It's The Deucecast. Yes we're back after a week long vacation to Ibiza. Well sort of back. We're trying another extremely successful DeuceTrax Episode. Rather than more Ewok Adventures we decided to up the ante to the man the ledgend Sylvester Stallone. We chose one of his classic '90s action extravaganza "Daylight." Please enjoy as you will no doubt hear many a bad Stallone inpersonation.
It's been 6 months since you tried to stick to those New Year's resolutions. You've lost all pretenses of trying to shed any extra calories. We at The Deucecast understand where your coming from. Not firsthand, of course; none of us bothered to make any resolutions like that. But we know it's hard. And so this week we're performing a public service, as we bring you a full episode of Rhett doing what he does best: helping friends burn calories through laughter. So get your exercise in for the week by an increase in heart rate and elevated levels of endorphins by laughing along with us at all the things that have been stuck in Rhett's craw. Just keep the water bottle handy to stay hydrated: you'll need to replenish from those tears of laughter!
U-S-A! U-S-A! Celebrate America with The Deucecast, as we have some fireworks of our own! Like Katy Perry , baby we are fireworks. We kick off the show by guzzling some Warhead Sour Apple liquidy stuff that tasted terrible. We also welcome in Big Tom to the show, the final Deuce Guy to make an appearance. With Shawn also on mic, and Tommy on computer, then The Right Reverend Ty Coffey making a random appearance, it is a full Deuce celebration! We discuss the Pure Moods old CDs... Tom and his daughter headed to Alabama Water World Adventures... d$ DJ's a wedding and leaves out the most important song... Mikey spends some time at the theater... and Shawn reveals his upcoming major photo job! We also dish on Tom & Katie... some movie casting news... Andy Griffith's death... The Amazing Spiderman... Moonrise Kingdom... and even more. Mikey shares some Dub Stepping (?), and d$ shares the final part of The Americana Buried Treasure Series... with a super, duper 35 hit wonder ! The guys then play a new game about America called "Awesome American or Commie", where we determine who is truly born on American soil and who is... well, a commie. Then the dudes share their favorite American songs for their favorite American soundtracks... we share everything from Guns N Roses ... Jimi Hendrix ... some Footloose music... Martina McBride and even more! Even though we are taking a week off... we won't leave you hanging! Next week... The Best of Hurricane Rhett... and coming up, we'll be doing the latest DeuceTrax on the Sly Stallone classic "Daylight". And soon, The Deucecast Episode LXIII: The Garden of the Podcast of Good and Evil.
Now that The Deucecast Episode LX: The Podcast Ultimatum is in the books, there's nothing left to do but... The Deucecast Episode LXI: LA Podfidential! Its just Mikey and d$ in studio this week... we hit the show running with Mikey's birthday celebration... a trip to Atlanta and the zoo... Mikey's kid's fascination with pandas... his Best Buy gift card... the Alien Anthology... d$'s sick kid woes... snot sucking... eating at The Varsity... and phone calls versus texts. Also discussed is the recent death of the TMNT Michael Bay project... a "Brave" review... TV and Movie news... and Kevin Smith heads to Star Wars Celebration. We also remember The Deuce days, and the 12th anniversary of DeuceFest 2000! The guys play another quick round of The Ryan Phillippe Game, with Richard Gere, Robert Redford, and Eddie Murphy... Mikey's Music Minute with the comeback of a crappy 90s band The Smashing Pumpkins... and d$'s Buried Treasure has, literally, a buried treasure. The Big Three puts on the flannel, as the guys list not just 3, not 5, but 15 of their favorite 90s grunge/alternative songs... STP...Green Day...Nada Surf...Butthole Surfers...Bush...Lemonheads...Nirvana... and so much more... Next week, a very special episode of The Deucecast, as we bring in some of our favorite people, including Big Tom! Mikey has some more crap that he tries to pass off as music... and the final chapter of the Buried Treasure Americana Music Series, with an incredibly awesome incredible Buried Treasure that will have you shouting, "Awesome!" and "Incredible!" Our Big Three is Favorite American Themed Music... and that's on The Deucecast Ep LXII: Pod Force One.
