This is something everyone gets caught up in at times.  We shouldn't feel badly when it happens to us because it's human nature to think with our hearts instead of our heads.  However, there's a chance that we can ultimately make the best decisions for our hearts if we learn to focus on actions instead of words. Easier said than done, right?  People woo us with their promises and compliments all of the time while their actions show the complete opposite.  On the flip side, some people tell us they don't like or care for us yet their actions show otherwise. Social media makes us stupid. I can't put it any more clearly than that. Sure, it's entertaining to those who already have a foundation in common sense, but let's face it, that's a minority. So, what happens when you mix social media channels with people who do not have common sense? Crazy stunts that result in serious injuries if not death, mixed signals in relationships, political statements, and a community full of trolls and douches for lack of better terms. Kids are very instinctive.  They're smarter than a lot of adults give them credit for.  They pick up on things easily and learn how to manipulate at a very young age.  They learn that when they cry that you will pick them up.  Or if they throw a tantrum that you will buy them a toy.  That comes natural to them.  Another thing that comes natural to children is lying.  They learn to do so to avoid consequences to something they may have done wrong.  They will tell you they didn't break a vase to avoid punishment without any though to logically explaining how it wasn't their fault. Our response as (good) parents is to discpline the child for lying.  However, we sometimes contradict ourselves by using a term that is called "a white lie."  That basically insinuates that the lie being told isn't that bad or is somehow done for the greater good of a situation.  An example is going to an all-you-can-eat buffet where kids under 10 eat free.  You tell your 11 year old that "if anyone asks, you're 9 years old tonight."  It benefits your wallet, but what does it do for the child? (Way) Back in the day, let's say the early 60's, guys could call the shots.  Guys were the bread winners so that afforded them some luxuries when it came to mate selection.  A lot of guys had the ability to choose exactly what they wanted in a mate because at the time women were looking for security.  They wanted a man who could pay the bills and be a provider. Fast forward to 2015 and the roles have completely changed.  Guys are no longer sole providers of households.  In fact, guys are rarely providers of households in a lot of communities across the country.  Ladies have gotten educated and have started making money and support themselves.  The result: now they are the ones making the mate selection. Gone are the days when a woman only cared about security.  Now that she has her own, she can do what the guys once did exclusively: she can pick and choose as she pleases.  How does this affect dating in modern day society?  With guys looking for security and women looking for eye candy, can the role reversal be effective? A May-November relationship is when an older person dates a much younger person.  The older person represents November, which is towards the end of the year (and their life), while the younger person represents May, the blossoming part of the year (and their life). Can the two co-exist?  Well, we've seen it happen successfully, but more times than not it's driven by an agenda. Some of you recognize that song by the Big Tymers.  It basically talked about despite the fact that there was little money to pay the bills there was enough to look good and fool the world.  Most people think that being "hood rich" is limited just to the poorer communities, but that's not the case.  The middle class is the most notorious for living above their means. The most basic rule of the average relationship is to be faithful to your mate.  Why is that so difficult for some people?  Now not being faithful is more than just not having sex with a side piece.  It's hidden Facebook messages, Twitter DM's, and other ways people conceal their dirt. There are scandals galore in Hollywood and in the White House.  From acts of immorality to criminal acts, it's rarely a surprise when we see a famous name appear in the headlines for something bad.  One of the latest scandals involves a reality show star by the name of Josh Duggar.  The "19 Kids and Counting" participant has been accused of not just being a molester of seven girls, but some of those girls were his sisters. Can he recover from this?  And if so, why do certain people get a pass on pedophilia while others do not? Also, Rachel Dolezal was president of the NAACP in Washington, but she's a white woman.  Big deal?  It is to some if you lie about being black.  Is this the true definition of "fake it 'til you make it"?  Does it matter what color she is if she's getting stuff done? It's that time of the year again!  Summer is upon us and that means weddings galore.  There are so many different ways to have a wedding.  Gone are the days of tradition with the simple church wedding with family and close friends.  Now we have theme weddings and we will invite anyone from coworkers to Facebook friends. However, when does it cross the line of being too much?  What are some of the responsibilities of the bride towards the audience?   After all, it's her day, right?  Should she be able to do what she wants?  What is the audience's responsibilities towards to the bride?  Are they obligated to do or not do certain things because she was nice enough to invite them? We hear the term "black-on-black crime" quite often on news shows. Like the term "reverse racism," it appears to be a term insinuates something to be an isolated problem when it's in fact something all people experience. All races experience a high rate of race-on-race crime, but why do we not hear the terms "white-on-white crime" or "Latino-on-Latino crime"? Why are black people singled out? - Is the black-on-black crime rate that much worse than other races? - Does the media perpetuate these violent rages that apparently runs only in black communities? - What should leaders do to address it?
