Chaosium has released a public playtest for Call of Cthulhu 7th edition!
Episode 14 gives us a new Lecture, a fresh crop of Ennie winners, and we finish off with discussion on options for your campaigns regarding published adventures, original stories and sandboxing.
Episode 13 gives us a new Lecture, a visit to the aquarium section of the Bestiary, and a discussion of the gadgets and plugins from the Keeper's Toolkit section of the Call of Cthulhu rulebook.
Episode 12 starts off as usual with feedback. Then we have another installment of the Lecture Series, Keeper Jon tells us about his upcoming book from Goodman Games, and then we dive into the murky and heated topic of the proposed 7th edition rules for Call of Cthulhu.
Episode 11 kicks off with a voicemail. Then we have another installment of the Lecture Series, Keeper Jon tells us about his experiences at KantCon, and then we wrap up by going over the rules for magic in Call of Cthulhu.
Episode 10 has several technical gaffs in it. Most of which are Murph's fault, though he blames Byakhees summoned by kittens to mess with his laptop. Despite all this, we have some good content in here (when we're not tangenting all over the map). We have a lecture by Dr. Gerard on the Pangboche Hand; a Bestiary where we toss a femur to our favorite dog-boys; and the main topic is the rules for reading those huge, smelly, crunchy, moldy tomes your investigators found in some crazy guys' basement.
Episode 9 is jam-packed with segments and discussion. We have a new Lecture segment to premier, a Special Collections visit, voicemail, and discussion of the Sanity system. This show is Murph-less, but we have the company of a guest host, Player Cliff.
Episode 8 moves away from the usual rule book discussion, and talks about the general feel of Lovecraft country with guest host Tom Lynch of Miskatonic River Press!
Episode 7 covers the remainder of the combat system for Call of Cthulhu. We also take a walk in the woods for our Bestiary segment.
Episode 6 covers the offensive combat skills used in Call of Cthulhu. We also have feedback and a visit to the Special Collections vault.
Episode 5 takes us into the one of the next main topics of any roleplaying game, combat. We started recording late, so this is a fairly short show. We only get as far as initiative, but it's a good start to the series.
In the final part of our character creation series, we discuss equipping your character so they're prepared to step out into the world. We also cover one of the most relentless creatures of the Mythos, and we detail our first contest!
We continue with part 2 of our character creation series, moving to the section your hosts have the most fun with, Occupations and Skills. We also peek into one of the sanity-blasting books of the Mythos.
We go into the character creation series beginning with character attributes. We go into depth on what the attributes mean and how they interact with their derived characteristics.