Welcome to The Deucecast Episode SIXTY: The Podcast Ultimatum! As we celebrate 12 years since the first DeuceFest, we welcome back to the cast, Big Drew! Kicking off the show, we dig on Mangrates... MTV Spring Break... Father Day's celebrations... Father's Day Card searches... when does Father's Day count?... The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo ... Rio ... Sesame Street, the Movie? ... Cracker songs ... Mikey's crappy music is less crappy than normal with some Danger Mouse infused Norah Jones ... d$ busts out with a Queen Latifah starring unCommon movie... and Drew brings in a Smorg that leads to a great discusson on the legality of file sharing and downloading music. Do we do it? Should we do it? We answer those questions like only the hard hitting journalistic integrity of The Deucecast News Team can do. The Big Three sings a great song, with our favorite musical moments from non-musicals, including music from High Fidelity .. Back to the Future ...& Kill Bill: Volume 1 ...and Jennifer Love Hewitt. Twice! One of my favorites... The Tiny Dancer scene in Almost Famous ... And the music continues with a great round of Name That Crap! Next week, we try and get in Hurricane Rhett for our show, with a new music minute from Mikey... the final Treasure in our Americana Buried Treasure Series... and the Big Three goes slightly retro with The Big Three Favorite 90s Grunge Songs... that's on The Deucecast Episode LXI: The Girl with the Podcast Tattoo...
One step closer to the monumental Episode Sixty (well, all the shows are monumental, this one just happens to be a 10-number milestone, next week), its The Deucecast Episode the Fifty Ninth: The Podcast Supremacy. This famous scene from Reservoir Dogs made someone's list of Favorite Opening Sequences in Movies Mikey lets us know that when the wife is away, the Mikey will play, at least in terms of going to the movies over and over and over and over... and hooking up! (the surround sound, that is), plus a visit to a local brewery... that is only slightly less impressive than the travels of returning guest The Good Doctor Earl, who is back from a The Deucecast assignment in the Dominican Republic, infection and all. Mike's music lets us in on some Of Monsters and Men, while The Dying with Dr. Earl segment (sponsored by AudibleTrial.com/DEUCE) covers the crazy "face eating" story from south Florida. And The Ryan Phillippe game is up, played fast and furious and covering such luminaries as Denzel, Jude Law and, really, how many Julia Roberts movies can you name under pressure? This slightly less well known scene from the less well known independent film "Reservoir Deuce" did not make anyone's list The Big Three is our favorite opening scenes to movies, and we cover films from Spielberg, Nolan, Tarantino, Pixar, and even a little classical music too. We also hit on Prometheus, Snow White and the Huntsman, John Carter, Chronicle, That Thing You Do!, Rio and more, plus an in-depth (re: d$ was snoozing) discussion on IMAX technology, and chatter on The Hobbit and Mikey's love of Kirsten Dunst. Check us out next week, when Drewski Poohski makes his big June debut on The Big Show, bringing another movie smorg... The Buried Treasure returns with a classic Americana film that's a little unCommon... Mikey gives us more musical crap to have to suffer through... and we give you The Big Three Favorite Musical Scenes in all of filmdom. You can catch that on The Deucecast Episode LX: The Podcast Ultimatum
Its The Deucecast Episode 58, The Podcast Identity! Mikey and d$ are back for more supremacy in the podcast world, and joining us is the return of Mikey's (not)twin sista' Stephanie... joining us for more fun, making the trip from her home state of Missouri just to be here to see the show! Later on in the show, we get to trailers for "Django Unchained " and "Wreck-It Ralph "... Charlie Sheen's new 'tude... Green Lantern's new choices... John Mayer's new humiliation... and Miley Cyrus' new ring. We kick it off with an unidentified cola-type drink, called "Cola", and then we dive into discussions about Magic City Brewfest... Steel City Pops... searching for the perfect IMAX... baby talk... and former co-host Matty visiting overseas... Mikey's Music takes on The Lumineers , while d$ brings home another American Buried Treasure, M.C. Gainey, in Part Three of the Buried Treasure Americana Series... then Mikey tries to reclaim his dignity in Round Two of "Battle of the Sexes" with his sista'... We get happy with The Big Three this week too, with the songs that make us smile the most... and its an expounded, expanded, larger-than-life list with Tupac ... The Goo Goo Dolls ... Sheryl Crow ... The Avett Brothers... and last but certainly not least Kenny Loggins ... Next week... we get The Good Doctor Earl in studio and discuss The Big Three Favorite Movie Opening Scenes... and a round of The Ryan Phillipe Game... more Mikey Music Crap... and d$ discovers his powers. His Powers Booth, that is. That's on The Deucecast Episode 59: The Podcast Supremacy
