This episode was previously recorded on 11/17/2012 to air today. No live chat and no live callers tonight. Dane Carley, Jeff Wallin, and Craig Nelson explore programs and resources provided by the IAFC to the fire service. Some of these programs, like the Firefighter Safety Culture research being conducted by Drexel University, could change the way the fire service looks at its accidents and bring a new dimension to our service's higher reliability. Then, we will talk with Asst. Chief Todd LeDuc from Broward County Fire and Rescue. This is a unique department because it is under the umbrella of the Broward County Sheriff's Office, which is the only entity to be accredited across three professions - fire, EMS, and law enforcement. We will find out how merging into a sheriff's office went so well and how it improved services to the community. Clay County Minnesota Sheriff Bill Bergquist will also join us to weigh-in from a mostly rural county that faces current financial and recruiting challenges without sharing services.
