Our first official sanitation show. We are joined by Charlie Talley, one of the founders of Five Star Chemical Company. Charlie tells us all the do's and dont's of Star San, Saniclean, Iodiphor and PBW. It's an all around great discussion that dispels many of the myths around sanitizers, and answers many of the questions homebrewers have regarding sanitizing chemicals.
A virtual free for all, even for The Brewing Network. We start with feedback, then Beer Jeopardy, then move on to take all questions under the sun. From Whirlpooling to Decoction Mashing, we answer all listener questions..and they run the gamut!
Our first high gravity beer show. Chris Graham of Beer Beer and More Beer co-hosted with us this week as we discussed all things high gravity. Tune in to the middle of the show for all the great info (which includes Doc and Jamil's expertise too) and the end of the show for all the fun and great listener calls.
This show features "The Geno" of El Toro Brewing Company. We have a great discussion about everything from skunky bottled beer to starting a brewery with nothing but your life savings (as if that isn't enough). The show really covers a wide range of great topics and is full of great homebrew hints all the way through. Listen close because we move from one gem to the next.
Our official "Cask Conditioning" show with Dave Mclean from Magnolia Pub and Brewery in S.F. California. Dave gives us some pointers on how best to store and serve the cask brews, as well as some great ingredient disscussion, including a short lesson in how "floor-malted" Marris Otter is made. Also, a brief summary of the Toronado Barleywine Fest and the great beers it had to offer this year.
This great episode features award winning homebrewer Jim Rossi telling us about the switch from extract to all grain and his brewing process that makes his Pale Ale's and IPA's win time and again. We also feature a new game, "Who Wants to Build a Kegerator" to give away a full keg system from Northern Brewer!
Our Superbowl Sunday show was completely devoid of any useful information, but we did have a good time giving away lots of cool stuff to our listeners. Tune in for Beer Jeopardy, Jon rapping, Brewcaster impersonations and some all aroud good laughs.
This show features Gary Glass, Director of the American Homebrewers Association (AHA). We discuss the politics of homebrew, why the AHA is good for you, and the upcoming National Homebrew Competition. There's also some funny audio clips, and Justin has to pee real bad....Just listen already!
I'm proud of this show...there...I said it. Chris White from White Labs Yeast joins us for a really great show that covers a lot of information (really it does) about yeast. From propagaton to re-pitching, this interview is one of our best. See for yourself. Oh..and there's a new song featuring the Vinnie Puppet too! Maybe that's what made me so happy.
It's the second coming! Well...of Vinnie Cilurzo from Russian River Brewing Company anyway. I know not everyone can get their hands on his beer, but his information is just as good, and we've got it here. This time we discuss growing your own hops, some hop placement in beer, and The Vinnie Puppet claims to be the brains behind the organization. It's another long one...but good fun. Oh and...what did Doc Say?????
Our first show of 2006 strays way off the homebrew topic...but what a great show to bring in the new year with some good old fashioned fun! Aaron Dorsey from Beach Chalet Brewing Company joins us to talk about his beers as well as the brew program he graduated from at UC Davis in California. And Roger Davis and Shaun O'sullivan surprise us in the studio with a visit to say congrats on the New BN!
The Gadget Show. Featuring some great homemade gadget projects, an hilarious discussion about what to buy the wife for xmas, Jon fighting with Jamil, Daniela dumping Justin, Crazy Jack in the studio, and a great big thanks to you for listening. What a finale to 2005. Stay tuned....2006 will be better than ever.
Homebrew royalty here! Charlie Papazian joins The Brewcasters on this episode of TheBN Live Sunday Show. We talk about his new book, his homebrew, brew politics, brewing in space (weird!), and much more. The most fun we've had in awhile. Morgan from EJ Phair joins us too and helps us relax with good beer!
This show features our first interview with a brewer from outside of the Pacific Northwest, Titletown Brewing Company. Eric Watson, Brewmaster at Titletown, joins via telephone for a full 1 1/2 hour interview as we discuss mash techniques and temps, as well as commercial beer education. Eric gives some great tips for homebrewers to gain more efficiency out of their mash...even on a strict budget!
This show features another great appearance by Jamil Zainashef. So much information, in fact, that we went on fot 3 1/2 hours before finally just calling it a night. Yeast and fermentation information abound here folks...and a little surprise revealed also...
