing up so it is nothing we haven't heard before."  The many near-death experiences led to mystical insights and experiences, including contact and communication with spirits of the departed.  David spent five years acting as a medium and passing on messages to surviving members and friends of departed souls as well as communicating with the spirits of five personal young friends who had passed away.  At the age of 28, David had a relapse of his childhood medical condition which led to another near-death experience.  After a few months, all the mystical and spiritual memories were buried in the 'unconscious' mind.   In recent years, the memories have returned again and David spends his time writing down, blogging and sharing his personal memories on the Internet.

Foundation Legend Denroy Mogan & Perfect ( Greg Rose) | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 04:00:00

Morgan was born in Jamaica, and migrated to Brooklyn, New York .. He was immediately seduced by the weekly live concerts at the Apollo Theatre in the 60s where he could see musical giants like James Brown, Wilson Pickett, O’Jays, Al Green and The Temptations. Denroy enrolled  at the New York School of Music.  There he briefly studied guitar and piano, and it wasn’t long before he started two bands in New York, Mad Creators, and later, Black Eagles. The latter enjoyed the distinction of becoming the first roots & culture reggae band in New York City.  A chance meeting with Denroy and Bert Reid, the saxophonist from the then flashy and popular Crown Heights Affair band led to a label deal and a chart topper with the radio anthems I’ll Do Anything and Sweet Tender Love in the early 1980s. Suddenly he found himself performing in unlikely venues like New York’s shrine to club music, the Paradise Garage, and he was instantly on tour with unlikely artists such as Frankie Beverly & Maze, Slave, Evelyn  King and Archie Bell and the Dells. Morgan become the first reggae artist to be signed by the major label RCA Records. Perfect (born Greg Rose, Jamaica) is a reggae singer The third child in a family of four children, Rose grew up in Bamboo, in the parish of St. Ann. Perfect cut his first tune as Little Ninja, before settling on his current stage name.He began deejaying in the sound system Trend Setter from Bamboo where he grown and recorded his first dubplates. In the late 1990s he often had to go to Kingston to make his name and record. The first song that really began making his name was "Lock Me Up" in 2004 for Courntey MacIntosh from Irie FM but he was really revealed with "Handcart Bwoy" in 2005. He released his first album, Giddimani, the next year. The Austrian record label Irie vibrations released his second album, Born Dead with Life, in 2008.

We invite you to participate in this most interesting and interactive show by calling in or participating in the "green" chat room. LRFF is working to solve climate change and lost resources by restoring the tropical forests in the "lungs of the world".  Climate change is our continuing topic. It's being caused by human activity not volcanoes, solar activity or a universal conspiracy. This is a platform for everyone to tell us your views on cc, ask questions about this most important issue. The majority of people are very uninformed about cc because it has become unmentionable in the mainstream media.  Talking about it is the first step to solving it.  As always great roots and culture music plus interesting Caribbean news and events.  Give us a call, get involved!
