Every 15 to 20 years things change.  Society evolves regardless if it's for better or for worse.  However, as a people, not all of us evolve.  Some of us are left in the past without making attempts to understand anything outside of the realm of our generation. Some people rush into relationships and get our feelings hurt.  Others bail on relationships too quickly and end up missing out on a good thing.  Do either apply to you or do you kind of fall in the middle? To be honest, most of us see ourselves as being balanced, but we're really not.  I went from one extreme to the next.  I once rushed into relationships simply because I didn't have difficulties being committed.  That turned into disappointment more times than not.  Over time things changed.  Now that I'm not as trusting of women as I once was, I tend to find reasons to not be in a relationship.  I find myself refusing to commit because I'm searching for that perfect someone who doesn't exist. Single?  Well, don't feel bad.  It happens to the best of us.  However, there are some who despise being single.  Even to the point of remaining in a bad relationship or even getting into a situation that may not be favorable just to say "I'm not single!"  It's crazy to think that people would go through that extent to not appear alone, but it happens. So, does that mean that being single makes you a loser?   Does being an over-30 person without a significant other mean that something is wrong with you?  Are you undesirable to others because you don't have someone to call your own? I have the opportunity to have a chat with film maker and author, Isabella "Izzy" Church.  I ask her about how she got started in her career in film and how it all translated into a book.   "Angry Movie Guy."  The title itself is very interesting. This is a romantic comedy that blends witty dialogue, self-hatred, and other similar rom-com features. This is something that I take for granted way too often. In fact, I should be asleep now instead of typing this. Getting rest is essential in our lives, but it's more of a priority to some of us than it is to others. I shun sleep regularly, but now that I'm getting older, it's starting to catch up with me. I'll get sleepy while driving on long trips. I'll fall asleep while watching a football game. And sometimes, it shows simply becauase I'm lethargic that day. Welcome to the future of dating. I'm guessing within five years that a date will consist of being on the couch in yoga pants and tweeting about "Empire" together. Wow. Things have changed so much since the 90's. I remember when you would meet a lady, get her number, actually called her to get to know her, and went out on a date. It doesn't seem that long ago that was the norm. But like the iPhone 5, things only take a couple of years to be outdated. Today people text, text, and text some more and voice conversations and actual meetings don't always happen quickly (if at all). How do we adapt to the ever-changing world of communicating? Where do I start with this one?  Ladies first, I guess.  I have no idea what happened to the kind, sweet, loving, nurturers that I once knew.  A woman could make you feel as if you could jump over the moon and be anything that you wanted to be.  It all started with moms who raised their sons to strive for the best.  It made boys grow up seeking a woman who inspired them and motivated them.   Fast-forward to 2015 and that rarely exists.  Now there are some women who are just jerks.  They allow their pride to interfere with happiness and the possibility of being a successful couple. Guys were once protectors.  We didn't just defend our woman.  We defended all women.  We wouldn't sit back and allow someone's character to be trashed.  We would speak out against atrocities against women.  It started with fathers who raised their sons to do the right thing (even when no one was looking).  It made boys grow up feeling a sense of responsibility towards helping other people.  It gave women a sense of security that "this one is going to make everything okay." Fast-forward to 2015 and that rarely exists.  Now guys actually look to victimize women.  They allow their ego to interfere with happiness and the possibility of being a successful couple. It is very uncommon to have a show like this without people losing their minds. For some reason, it's so difficult, especially for certain ethnic groups, to discuss roles in a relationship. Movies have come a long way since I was a kid. The special effects are so realistic these days that you may temporary forget that dinosaurs don't exist. Or that there isn't a rebel colony in space. Countless times we've heard of soldiers returning from overseas and being forgotten.  Despite their sacrifices to protect the freedoms of this country, they are rarely appreciated.  Even with veterans in political office, there is still not a lot being done to help returning soldiers get acclimated to being home again.
