Open Metalcast Episode #116: Larks Returning | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 46:59

Some sad news to report with this episode. Apparently the album "Larks" is the last "Returning We Hear the Larks" album for the foreseeable future. But "Larks" is an excellent album comprising of re-recorded versions of popular songs spanning the career of Returning We Hear the Larks. Hopefully it won't be the last we hear of this amazing band. And while we end this episode on a bit of a downer we have 45 minutes of ear-punishing Creative Commons Metal starting with a brutal track from Austin Deathrip, Alexander Oden, Manakel, Polygons, Fallen to Flux, and TORT. Add to that a brand new EP from Deep Space Destructors and you have a broad swath of metal music to check out and support.  Open Metalcast Episode #114: The Spaces In-Between | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 52:10

This episode we decided instead of our normal format we'd try something similar to our neglected (and long overdue) Instrumetalcast episodes and just let the music play straight through. Part of this was tracks selected for this episode lent themselves better to being played with just enough space left in-between them to breathe. This episode features an amazing line-up of tracks from Frigoris, Doodsangst, Odradek Room, Lotus Eater, The Scimitar, WOHEDNESS, Ladder Devils, Screaming At The Sun, and finishes up with the latest from Palm Desert. It's a mix of blackened death metal and doom that breathes best with a pair of headphones. Shownotes after the break: * (00:24) Im Keim ertrunken by Frigoris from Wind (BY-NC) * (07:47) de naamloze ziel by Doodsangst from de zekere afgrond (BY-NC-ND) * (11:48) Inflorescence of Silence by Odradek Room from Bardo Relative Reality (BY-NC) * (18:08) Red Desert by Lotus Eater from Sanctum of the White Lotus – EP (BY-NC-SA) * (24:48) Void Traveler by The Scimitar from Doomsayer (BY-NC-ND) * (31:27) Usurping the Throne by WOHEDNESS from WOHEDNESS (BY-NC-ND) * (35:29) Hunt For Life by Ladder Devils from Clean Hands (BY-NC-SA) * (38:45) Singularity by Screaming At The Sun from Screaming At The Sun (BY-NC-SA) * (45:19) No pain No sorrow by Palm Desert from Pearls from the muddy hollow (BY-NC-ND) Please support the bands in this show!
