018 SGL – Living the Simple Good Life – Rescued By A Neighbor And His Tractor | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 37:32

We get walloped at our NW Georgia homestead by an eight inch snow storm, our second snow storm within two weeks. Our white Christmas snow of four inches melted within a few days and that was a good thing. The Deep South is unaccustomed and unprepared to handle this much snow and so were we. In this episode we ex-Floridians talk about our feeble attempts to get ready for the winter blizzard that was on its way. The snow came as forecasted, boy did it!!! Without a four wheel drive vehicle, a snow blower or even a snow shovel, we were snowed in and stranded, until we were rescued by what looked to us to be a snow angel riding on a tractor. Listen in and hear our story of being snowed in, but not forgotten and meet our rescuer.  014 SGL – Living the Simple Good Life – Waiting Patiently Can Be Hard Work | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 29:05

In this episode Lynne and I talk about how our faith has been put to the test this week. The dark cloud of the massive national foreclosure processing crisis looms ominously overhead threatening our purchase of our NW Georgia homestead dream. With no mortgage approval or closing date yet, we continue in faith to further simplify by getting rid of stuff and packing for our scheduled move out of Florida on October 26, 2010. The Dixie Dachshund Boys are excited by all the commotion of the move and join in to help pack.  013 SGL – Living the Simple Good Life – Risk Is Part of the Very Nature of Faith | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 39:16

Subtitle: Is the Foreclosure Crisis Real or Another Political October Surprise? Where did the seeds of our desire to own a NW Georgia sustainable small farm homestead first get planted? Listen in as we tell the story of a spiritual mountain top trip and experience that began our long and hopefully successful journey. Will the developing bank caused foreclosure crisis halt or put at risk our signed Buyer’s Agreement and our dreams, to purchase our NW Georgia rural mountain homestead? We get in front of our new media reporter microphones and provide a fair and balanced “News Alert” regarding the massive national home foreclosure crisis. Is this a real crisis or a political October Surprise to affect the outcome of the November congressional midterm elections? We report…you decide! What does all of this mean for our moving plans and schedule? How will we respond to this potentially life altering dream breaking challenge? A significant amount of risk is involved in trusting God, in all things, in all relationships, in all choices and in all decisions. Risk is part of the very nature of faith (Dr. Charles Stanley, In Touch Ministries Atlanta, Georgia).  010 SGL – Living the Simple Good Life – Has Our Search For A Small Farm Homestead Ended? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 36:04

We use this episode to complete the details of our trip at the end of August to purchase a small farm homestead in NW Georgia. We headed back to LaFayette, Georgia this past week on a short three day trip to investigate four new additional properties. We discuss how excited we are to report the good news that we made a selection of one of those properties that we love, and submitted an Offer/Purchase Agreement with earnest money. We introduce our listeners to Billy Teems of Teems and Teems Realty located in LaFayette, Georgia. Billy has not only been our trusted real estate professional he is also becoming our new friend. Our search began in this area of Georgia, will it finally end here after a couple of years, at exactly the location and community of LaFayette that we have so desired? Or, was this our promise land that the Lord has been directing us to all this time? The picture below of Fisher Price’s “Little People” illustrates an intimate story Lynne shares from our early marriage years.  008 SGL – Living the Simple Good Life – Our Small Farm Search Leads Back to NW Georgia | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 28:18

Lynne, me and the Dixie Dachshund Boys headed back to NW Georgia on August 23rd in search of our small farm homestead. We stayed searching for a week and returned home on August 30th. We had such a hindering start to our trip that we decided to use this episode to whine about the petty circumstances that almost kept us from heading out, that is, if they all weren't so laughable. Next episode we will be discussing our productive week in Georgia and talk about some of the great people we were with and some of the details of our search.  006 SGL – Living the Simple Good Life – Left Behind in Rural America | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 25:50

In this episode we share more of our simple good life journey and our continued search for our small farm homestead. We give an update on our consideration of a five acre small farm in Trenton, Florida that we really like. Lynne and I are prepared to move really fast so we can occupy our promise land and start planting and growing for the fall harvest, and at the same time not be set back in the progress of our New Media business. We discuss at length and in some geekish terms, the impact that the lack of broadband in rural America, and especially at this five acre property location, is having on our decision making process. Our desire to be sustainable small farmers/new media podcasters adds to our internet broadband requirements. Not having all the knowledge and information about internet broadband, especially satellite provided broadband that we need for making a wise choice, we turn to Cliff Ravenscraft, “The Podcast Answer Man”, our trusted friend, and podcasting consultant and coach for his experience and valuable advice. We discuss our prayers and decision making process to make a wise decision in making this life changing move, to acquire this farm and don’t want to find ourselves, “Left Behind in Rural America.” Cliff Ravenscraft, the Podcast Answer Man Simple Good Life Network Contact Information: Email: ShowTalk@SimpleGoodLifeNetwork.com Listener Voicemail Feedback Line: 727-238-7276

We give highlights of the well attended conference and name this year’s multiple recipients of the 2010 Florida Innovative Farmer Award. We discuss the very positive response and gratitude that we received about this year’s conference from the many small farmers we interviewed. Barry and I had an educationally, socially and business rewarding experience and a super fun time at the conference. We offer our thanks and congratulations to the faculty, extension agents and staff at the University of Florida/IFAS and Florida A&M University/CESTA for a great and successful conference. We talk about the fun time we had as invited guests of the highly popular Family From The Heart podcasting show, co-hosted by Cliff and Stephanie Ravenscraft. Family From The Heart is one of many popular and successful podcasting shows that the Ravencrafts produce from their GSPN.TV Podcasting Network.
