This is probably our largest "review" episode ever as Laremy and I give our thoughts on Premium Rush, The Apparition, Hit and Run, Celeste and Jesse Forever and Laremy finally got to see Rust and Bone, which I saw in Cannes. Of course we also get into your questions, a few topics from the recent week, some Oscar discussion and everything else you've come to expect from us each Friday.
It's episode #100 and we're coming out guns blazing with a grand total of six guests including Kevin Jagernauth from The Playlist, Vince Mancini from FilmDrunk, Aurelien and Emma from CinemaTeaser and Cheetara and CinemaScore joins us to review Bachelorette. On top of all of that we fit in some listener questions, over/unders, buy or sells and discuss the unfortunate passing of Tony Scott. I tried my hardest to make it work out to exactly 100 minutes for this episode, but I could only manage 98. Either way, we hope you enjoy and thank you for listening.
Laremy's schedule has kept him busy so I brought in Kevin Jagernauth from The Playlist once again to review ParaNorman and David Cronenberg's Cosmopolis with me after which Laremy and I go straight into the standard routine, examining the latest news, exploring AS's action commentary, some thoughts on Lars von Trier's Nymphomaniac, Over/Unders, Buy or Sell and, of course, your questions. Next Tuesday will be the podcast's 100th episode and we have already lined up six guests to join us for the festivities. Hopefully it will be as entertaining as I think it will be.
Now with three segments -- Over/Unders, Buy or Sell and What This, Watch That -- it's all we can do to fit in listener questions and recent news as this Tuesday podcast runs a solid 80 minutes and also includes the latest DVDs and Blu-rays, a Box-Office Challenge update it would seem no one saw coming, a brief look at the state of today's cinema and the idea of movie star vs. celebrity and just other random nonsense to fill your ear hole.
It's Friday and that means it's review day and we have three films featured this week including The Bourne Legacy, The Campaign and Hope Springs while Brad also adds some brief thoughts on four documentaries he's watched recently Samsara, The Imposter, The Ambassador and Side by Side. We discuss Joss Whedon's dedication to The Avengers franchise, Kick-Ass 2, your questions, over/unders, buy or sell and a new segment provided by "the colleague" we are calling "Watch This or Watch That". This episode also features a brief segment at the end in which Cheetara and CinemaScore review The Bourne Legacy. Overall, we think we've put together a decent episode and hope you enjoy.
Another jam-packed edition of the Tuesday podcast here at RopeofSilicon where Laremy gets made fun of by the Broken Lizard boys, we discuss Warner Bros. moving The Great Gatsby, we saw the Man of Steel teaser trailer, we're answering your questions, over/unders, buy or sells and just generally talking about anything and everything movies.
It's an easy-going episode of the Friday installment of the podcast here at RopeofSilicon headquarters as we kickstart today's episode with a brief chat with Laremy's wife (aka CinemaScore) talking "Top Chef Masters" and the Olympics before diving into movie-related conversation from Ghostbusters 3 and Prometheus 2 before reviewing Total Recall and Babymakers. We answer several of your questions, dig into over/unders, solve some Buy or Sells with the utmost dexterity and generate a few Adam Sandler plot lines to laugh at. All of that and more in today's episode We hope you enjoy.
Hello all and welcome to this week's Tuesday edition of the RopeofSilicon podcast where we explore the newest DVD and Blu-ray releases along with the latest in movie news. Of course we get to several of your questions, over/unders and buy or sell submissions while also complaining about the Olympics coverage, updating our box-office challenge and playing a RottenTomatoes game as submitted by loyal listener the colleague.
A jam-packed Friday edition of the RopeofSilicon podcast where we review Step Up Revolution, Ruby Sparks and Klown and also bring back Kevin Jagernauth from The Playlist to help us review The Watch. Beyond that we gave away a prize for the best question/topic/over under/etc. and there were a lot to choose from as you all came with the goods this week. We update the box office challenge as The Dark Knight Rises expands globally this weekend, discuss Gangster Squad moving its release date, delve into several Over/Unders and Buy or Sells, all in the process of bringing one hour and 38 minutes of movie discussion straight to your eardrum. Hope you enjoy.
The Internet has taken to pointing out plot holes in The Dark Knight Rises and we discuss. A commenter calls Laremy and I "disgusting" and "shameful" for our discussion of the Aurora, Colorado shootings we discuss. The 2012 Toronto Film Festival lineup was announced of which Laremy and I will both be in attendance and so you guessed it, we discuss. We also bounce around topics surrounding The Dark Knight Rises, the reshoots going on with Gangster Squad, new DVDs and Blu-rays, over/unders, buy or sells and more.
Obviously today's podcast includes plenty having to do with The Dark Knight Rises including our review, a small spoiler section at the end and discussion of the tragic shooting in Colorado, but beyond that there is plenty left to discuss including a lengthy conversation regarding film criticism and Kevin Smith's latest comments from Comic Con, your questions, over/unders, box-office and Best Picture conversation and much more.
The Dark Knight Rises hits theaters on Friday and the review embargo has been lifted. Most reviews have been positive, some negative, the latter has made people that haven't seen the film very mad and RottenTomatoes has had to respond. We discuss. On top of that we have all the regular Tuesday content including new DVD and Blu-ray releases, news, your questions, over/unders and all that goodness. I am posting this and off to go see The Dark Knight Rises so be sure to enjoy today's episode and return on Friday for our discussion of the film (my review will be posted tomorrow).
Today we learn new word, explore "American Idol" and the upcoming show "Revolution" and review Ice Age: Continental Drift and Red Lights while also discussing the Viacom and DirectTV mess. We also express our dislike of Comic Con, call one commenter out for trying to dupe us in #GoodComments and answer your questions, over/unders and Buy or Sells.
It felt like more of a laid back episode today as Laremy and I begin with the newest DVD and Blu-ray releases, do an update on our Summer Box-Office Challenge, answer several listener questions, tackle over/unders and delve into an epic segment of Good Comments before closing it out with a brief rundown of the latest movie news headlines.
Happy Friday to all, we have an 80-minute edition of the RopeofSilicon podcast for you today as we review Oliver Stone's Savages, continue the Spider-Man discussion in a spoiler section at the end of the podcast and everywhere else address your questions, over/unders, buy or sell and discuss all the weekly movie news topics as they surface.
