I have put a lot of thought into ways in which we can decentralize national/federal governments and one of the solutions I keep coming back to is a form of direct democracy that uses our current IT technology in place of the ancient Greek forums to replace the executive branches of government. Bureaucratic institutions would obviously still need qualified individuals heading them, so for them I would propose breaking them down into 'crown corporations' that act independently with elected officials at the helm. What are your thoughts on a system like this?”Question 2: [32:10] – “I'm aware of the current situation of the world & the West in particular. Does peaceful parenting prepare children for a future that could very well be conflict ridden? I have some awareness of history and war, those involved were not raised with peaceful parenting, win or lose. I have read The Origins of War in Child Abuse by Lloyd DeMause and learned how a brutal upbringing can create an aggressive society. Could this potentially be an unfortunate advantage during wartime or times of widespread violence? The West has become weak & decadent, will peaceful parenting further worsen its prospect and make future generations less able to cope and excel during violent times? I see the value in peaceful parenting when the future is more predictably peaceful, but those raised with aggression may be more capable of handling violent trauma than those raised with peaceful parenting in violent times. Can children raised with peaceful parenting be readied for intense violence & conflict effectively?”Question 3: [1:00:16] – “Is authoritarianism somewhat of an inevitability? Authoritarianism is defined as ‘the enforcement or advocacy of strict obedience to authority at the expense of personal freedom.’ This does not explicitly state that said authority does not have to derive from the government. Certain dictates can be passed down and upheld through religion or culture in general or through other means. Even if we have a stateless society or a minarchist society at the very least, won't authoritarianism only manifest itself in other ways?”Question 4: [1:14:09] – “I am a 43-year-old married mother of a teenage girl on year away from high school graduation. I spent a majority of my life in a victim mentality which was lived out through complacency, harmful coping strategies and underachieving. I feel that I stuck in a pattern I cannot easily break bur desperately want to do so for my daughter’s sake. I fight the feeling that it’s too little to late. What your advice for affecting positive change later in life with older children. Is it even possible to make a difference so late in her teenage years?”Question 5: [2:15:13] – “I have recently departed a career with a very high salary as a result of the industries chosen direction to diversify their staff. As a byproduct, everything that I had built over my career had been dismantled and replaced with a newer liberal friendly culture in less than 5 years with the end result of me being pushed out and my team collapsing. Now I'm questioning the entire structure of the corporate world but more specifically; how can someone compete in this new business culture where women and "minorities" are given preferential treatment? It seems as though the corporate space is filled with incompetent leaders and workers that are incapable of doing the job that they were hired for. Leaving the majority of work on the plate of those that are competent and then punishing them for not meeting unrealistic expectations. Additionally, these workers can't be trained and drag the business further down, taking away any competitive edge that the business units originally had. I've been shocked at the change I have seen in only the last 5 or so years since I graduated, and it has made me seriously question the direction of the UK university system. Debate now is entirely group and identity based, even in debate hustings facts are secondary and arguments are subject entirely to identity politics. I recently attended my first ever competition at the ripe old age of 27 and had (what I believed to be uncontroversial arguments based on fact) cast as colonialist and borderline white supremacist. My question for Stefan is how do I navigate this new post-fact campus; I need to survive here for another 4 years do I just grit my teeth and pretend I see nothing?”Question 2: [44:33] – “I was raised Christian and I have faith that God exists (even though using that word is wrong). I've listened to as many conversations about God you've had as I can find, as well as reading your books on the subject. I fervently seek the truth and pride myself in putting logic and reason first. This puts me into a state of inner conflict pertaining to my faith. I honestly do think it is possible that because I was raised believing in God, I am unable to let go of a belief that has shaped so much of my life. Yet, even though I will admit that as a possibility, I do not think that is what it is, or at least not all of it. That leads me to a question I want to ask you. You’ve said that if one makes the argument that God doesn’t need to be created, that you can then say the same thing about the universe. Also, you say that complexity has to be proceeded by lesser complexity. Do you see any conflict between these two thoughts? From the understanding I have of science, the universe can't be infinite. I think a critical analysis of our universe puts you face to face with having to contend with that which isn't empirical and that which doesn't conform with our understanding of science and reality. Or is this a sort of confirmation bias observation of reality, a sort of "God of the gaps" argument that I've come up with? I'm interested to discuss this with you and to hear your thoughts.”Question 3: [1:35:51] – “I'm writing in because of a recent podcast I listened to involving changes to the story of the Florida School Shooting. Stefan discussed some topics I'm intimately familiar with due to my profession. I am a special education teacher working in an alternative program for students who've been expelled from their regular schools. I'm certain that my school is very similar to the one Nikolas attended for a short time before his shooting rampage. I would like to share some of the outrageous things I've seen happening in public education and the special education world as a whole. There are a lot of cases very similar to Nikolas Cruz and I think many of these, students are ticking time bombs and it's only a matter of time before we see more instances of mass violence. Due to federal laws, students can basically get away with anything. We've had students attack teachers, bring knives and even guns to school, sell drugs on school property, and much more. They have little to no lasting consequences. This is especially true if they have an Individual Education Plan. Prior to meeting him, I was largely career-oriented and assumed I would get married and have kids later in life. Since I've learned what a great father he will be, in combination with the information that I've learned from yourself (Stefan), Jordan Peterson and others, I've started questioning whether or not I'm making the right decision (thinking I can have a career now and children later). I know that it is typically not possible to have a career, be a mother and a wife, and do all three well, but my boyfriend believes I will be able to do so. I was immediately sucked in. The focus on prevention rather than treatment resonated with me because I believe that with intervention on the front end, maybe we can stop the cycle of death and tragedy associated with substance use. So I went for it and pursued my Master's in Public Health. I foolishly thought that my tendency toward market justice would enhance discussion with my social justice peers and result in richer conversations and more sturdy solutions. Instead, I was cast as the unfeeling, judgmental, and, everyone's favorite, racist white woman. I escaped grad school and the characterizations of my peers did not affect my job prospects at all, which was encouraging. I now have a platform from which I might be able to influence the direction of substance use prevention in my county, but I am afraid of alienating the network I have spent the last year building because my beliefs about prevention may appear radical to them. Because of my lack of success and compatibility with American women, I decided to try international dating sites. After exploring around for a while, I finally met a girl who I feel could be the one.
