In the countryside the war of the Cristiada began on August 3, 1924. "Viva Cristo Rey! Viva la Virgin de Guadalupe!" was the war cry. The women were instrumental. When the war was declared ended the persecution escalated and the remaining Cristeros were hunted.

Saint Thomas speaks of rash judgement as those times, when the human intellect lacks certainty, as when a person, without any solid motive, forms a negative judgment on some doubtful or hidden matter, it is called judgment by suspicion or rash judgment (Summa Theologica, Quest. 60, art 2). There are few ways better than passing rash judgement to insure a harsh judgement for ourselves when we appear before the Divine Tribunal: "For with what judgment you judge, you shall be judged: and with what measure you mete, it shall be measured to you again" (Matthew 7:2).
