Don't forget to stop by HindiPod101.com for more great Hindi Language Learning Resources! -------Lesson Dialog------- ----Formal ---- शिवाजी भोंसले मराठा साम्राज्य के संस्थापक शिवाजी भोंसले का जन्म 1630 में उस समय हुआ था जब भारत पर मुगलों का शासन था| एक प्रतिबद्ध हिंदू जो अन्य धर्मों का भी सम्मान करते थे और उन्हें संरक्षण देते थे, शिवाजी को "हिंदू लोगों के स्व-शासन" हिन्दवी स्वराज्य की स्थापना का श्रेय दिया जाता है| इसके बावजूद कि उन्होंने मुस्लिम मुगलों के खिलाफ लड़ाई लड़ी, शिवाजी ने अपने प्रदेशों में मुस्लिम इबादत स्थलों की रक्षा की और अपनी सेना में मुस्लिम जनरलों पर भरोसा किया| हिंदू और सूफी दोनों प्रकार के संतों के साथ परामर्श करना उनके लिए असामान्य नहीं था| वे अपनी सैन्य शक्ति के लिए प्रसिद्ध हैं; 16 वर्ष की उम्र में उन्होंने पुणे में बीजापुर राज्य के टोरना किले पर कब्जा कर लिया, अधिक बड़े और भारी सशस्त्र दुश्मनों के खिलाफ इलाके, गति और गोपनीयता की स्थानीय जानकारी का लाभ लेने के लिए उन्होंने छापामार युद्ध की रणनीति विकसित की| शिवाजी के शासन के तहत एक मंत्रिमंडल की अवधारणा स्थापित की गयी जिसमें राज्य की जिम्मेदारियां आठ अलग-अलग मंत्रियों; एक वज़ीर या उप-शासक, एक लेखा परीक्षक, एक शाही दस्तावेजकार और समारोह के विशेषज्ञ, शाही संवाददाता, विदेशी मामलों के मंत्री, सैन्य सलाहकार, शैक्षिक एवं आध्यात्मिक सलाहकार और न्यायिक सलाहकार के बीच बाँट दी गयीं| प्राचीन भारतीय भाषा संस्कृत को बढ़ावा देने वाले शिवाजी ने एक नई मिसाल कायम की जब उन्होंने अपने दरबार की भाषा मराठी के रूप में स्थापित की जो मुगलों के फ़ारसी भाषा पर आधारित दरबारों के विपरीत थी| उन्होंने अपने शासन के तहत अल्पसंख्यकों की रक्षा की, दासत्व को गैरकानूनी घोषित किया और धर्म की स्वतंत्रता का समर्थन किया| महिलाओं के लिए उनके मन में काफी सम्मान था और उन्होंने जबरदस्ती धर्मांतरण का विरोध किया था| 1680 के अप्रैल महीने में शिवाजी का निधन हो गया और उनका उत्तराधिकार उनके बेटे संभाजी ने संभाला| हिंदू राष्ट्र के जनक शिवाजी को भारतीय स्कूली पुस्तकों में काफी उच्च दर्जा दिया जाता है और ब्रिटिश राज के खिलाफ भारतीय स्वतंत्रता आंदोलन के दौरान उन्होने एक अग्रणी भूमिका निभाई थी| भारत के एक रूढ़िवादी हिंदू-कट्टरपंथी राजनीतिक दल ने स्वयं का नामकरण शिवाजी के नाम पर किया है, और स्वयं को "शिवसेना" (शिव की सेना) कहलाती है| ----Formal English---- SHIVAJI BHONSLE The founder of the Maratha Empire, Shivaji Bhonsle was born in 1630 at a time when the Mughals ruled India. A committed Hindu who also respected and protected other faiths, Shivaji was credited with establishing "The Self-Rule of Hindu People," the Hindavi Swarajya. Even as he battled against the Muslim Mughals, Shivaji protected Muslim places of worship in his territories and could count on Muslim generals in his army. It was not unusual for him to consult with both Hindu and Sufi sages. He was famous for his military prowess; at sixteen he captured the Torna Fort in the Bijapur kingdom in Pune, and he developed guerrilla warfare tactics to take advantage of local knowledge of terrain, speed, and stealth against larger and heavier armed foes. Under Shivaji's rule, the concept of a cabinet was established with responsibilities of the state divided between eight distinct ministers—a vizier or vice-ruler, an auditor, a royal recorder and master of ceremony, royal correspondent, foreign affairs minister, military advisor, educational and spiritual advisor, and a judicial advisor. A promoter of the ancient Indian language of Sanskrit, Shivaji set a new precedent when he established the language of his court as Marathi, in contradiction to the Persian language-based courts of the Mughals. He protected minorities under his rule, outlawed slavery, and supported freedom of religion. He had a great respect for women and was opposed to forced religious conversions. Shivaji passed away in April of 1680 and he was succeeded by his son Sambhaji. The father of the Hindu nation, Shivaji is well remembered in Indian [...]