Sometimes, when Mike and d$ have Hurricane Rhett in the studio, Mike and d$ sit back and ask themselves "What could be better than having one Barnett on the show?" That question was answered for us on The Deucecast Episode LVII: Indiana Dave and the Podcast of the Crystal Skull... the answer to that age-old query of "What is better than one Barnett" is quite simply... "Two Barnetts". That's right, Hurricane Rhett and his boo Amarylis join us in studio to crack wise, get funny with the ha ha and add to what is already an exceptional hour and change in podcast excellence. Its the 1980s Borat! What a country!!! The group kicks off the show with discussions on losing power... taking the kids to Atlanta... the new Earth Fare healthy supermarket... the alternatives to Scotty's space burial... visiting Branson, Missouri... and the crime of missing Yakov Smirnoff... Other topics discuss more Star Wars... a Twitter slap from Charlie to Jack... a viewing of Tower Heist... the box office prowess of The Avengers... and the return of one of Mikey's favorite kiddy cartoons. Mikey brings the crappy music once again with more Alabama Shakes... and d$ continues his Buried Treasure series with Part II of the Forgotten American Treasures with a huge group from the 80s that is largely missing from America's current culture. Rhett's Rants blows through the studio like a Hurricane, and once again, no one is disappointed... topics this time include gated communities... cute animals on Facebook... grown men and their ponytails... inspirational captions on Facebook... and pretty much any stay-at-home mom with too much time on their hands when it comes to Facebook postings all day long. The Big Three jumps in on more misery with the worst acting performances we've ever seen, including stellar bad turns from the likes of Kevin Costner... Tom Hanks... Vince Vaughn... and even the likes of legends like Gary Oldman and Morgan Freeman... oh, and somebody doing a horrible Michael Jackson impersonation. Too soon? Don't forget to join us next week when Steph Rector makes her return appearance, with our Big Three being Favorite Happy Songs. Plus, another edition of Forgotten American Treasures from d$, more crap from Mikey... and more fun in The Deucecast Episode LVIII: The Podcast Identity Mike's Music Minute: Boys & Girls - Alabama Shakes Dave's Buried Treasure: 20th Century Masters: The Millennium Collection: Best Of The Jets The Big 3: The One Where We Discuss The Worst Acting Performances Ever: Dave's Choice - Howie Long in Broken Arrow [Blu-ray] Mike's Choice - David Caruso in Jade [Blu-ray] Rhett's Choice Tom Hanks in Apollo 13 (15th Anniversary Edition) [Blu-ray] Amarilys's Choice - Michael Jackson in This Is It [Blu-ray] Roundtable Randomness: Yakov Smirnoff - Just Off The Boat: Recorded Live In Branson, Missouri 1994 Men in Black (+ UltraViolet Digital Copy) [Blu-ray]
Once again, its time. Its time for music. Its time for music. Its time for Drew. Its time... for... The Deucecast Episode LVI: Indiana Mikey and the Podcast Crusade! Right off the bat, we drink a little... thats drinking some Vitamin Fizz, by the way, which is better than you might think. Jumping into the week, Mikey discusses his zoo adventures, Drew talks about his crazy weekend travels and d$ has more sleepy trouble with caring for an infant. We also riff on The B in Apt 23... Veep... the upcoming Hatfield & McCoys... James Doohan in Space... GI Joe's release date... and does Superman II hold up anymore? Wil Wheaton becomes a topic of discussion, somehow... as does the trouble with Seal's lyrics... Cub Scouts, Webelos and Eagle Scouts... the trouble with Facebook and its possible legacy (AOL, anyone?)... and in a Nerd Alert, we answer the question, which is a higher ranking: A Star Trek Ensign, or a Star Trek Junior Grade? Its a very music heavy episode, as Mikey's Music Crap takes on The Shins and John Mayer... d$ begins his five part Americana Series for The Buried Treasure with an acting legend... and our Big Three Favorite Soundracks include music from Pulp Fiction... You've Got Mail... Phenomenon... and The Crow. And in a "how did we get here", we go from Nelson to Nilsson to a Bible Study highjacking of "Peaceful Easy Feeling" by The Eagles. Mikey also does the unthinkable, and craps all over John Williams and his music. Because the themes to Jaws, Indiana Jones, Star Wars and Forrest Gump sound exactly alike. Right? Right. And next week, we welcome in Hurricane Rhett as we discuss The Big Three Worst Acting Performance Ever... Mikey has more crappy music... and Part II of The Buried Treasure Americana Series... thats all on The Deucecast Episode LVII: Indiana Dave & the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull! Mike's Music Minute: Port Of Morrow - The Shins Dave's Buried Treasure: Randy Travis Movies The Big 3: The One Where We Discuss Our Favorite Movie Soundtracks: Dave's Choice - Sleepless In Seattle: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack Drew's Choice - High Fidelity: Original Soundtrack Mike's Choice - The Crow Original Motion Picture Soundtrack Was John Williams a hack? You'll have to decide that on your own. Roundtable Randomness: Superman II - The Richard Donner Cut [Blu-ray] Drive (+ UltraViolet Digital Copy) [Blu-ray] After The Rain - Nelson Personal Best: The Harry Nilsson Anthology
